I visited Bergen during Easter, so most shops and restaurants were closed. The evening meal at Havnekontoret made my trip a lot easier. I was also positively surprised by the quality of the meal - you get a hot meal, a soup and a great salad buffet. I also enjoyed the breakfasts and had the opportunity to try the afternoon fika waffles once - really tasty! The staff were very friendly and helped with all questions I had. The hotel was also very kind to upgrade my room free of charge to a more premium one with a nicer view to Bryggen and a bathtub since I stayed for five nights. The location is superb - the main attractions of Bergen are very close and the airport shuttle buss stops and leaves right next to the hotel. The room had a comfortable bed and all the necessities you could need.

Having a dinner provided as part of the room rate was very convenient. We could totally relax in the hotel facilities. Pancakes and tea/coffee in the afternoon was also a fun bit of luxury which we could enjoy because many tourist attractions are close to the hotel. Also loved the convenient airport shuttle bus just outside the door.

The restaurant did have much dinner options but that is just a minor negative really because there are many other dinner options close to the hotel if you want that.

One of the reasons we booked the Havnekontoret was the fact they had meals with your stay. They were great and kept us from having to find a place to eat for the 12 of us. Even though it may have made the room prices a little more, it was well worth it ...having the convenience of breakfast and supper right there at the hotel, as well as waffle/pancakes at 3PM. Can't say a bad word about it!! The other reason for this Clarion was its location ... right at the edge of Briggen and on the Harbor. The bus came right outside our door, if needed. The staff was also great! I would definitely stay at the Clarion Havnekontoret again.

This hotel is all about location, and it didn’t disappoint. You are in the prettiest part of town and within walking distance of most attractions in the city. Don’t miss a visit to the tower for stunning views of Bryggen (ask for the key at reception). The evening meal was included; it is a buffet with limited choice, and if you want dessert, you have to pay. However, it was totally fine, and my vegetarian wife was catered for. An unadvertised bonus was free waffles in the afternoon. With this and a copious breakfast, we did not need to spend time or money on lunches.

Excellent location with public transport close by. Pleasant room with view. Tea and coffee available. Great breakfast but could have started at 6.30am to accommodate full day excursions with early departure. Evening meal option tasty and useful to mitigate high costs of eating out. Good room security and safe. Brilliant view from the tower in the evening. Ask for access at reception.

Such a luxury hotel! The lounge area was fantastic! The room very spacious and expensive furniture. Great decoration everywhere. They have kept the one side of the hotel as it used to be, don't miss to see it! Take the staircase down from your room and the place is stunning to the ground floor. Also don't forget to go to the roof as u can see a fantastic view from bergen! The greatest location to bergen!

The evening meal wasn't so good. The fried fish was soggy and the chicken that it was served cooked with a peculiar sauce, not nice. Salads were fine .Soup OK as well. They could serve a small dessert as well, instead of charging it. We had no view from our room, although almost all around the hotel was overlooking Bergen. That was a disappointment, staring some offices, and the employees looking at us.

The personnel is very friendly and helpful. The room was nice, comfortable and very clean. Great facilities. The breakfast was really good with something for everyone and very diverse. The waffles in the afternoon and coffee is a nice idea (they are not that great, but something to warm you up after a cold rainy morning, to recharge you for a next round around the city). The light dinner is actually really nice, but expect cantine quality, not restaurant. The location is amazing and don't forget to ask for access to the hotels tower, you will get a lovely view over the city. For sure I'm gonna stay there on my next trip to Bergen.

Some decorations are quite weird.

An excellent location at the end of the Bryggen wharf, a lot of sights around within easy walking distance. A very well-run hotel with excellent staff. Very good room, comfortable and spacious, well worth the money.

The food is bit below standard, breakfast is your average Norwegian breakfast, nothing dazzling or wow as you would expect from a hotel of this standing. Dinner was the great disapointment - no choices, salad, soup and a meal, no desert - at dinners we felt like manual workers in a workers dorm :-(

Location of the hotel in Bryggen was fantastic, only a short walk back into the centre of town and a bus stop out the front for easy access with luggage to/from train station. The room package including breakfast, "fika" and dinner was great value although we never made it back for fika (afternoon tea) as we were always busy sightseeing. The hotel has a tower you can access and view the town from, we were lucky enough for it to be snowing when there so the view was fantastic and at night was gorgeous. We had an early morning departure (too early for the buffet breakfast) so reception organised a breakfast bag for us to go, could not have asked for better service.

My only tiny complaint was the lighting in the rooms. Very dark as all with timber paneling and then dim lighting so not the best for reading a book.

The meals, breakfast and dinner included with the rate were excellent. Very good options and very good quality food.The location of the hotel is unbeatable right in front of the famous Brygge. Service was excellent with every professional we dealt with being super friendly and responsive.

The room had a balcony but no view at all.Actually the view was of the internal courtyard where you could see a pile of garbage, debris and where there were a few cars parked. To summarize, it was a bad view from a nice balcony.
