Na Balam Hotel

Staff was attentive and responsive. Never felt neglected or never had a request denied. Best water pressure of any hotel I have ever had in Mexico. Bath and bed were beyond expectation. Housekeeping was over-the-top.

Bottled water is essential in Mexico. This hotel had two pint bottles filled in the room, and expected us to keep returning them to the front desk (who then passed them to housekeeping) for refilling. Housekeeping would deliver several minutes later (sometimes more)It became untenable. We supplied larger plastic bottles to keep the number or trips to a minimum. If they put a large container in each room, the issue would be solved. Not a convenient system.

Breakfast is very good. Fresh fruit, eggs to order, potato wedges, fresh squeezed OJ, coffee, toast all included. Many other options on the menu (cost.) Location also great. Just half a block walk to the beach, a quiet oasis. Included beach club with a reserved bed for each room (no rush to get out to the beach to reserve a spot), umbrellas, palm trees, food and beverage service. A little quieter section of the beach.

There really wasn't a good spot to meet up with the other couple we were traveling with at the hotel. (We like to play cards and games in the evenings. ) Access to an extra set of chairs / little table on our balcony/ patio would have been nice.

We enjoyed the hotel very much. Rooms were huge and jacuzzi was nice. Breakfast is served at the hotel right in front, with sea view. Fruits, toasts, eggs, juice and coffee. You have the right to use the hotel’s sunbeds at the beach (though the ones jn front are for paying customers only).

The sunbeds area is supposed to be exclusive to the hotel, however, locals and tourists seat down in the shade provided by the palm trees right in there, do huge picnics, leave a mess behind & the staff does nothing. Also, each group plays their own music, so imagine how not relax at all this becomes. This is specially aggressive on saturdays. If the hotel had enforced this exclusivity, I would give a 10 rating. But we were so annoyed sometimes at all the noise that just left the beach.

This hotel is incredible. Amazing location, just a few steps from Playa Norte (literally 2 minutes walking), and right in downtown, close so all the restaurants, pubs, etc. Rooms are big, clean and beautifully decorated, charming swimming pool and beautiful gardens. The management was king and always helpful, and the included breakfast was generous and delicious. Frankly, I don't understand some of the bad comments I've read here before booking the room, my wife and two kids had a wonderful stay and we will come back.

That I made the mistake of booking another hotel in Punta Sur for the second half of our vacation. We should have booked the entire stay at Na Balam.

very nice location and welcoming staff. The receptionists were very helpful and gave us the possibility to store our luggage even after the check out. I particularly enjoyed the mood and the way everything was furnished and of course the great location! literally at 1 min walking to playa norte!

I felt like I was overcharged on extra services (i.e. renting golf cart, airport transfers etc..). Moreover, we didn’t see that the only available breakfast was the american one and even if I didn’t eat and order the eggs & american coffee the hotel made me pay extra money to order something different which connects to the feeling of being overcharged for anything in Mexico.

The rooms are lovely, rustic style with thatched roofs, but very clean. The pool is very good with some loungers and easily accessible from the rooms. The beach is not far, you have to pass through the other part of the hotel (Casa Jaguar) to get to the Beach Club where there is a dedicated area for the hotel with loungers and shade. Literally 2 minute walk. The included breakfast is great, ample fruit platter with freshly squeezed orange juice, toast and eggs (either scrambled or fried).

Sound control. Most of the time, there was not an issue, the hotel is out of the centre so it is quite quiet in the evening, but on Friday and Saturday nights, the noise and music from whether the Guru Beach bar (which has a DJ), the Mia reef resort or from the centre is very loud and continues until about 3 am. That disturbed us for a couple of nights (maybe due to us having a thatched roof), but other than that, the place was great.

Amazing stay at Na Balam! Staff was super friendly and helpful, rooms were giant and super comfortable, pool and Jacuzzi were perfect, the included breakfast at Oceanvs was amazing. We loved everything about this stay and could not recommend it more. We previously lived for 1 year on the island, so we know it very well. This is by far the best option you can find in the Playa Norte area, taking all things into account. The reception staff and the beach bar staff were all incredibly welcoming, service oriented and friendly. I can't thank them enough! Kudos to the hostess at the beach bar who was always on top of things and making sure all guests are taken care of.

It's really picky, but the beach beds have a weird design where if you lay back too strong the back part folds. Would be cool if they figured out a way to stabilize it :)

the staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in perfect location right before Mia reef. the pool was beautiful and the property grounds look serene . Our unit was on second floor with palapa roof, it was nice. There is a small tv in the room and small fridge. The room was quite large. only complaint If I had any, the room smelled of mildew. The breakfast that was included was for restaurant across the street Ocean. The restaurant said it only includes coffee and toast. we ordered a larger breakfast and we didn’t care for the food. The location was easy to walk to everything and hotel was quiet at night. I would definitely stay there again.

It was the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing beach vacation. The quietness and greenery of the property was exactly what I was looking for in a restorative trip. The hotel room was spacious. The staff was great. We sent our time by the ocean, although the pool looked lovely. The breakfast was a pleasant bonus. I would stay again.

The beds were a bit firm for my mother. The pillows weren't plump enough for me; next time I'll bring my own pillow.

beautiful garden oasis, just steps from bustling Playa Norte, with access to beach club and nice big beach beds! Gorgeous grounds and pool plus warm pool. Rooms are HUGE, bit dated but lots of character and comfortable. Big terrace or balcony viewing the pool along with nice rustic furniture…enjoyed the quiet relief from the crowds on the beach. No blackout blinds but tucked into a jungle garden so not much light to disturb, would recommend eye shades if you’re bothered by light. Air conditioning worked great, mini fridge for drinks and snacks, nice soft and new bedding, slept like babies…Staff go above and beyond, so helpful and caring, big kudos to the front desk, just outstanding

Just a bit dated, didn’t bother me as had lots of character…dim lighting which is only a issue if you’re over 50…and beds firm but new and nice bedding…nothing that would keep me from coming back!
