Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Location, staff, comfortable bed. Wre had a nice view over the water. The bathroom robe and slippers are a plus. Hair dryer , with diffuser was a nice touch 👌🏻.

The fixed TV settings which you could not even change brightness on, the toilet wasn't as clean as expected from a pricey hotel. The decor of rooms is a little dark for my liking , but that's just personal preference. Pillows were not as comfy, a bit too high for me. The heating was a not as easy to use.

Really cool design, the staff was super welcoming and helpful. They let us checkin earlier around 13pm which made us really happy since we were super tired from the trip. I informed them that it was my birthday and our wedding anniversary and they brought us ballons, small piece of cake and note which we thought it was super cute and it really made our stay extra special. The view from the room was beautiful. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable as well. The lobby and the restaurant down stair was super pretty and aesthetic and it’s really worth chilling in there for a bit.

Bathroom facilities was as bit too old, you could see some rust on the bath and the toilet seat could be changed since it started changing colour and becoming a bit yellowy . But all of this doesn’t really matter or impact the stay.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special and were only too happy to help whenever we needed anything. Upon arrival to our room, they had set up a sweet birthday surprise for my daughter which was beautiful. The location was a short walk to the train station that took you either towards the Central Station or the opposite direction (if you need to travel towards the Schiphol Airport). The convenience of hiring a bike from the hotel was useful and for €20 per person per day it was very reasonable indeed. The bed was comfortable, the room was perfect for what we needed and the view across the canal was nice to have. We treated ourselves to the buffet breakfast on the last morning of our stay and whilst we probably didn't eat the full value of the price of the buffet breakfast, there was plenty of yummy options available to chose from and what we selected was yummy.

The location was very good. Although just outside the central area (and therefore better value), it was a short walk to transport, and the Rijsmuseum. The room was very comfortable and quiet. There was an excellent choice for breakfast, which was very well-presented. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay.

Very minor points: 1. The room did not include a kettle, only a coffee machine - it was quite awkward to use this to brew tea (using hot water function) - also, the water/coffee was dispensed in fixed amounts which caused the cups to overflow. 2. China cups would have been better in the breakfast room, rather than paper cups with plastic lids.

Easily reachable by car and located in a nice and quiet neighbourhood. Very tastefully furnished and decorated Hotel, from lobby to bar, breakfast room, lounge and rooms. When booking the room, the info photos showed a south faceing balcony, but the room we were given only had a window. After having explained this issue to the manager we were compensated with canal view room. No discussion and no problem. Staff is always very friendly at the Apollo. The rooms in the Apollo must be with the best noise insulated rooms I have stayed in. There is no corridor or outside noise to be heard at any time of the day.

Price for the hotel own parking lot has risen from 40 to 50 Euro per day. Is however mentioned in the description. Aircon fan feels a little noisy during the night even on lowest fan setting.

Complimentary bottled water and illy espresso machine. Beautifully decorated inside. The HARBOUR club is gorgeous. Quiet and peaceful location with superb views of the marina and canals.

Room advertised as accommodating 3 but pricing did not reflect the extra bed needed

Room was spacious and clean. The decor was lovely and well presented. The plants in the hall on the way to our rooms were very welcoming. We opted not to get room cleaning for our 4 night stay and availed of a €5 voucher per day for the Hotel. Unfortunetly the hotel could not apply this voucher to the bike rental! The Breakfast was amazing every morning with plenty of options. The staff were helpful.

The rooms could have had some USB fittings in the room for charging devices like smart phones, smart watches and other items. When we used the phone to call reception it disconected straight away, however, when we were passing the lobby we spoke to the staff that way.

The property is modern but really more of a brush over what needs repairing . Our room had a leak which left a puddle in our room . They offered to move room after complaining but it was NYD 8am when I noticed it and hadn’t been in bed that long so wasn’t the right time to move . The staff made the stay . The lady with the short grey hair was super nice 😊

Buffet breakfast had a good spread and quality of food is very good. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable.

A bit far from the metro, one needs to walk at least 10 minutes to catch a tram or metro. Not many options of restaurants nearby which is a downside and the hotel restaurants close at 11. Hence getting late dinner or a mid night snack is not convenient especially when your touring the city. Lastly, the rooms could have 1 bright light. Most of the lights are for relaxing :)
