Charles V

The hotel is lovely and in a great location--we absolutely love village St. Paul. The staff is delightful and helpful. But the room was minuscule for the price. While it was nicely furnished and had excellent amenities, the hotel management could learn a lot by staying overnight in one of their rooms. Because the closet is so minute, they should consider putting hooks on the wall right by the door so that guests can hang their coats and other things that WILL NOT fit in the tiny tiny closet. In addition, the tiny tiny shower room ( separated from the toilet) had ONE hook for a towel. So where do you hang towels for two people? Where do you hang the nice bathrobes? There is literally nowhere to put anything. But these small issues could be easily remediated with some thoughtful and creative fixes. I have stayed in 4-star hotels all over Paris--mostly in the 6eme, and this hotel is expensive for what you get. But I did like the style and ambience so next time would think about paying even more for a larger room--but again--for the money, you can find better rooms in other hotels.

The hotel is located in the fantastic area of Le Marais, surrounded by many options for food and shopping. We had a king bed which was two single mattresses. It worked for my sister and I but if it was a couple, they may prefer no split in the mattress. I would say the best part of the hotel is the location and staff. The front desk workers rotated but we’re all extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel also feels very safe for travelers visiting the city.

A few times when our room was cleaned during the day, we would still have to call down for some more things like more toilet paper and refills on the water bottles they provide. But the front desk was always very accommodating and would provide what we need. They did not provide any wine bottle opener in the rooms…which could be a nice little touch for people wanting to have a drink at home :) But of course, they open the bottles at reception.

We had a delightful five night stay at the Charles V, a lovely small hotel in a quiet street between busy Rue St Antoine and the river. A stone's throw to the St Paul metro and Line 1, and surrounded by small bistros, boulangeries and wine and cheese shops, the location is perfect. There is a branch of Monoprix and a supermarket nearby. Walking distance to the museums of the Marais such as Musee Picasso, and to the Isle Saint Louis. The room was well appointed (although quite small, typical for Paris) and the bathroom was a good size. And the air conditioning works! Very pleasant breakfast room with a range of options. We will hope to return !

For these prices, a coffee machine rather than sachets of Instant coffee would be nice!

The Charles V and staff were exceptional. The location could not have been any better as we were within walking distance to the right bank, Notre Dame Cathedral, restaurants, fabulous shopping and excellent cafes. They helped us navigate the train to Versailles and several other sights we wanted to see. We didn't eat breakfast as there is a shop down the road we enjoyed most mornings. However, we enjoyed their delicious cappuccino each morning discussing our days upcoming adventures. A couple traveling with us had their flight cancelled at the last minute and needed to stay an extra night and The Charles V graciously accommodated them instantly. (Check out Bistro St Paul down the street! Just like a neighborhood cafe with great food and people.)

Excellent location, close to the metro and bus stop. Many food options nearby, there is a Carrefour and Franprix supermarket and also a Monoprix.

The bathroom's shower stall, the design is not so ideal because it doesn't fully prevent the water from being splashed out when taking a shower. On our first night, we discovered the sink and shower drainage hole is blocked, water cannot drain fast enough, hence cause a 'flood' when take shower. However they manage to fix it the next day.

Staff was so helpful and friendly. Quickly resolved a minor issue with the sofa bed. Location in LA Marais Ville de Saint Paul is wonderful. Suite is not huge but comfortable for 2 non-couple travellers and would be ample space for a couple. Breakfast was great and worth adding to your stay. 2 shower baths, one with a toilet. Beds were comfortable and decor of rooms and lobby are lovely. Shampoo and body wash in each shower, additional toiletries in each bath. Bottles of water in mini fridge at no cost. Hot water pot, tea and instant coffee in the room. Did not visit fulness center so cannot rate that. We will definitely stay here again.

Breakfast was very nice, friendly staff, convenient location, tasteful details and even a small hamam. While it is not cheap, I can very much recommend the Charles V. The hotel also has a small but pricey bar which is a nice place to hang out after a long day of walking. We very much appreciated that they kept the breakfast a bit longer out there for us to enjoy.

Nothing really, the price is just at the higher end for what you get. But it is Paris after all.

Hotel Charles V is in a super location in the Marais - lively and interesting. The hotel staff is amazing and take good care of their guests. The rooms are nicely decorated, comfortable, of an old-world charm. It's easy using public transportation from this hotel. So many good restaurants and sights in the neighborhood. Highly recommended.

Breakfast could be improved. Suggestion: try to avoid using taxis or Uber in Paris this summer. It's a traffic nightmare and very costly because of the traffic jams.

Extremely nice staff, nicely designed, very clean and well presented & in a perfect location in the Marais. The breakfast was perfectly nice, and the small lobby bar / breakfast area is very nice.

Something of a pet peeve, but when booking a room stated as having a 'large double bed' it really is ridiculous to then find it is is two single beds pushed together. Very uncomfortable and a poor reflection on the hotel in general, which was otherwise very good... but if you're paying fairly decent money for a place to stay / sleep the first thing that should be gotten right is the bed!
