Hotel Giappone

Cristina, who runs the place, is a very friendly and helpful person and the place itself has just been uplifted and serves the guests perfectly.

The only shortcoming of the hotel is the climb up the stairs to the third floor but if I, being over 70, could manage doing it several times a day, then anyone can.

Very central location is perfect, staff was so kind, rooms are nicely renovated in a historical building. I was afraid of if it is old and look bad before i arrive, but it was perfectly new and clean. Room size was good, bed was comfy,

- In 3rd floor without elevator, really high stairsteps - There was a lot of noise as it is on a busy street. also our room was next to reception, i woke up several times by ringing bell to access reception. - In the bathroom, there is no hanger next to the shower or next to the sink to hang the towels. - We stayed for 2 nights, the sheets were fixed in the room but no cleaning was done during our stay. (It is okay for us i'm not complaining but it can be important for other people)

Our host Cristina was very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was a little tight to get in and out but it did have a very nice large modern shower area. There was also a table with three chairs a mini fridge with water and a kettle. The room is just like in the pictures. The Hotel is in a very good location. It's about a five minute walk from the train station and a short walk to the Duomo and the Accedamia Gallery. Lots of stores and restaurants in the area to explore. We would stay here again.

The only thing I would say we didn't like was the noise from the street. We were in Florence over a weekend so I guess that was a factor in the noise level late at night. I will say that the noise level did get a bit better much later in the night.

The location is great. Easy walk to main attractions and Firenze SMN train station. Would stay here again.

Being so central it can be noisy. Didn't expect the city street cleaners and garbage collectors to be running at 0200 and 0530. Ear plugs easily solved that problem however so come prepared. Stairs have limited to no hand rails. Stairs sort of spiral up so the inside corner of the step is very narrow at spots. If you can't carry your luggage it will be a struggle getting it up the stairs. Backpackers, like ourselves, should find it manageable.

The location is just perfect. Your so close to the train station and one can easily have a walk at night through the city without being worried how to get back. Our host was really nice too.

Going upstairs with the suitcase 🤣 but hey, the way downstairs is by far easier 😁 The real bummer is that the street was so loud at night. Especially the garbage collection 😐 But if you keep your windows closed its fine. I really would suggest this anyway cause we've got eaten alive by mosquitoes 😁 Just be aware that you are in the middle of the city and have no lift available. If you're fine with that than you'll enjoy your stay like we did ☺️

The location is great. A 6 minute walk from train station. But very close to Duomo and city center and the shopping area. You can walk down to most attractions in the city. The host is very warm and helpful. Clean, small room, and private washroom outside the room. Very good and safe for solo travelers.

The hotel is on the 3rd floor and no lift is available. So if you have luggage, it will be a tedious climb up the stairs. But, the host is very helpful in carrying the luggage.

Nice, fresh refurbished place, clean rooms. Shower with high ceiling and natural light. Well situated near everything. We could see a glimpse of Duomo from our room. 3 stairs up, so not much street noise. Extra wifi in the room functioned well. Wonderfull service

No elevator, the stairs are pretty steep to climb. Little common room.k

The location was great, it is near the duomo and the train station. The room was clean and spacious enough for two. The shower was in the room and has glass + no curtains, not a problem for us as a couple, but I can imagine it can be uncomfortable if you're not a couple. People complain about the uncomfortable stairs, but they're fine. Yes, the hotel is on the third floor and has no elevator, but if you're in normal shape, those stairs shouldn't be a problem.

There was only one toilet for the entire hotel. Above this toilet, there is also a shower that can be used. When people have used it, the entire toilet is soaking wet. The bed was a bit hard. And there was nobody to welcome us/check us in. A lady from the hotel a floor below let us in.

Location, and facilities were great, including room and bathroom. I was overall very happy with my stay and highly recommend

Getting my suit case up and down the stairs was hard work as it was on the top floor and no lift. However, the host helped getting it up which was lovely of her. And only up and down ones so not a big deal :)

Location was great, facilities were great, friendly staff and you can store your luggage on checkout if you still plan to see things midday to afternoon.

The only thing holding back a full 10 was 77 steps to get up with no elevator. What a workout, be prepared if you have heavy luggage or not that fit. Stop every few flights, it spirals. :-)
