Hotel Abbazia

Check in staff very friendly and helpful on arrival The air on in the room worked superb given the high temperatures outside The room maid was very thorough in cleaning the room, location was superb for easy access into Venice sights and transfers by bus to/from the airport, plus ample water taxis and located for 2 min walk to main train station

Garden area was unloved with old dead plants in some pots, which made the area look untidy Breakfast was ok though top up of rolls, bread was poor Breakfast staff seemed very unhappy 🙁 every morning compared to the rest of the staff in the hotel.

Location was excellent literally 5 mins walk from the station, room was spacious for four people and interior decor was nice with plenty of USB chargers. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel was clean with nice garden.

No lift which made hard to take luggage to the 2nd floor, air con wasn't great. It would be better if they had bread and toaster in the breakfast. No kettle in the room.

The location was amazing. It was close to the station and the taxi point. The room was very beautiful with a nice bath. We were on the second floor so we didn’t really hear any noise. The staff from the reception was very kind. We could leave our luggage in a special room. The WiFi was good enough for a Netflix Movie. There was a mini fridge in the closet. They cleaned the room every day and gave us new towels. There was a Spar right around the corner.

The shower pressure was very low. The church bells sounded very loud at 7:30 in the morning. The extra bed/sofa (3 persons in one room) was very hard. For the price we paid, I expected a bit more, but I suppose Venice is expensive. The breakfast was a bit sad, there were no eggs (not boiled, baked or scrambled) and not a lot of choice. The garden was in maintenance, so not like on the pictures. Closet was a bit small for 3 people, I think the rooms are not build for 3 people.

It's too easy to use words like traditional, historic, and quaint to describe any place in Venice - I mean, that's why people come to the city. You should not drive a car into to Venice; this place is only a 7-minute walk from the main bus station (i.e. with regular buses to/from the airport) and even closer to the main train station. This hotel has at least some rooms with dark velvet covered walls, wooden beams in the ceiling, a black free-standing tub in the room, and accent lighting that altogether set a tone for returning to the room early after dinner and drinks.

Location was perfect, just around the corner from the train station and no chance of getting lost in the warren of alleyways that is Venice. The staff where friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. It was also very quiet which was a surprise as the area itself was busy, there was a lovely little garden out back for some peace and quiet after the hustle and bustle.

Being March and Typical Italy the Aircon wasn't working so it was warm in the room, we avoided opening the window as we did get a mosquito fly in on the first night. The room was quite small but very comfortable.

It is located in a nice place, close to the bus and train stations, so easy to and from airport, too. Many nice restaurants and shops nearby. Also EXCELLENT breakfast included. The room provided a hair dryer, which was also nice

It was extremely warm in the room and the hotel in general, making it difficult to sleep even with the windows open and is winter. It was not clear how you can influence the temperature. Lastly, the pictures are not precise as we booked it based on the gorgeous outside area, which was totally in rambles now (probable will be renovated in the future) but now was mostly closed off. I think the picture shouldn't be included for the time being as it is deceptive

Location was excellent being so close to the train station… and then within walking distance of all the sights. Breakfasts were great, with an extensive range of options… we didn’t miss not being able to have a fully cooked breakfast

We did miss not being able to have a cup of tea in our rooms… no tea or coffee making facilities And the shower over the bath was far from ideal because there was no shower curtain…. But only a minor dislike. And would have been good to have some control over the air conditioning… it was on all the time, and didn’t have much affect on the temperature on the really hot nights

Hotel Abazia was a great deal. It is literally five minutes from the Venice Santa Lucia train station. This is the train station on Venice island not the mainland. There are many restaurants, shopping, grocery store within this 5-10 minutes walk. There is also a laundromat about 20 minutes walk from the hotel. This worked for us because we traveled through Italy for the month of August. Our kids were in a room three doors down (ages 15,14, 10). Break fast again an assortment of pastries and some fruit and hot eggs, pancakes...weird to me but they had fried chicken wings and said many Americans like fried chicken wings for dinner. The staff was very nice. Please note it seems they are doing some renovation (it was not noisy) but you can tell as certain things are not as kept as it could be. The court yard for instance needed a little maintenance but then again we spent very little time there because we were out after breakfast. The fact that Hotel Abazia was close to the train station and shopping, pharmacy, bank, restaurants made up for the slight up keep. We would stay here again. Great deal for your money.

The furniture is dated.

The hotel decor, cleanliness, style, comfort and location were fabulous. Whoever is the interior designer has a good eye and great taste, we absolutely loved it from start to finish. Sadly we were only there 2 days. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the station and 10 minutes to the bus station so arrivals and departures are really easy. There are plenty of bars and restaurants close by and access to all the sightseeing you could need is easy. Our beds were very comfy and clean, bathroom facilities were awesome- including a proper hairdryer and toiletries.

Only things we can think of which maybe could be improved on are are the breakfasts which whilst perfectly adequate , weren’t that exciting. and it would have been perfect had we been able to get a coffee or a drink at the end of the evening when we came back in and sat in the lovely comfortable lounge area to talk about our day. We weren’t sure if we could bring one in from outside, it felt a bit disrespectful.

Location suited us, close to the bus station, only 1 bridge to cross with luggage. Easy to find. We are keen walkers so getting to Rialto, St Mark’s Square, Arsenale, Public Gardens etc. was no problem. Matteo at hotel reception was very helpful, advised us about restaurants and transport to the islands. Vaporetto stop nearby. We bought a day ticket, went to Murano, Burano and Torcello during the day. At night went along Canal to St Mark’s, the area was still very busy. We thought the hotel was stunning especially the sitting room and the garden area. Triple room was a decent size. Breakfast was substantial, great choices on offer. We loved Venice, we enjoyed gondola ride, you can haggle if they’re not busy.

As we were checking out before breakfast, we asked a member of staff the day before if the hotel offered a breakfast take away box but was told no. On checking out we asked again and we were given some fruit which was appreciated. This service perhaps needs some clarification.
