Small Luxury Hotel Altstadt Vienna

Beautiful breakfast room, where you could also get cake and drinks in the afternoon. Lovely breakfast staff as well, was an absolute pleasure starting the day this way:) the spinach and feta quiche on their afternoon/room service menu is truly delicious. Perfect location, great area with lots of nice restaurants, cafes, smaller/vintage/artistic shops.

No wardrobe in room, just a rail with hangers but no shelves for underwear, t-shirts, etc. No shelves in bathroom either. Daily between roughly 8-9:30am extreme slamming of doors, makes room shake (1st floor rooms).

Our suite, like the whole hotel, was tastefully and thoughtfully furnished with impressive artwork and comfortable furniture appropriate to the hotel's style and construction. It was large and sunny, and had every amenity that we needed. Breakfast was a delight, with healthy and ample choices that satisfied a wide range of eating styles (they even had oat milk for my muesli). The hotel is located in an interesting neighborhood of smaller shops and cafes (not in the large international hotel area) but was within a short walk or tram ride to the principal museums and concert halls. The cleaning staff kept our room spotless, and although we had little need of other guest services, the front desk/concierge was extremely helpful.

The hotel is slightly understaffed and some of the staff appeared to have multiple functions that reduced efficiencies a few times, but this was not a serious problem for us.

The breakfast was excellent both in terms of the variety and quality of food. And the coffee was very good. Our room was gorgeous. I’m not a fan of bright red as decor but it was so interesting and well designed that I didn’t mind it. The location is great. It’s close enough to the main attractions that we could walk everywhere. Plus, the transportation options are good. My husband and I love his place and look forward the coming back.

Would like to try a room with lighter colors next time.

This is quite an old but very well appointed city centre building with interesting and individually designed rooms. The staff were, without exception, excellent making us feel welcome and well cared for. There was a good range of food for breakfast and the bar and lounge areas were all comfortable and well appointed.

We moved rooms as we booked a room with "Easy chairs, plump floral sofas...." to find that the room we were initially assigned had a single easy chair but did not have a sofa. The young lady on reception was sympathetic and moved us to another room that was more in in line with our expectations, so we did end up with a room that we were very happy with.

Hotel is beautifully furnished and the public areas ie the entrance, stairwell and reception is bright, cheerful, stylish, artistic and full of character. The hotel only occupies some of the floors so it felt like an apartment. The staircase is a feature and full of historic character (our exercise everyday!). A lovely corridor of dining and sitting rooms is very homely and welcoming for breakfast and afternoon tea or evening drinks with a self-service bar. The complimentary afternoon tea with cake of the day was a welcome and peaceful haven after a busy day in the city. Our bedroom was a good size, very clean, comfortable bed, soft chair, nice furnishings & lighting, lovely bathroom, coffee machine (stopped working but was swiftly replaced). Great view of the rooftops. A lovely room to relax although we were out most of the time. The service at reception was outstanding, welcoming, enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. The dining room staff were exceptional, attentive, efficient & cheerful. Excellent generous breakfast with freshly cooked option and fresh coffee served. Good location away from the busy city centre with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby (20 mins walk from centre). We loved the hotel for its artistic quirkiness, high standards and exceptional service. A hidden gem. Highly recommend. Thank you.

Nothing of importance. Room slightly dark but nice big window and good cosy lighting to balance it out. No acknowledgement of our anniversary but didn't bother us. No hotel restaurant for evening meal but offers small hot snacks and there is a good choice of restaurants/cafes nearby so all good.

It is a wonderful delight to stay at the hotel. Location, room decor, restaurant (it called Salon:) were all excellent. Convenient parking at the center of Vienna for 18 Euro and 24/7 access The staff is more than nice; they really care about you and your experience. When we asked for a restaurant recommendation for dinner, the gentleman at reception called and reserved a table for us. We were looking for an Austrian cousin, and his suggestion was brilliant. Thank you very much.

The bathroom's huge window lacked drapes :) The bathroom's layout is a little off, in my opinion.

We really loved the vibe of this hotel. Great design, lots of art, spacious, beautiful and surprisingly sound-proof rooms (we stayed in two different), awesome breakfast, honesty bar, nice rooftop terrace. But most importantly – even though it's small, it's still a real proper hotel, not that stupid "boutique" type of thing that's well-decorated, but usually lacks comfort and service. Will definitely stay again.

All rooms in this hotel have different design, but you cannot book a specific one, only the category. So you may either get lucky, or end up in a room that you really hate. It took us 3 days of intense messaging with the property to finally arrange the suite we liked. That was REALLY stressful. Also, since that suite was unavailable throughout our whole stay, we had to downgrade to a regular room for one night. But they still made us pay the suite price for that regular room! That was kinda weird and not nice. By the way, regular room turned out to be much better value for money than the suite (which was honestly a bit overpriced). But other than that, we really liked the hotel.

This was one of the most pleasant hotel stays I experienced. The hotel exudes Viennese retro charm. The staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and attentive. We got an upgrade to our room and the suite was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast bar was diverse and all the produce fresh. There is also a complimentary tea time in the afternoon at the hotel salon with homemade cake being served. The location of the hotel at the heart of Vienna is also excellent with all off the main museums, the royal palace, theatre, opera house and Stephansplatz within walking distance.

The hotel is in an historic building with class, elegance and a lot of personality. It is not the regular chain hotel which could be anywhere in the world. The rooms are spacious, well maintained, the bathrooms are modern. Breakfast is gorgeous with good quality produce and varied. Breakfast room is like a British tea saloon. The neighbourhood is quiet and 10 mins walk from Museum Quartier. There is a new rooftop terrace where uoi can go relax. It was our second visit here and we do not regret coming back. It is now out preferred place to stay in Vienna.

The hotel has no parking of its own. Public parking is available close by.

The hotel personnel went beyond and above to satisfy any request we had (e.g. last minute reservation for dinner on a busy night, reservation and recommendation for a concert), being geniously polite and friendly. The breakfast was really satisfactory, delicious and of great quality and variety. Included in the price was the afternoon tea/chocolate/desserts. The room was spacious, very clean, modern and we found little treats waiting for us every evening. The location of the hotel is very convenient (walking distance from the major sights and museums, very close to various public transportations, safe and quiet neighborhood). Overall it exceeded our expectations for a lovely stay in Vienna.
