Cuxos Hotel Beachfront

We rented the penthouse/apartment. Check-in is at 3pm so if you arrive early you'll need to wait. They let us leave our bags in the small reception room and we promptly changed into swimwear and hit the beach. The view from the apartment was absolutely beautiful! The outdoor furniture on the 1st balcony was probably more comfortable than the beds. The top balcony didn't have any furniture but would definitely need some sort of shade or you'd burn up in the sun up there...but the view was spectacular! We loved sitting in the main dining room enjoying the ac while looking out the huge windows, great spot to have your morning coffee. The plunge pool was great although it gets pretty warm late in the day. The apartment can sleep 6 people maybe 8 if two would be comfy on the futon. There's only 1 bathroom so that might need to be taken into consideration whom you're traveling with. The beds were a bit hard but that's kind of a norm with any Mexico resort and/or hotel. The kitchen was great to make breakfast in the mornings, it could use a few more utensils but we made due. We went to the supermarket and loaded up on basic groceries and cocktail supplies. Grab a few cases of bottled waters so you can make ice right away. Of course, you can order food and drinks at the Chichi's & Charlie's restaurant and they'll serve you on the beach. Prices are at a premium so we would run and make our own drinks on and off to keep the bill down. The food was great, loved the mixed ceviche and shrimp nachos. Cuxos location is the hub for day trip travelers coming from Cancun so the beach can get busy but we never felt super overcrowded, there's plenty of water and beach to wander on. North beach is also the hub for private yachts and catamarans so you're a bit innodated with music coming from all directions. We did a private yacht 2 of the days we were there and loved getting to see so much of the water around the island.

Maybe a few "inclusive" items when renting the apartment/penthouse. We understood that it would be a boutique hotel experience but hoped for a few extras for renting their top room. Mattress toppers would make a huge difference! More ice trays would be helpful too.

no bath towels on arrival had to pay for beach towels daily ( did not state to bring beach towels -only hotel on north beach to not provide beach towels) did not provide glasses, plates , utensils No coffee pot No drinking water in room!

The room has an amazing view of the beautiful carribean sea and is in a great location. It's safe to swim on this beach and it's lovely to walk up and down Playa Norte. Sunset right here is also a bonus. This room had an amazing shower and bathroom equipped with a hair-dryer.

The room was a little noisy with construction during the day (behind the building and in front on the beach) and an intermittent whirring noise day and night (maybe a generator). It's a spacious room which is great but we had 4 chairs with no table which was quite strange. We did ask about a table but didn't hear back.

The top floor apartment is amazing and it does match the pictures. the furniture is beautiful and unique, but the kitchen was poorly equipped with old pots. from my point of view

The reception is really basic, the staff is around only some hours during day. I must say that I did not need anything from the reception so it was not a big deal.

Location amazing, cleanness and staff fantastic, Mgr. immediately took care of a broken lock, also allowed early check in since they had a room available. Most places make you wait for check in time. This is my 2nd stay and look forward to my 3rd.

Beach chairs and umbrellas get put away to early in the day. Suggestion, be nice to have a coffee maker or kettle to heat water for tea.

The view and location was perfect, directly on North Beach. The bathroom appeared to be recently updated and it was very nice! It was spacous but sparsely furnished. For two beach girls - we didn't mind. We appeared to be in the newer building. I was in the older building and would not have been happy - would have been a very different experience. You get a room on the beach in a great location – not much else. Wasn't a problem for us as we are pretty easy-going.

Don't expect a front counter with people waiting to help you. There was one person who was in a small room off Chi Chi's and Charlies below the rooms. BIGGEST PROBLEM the website does NOT reflect very important details. I did my research on their website regarding Covid test before our return to US. It stated details and price. When I asked the person in the office who couldn't understand me well - we had difficulty. With someone nearby to help translate, he then stated a price nearly twice what is listed on their website. No hair dryer. No beach towels and was difficult to communicate our request to the office person even with some limited spanish. He seemed a bit shy to be in charge of their customer service. This really needs some improvement.

I liked the location of the hotel on North Beach and the ocean view from my hotel room. Our cleaning maid was very attentive to our needs. Our room was kept clean. Mike, the director of the hotel was nice.

No microwave in room. Water entered our room during rain storms on the 2nd floor. The hotel restaurant did not offer coffee or breakfast in the morning. The restaurant staff should brush up on manners to customers.

Big comfortable room. Good shower. Clean. Great location!!

The room was on the frontline to the beach so a lot of noise in the morning, though quite at night. Some kind of construction started at the morning

Location is No.1, just 10 min. walking distance from the ferry terminal (turn left and walk to the end of the main road). Property should be definitely rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Just two weeks before we travelled someone wrote a comment about the mould on the walls and I can confirm that the mould has been removed within that two weeks before our arrival. Our room on the third floor (second in the UK) was very clean with a working fridge and good water pressure, fresh with no stain bed sets, daily cleaning services and beautifullllll view on the sea. There is also a shower located next to the stairs at the hotel, so you can easily clean your feet from the sand before you enter your room. And last thing I would like to mention, this place is not that laud I some visitors described it. I brought my ear plugs with me and I have never used them during my stay. All daily tourists are gone from the island after 6pm. Sunbeds are also available all day for hotel visitors at any time of the day.
