Hotel Bagués, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World

- Location at middle of La Ramble street - Nice Staff. - Clean rooms and facilities.

- Toilet's door is transparent glass (which is not acceptable in our culture). - Room size is small. - the room is missing many small items (that are normally available in 5* hotels), like the Iron, tooth brush, shaving tools, tea, water heater. - The room I got has only one internal window looking to hotel internal stairs. (most probably they have rooms with much better view)

We booked two rooms and stayed 6 nights and the staff and the entire team was fantastic. Very helpful and considerate. The rooms are well decorated and "typical" European sized rooms, which for some will be small. Although the rooftop bar is closed (like most hotels during late fall/winter), it's still open to bring your own bottle of wine and overlook the city during sunset. Only a small corner of the rooftop bar faces west, but you still get a fantastic view of the City. I read some of the reviews in regards to the noise, but the windows are double paned, and the entries are double doored. We had no issues, even with a bachelor party sharing the hotel or the busy street of La Rambla below. I love the location and have visited Barcelona a few times, staying in a 5-star hotel each occasion by the Harbor, Shopping District, and the heart of the Gothic Quarter. I'd probably pick Hotel Bagues over the other three due to the location as it's the center of it all. The Gothic Quarter is right there with it's shops, cafes, and bars. You can find a $15 bracelet, to a 15K original signed Miro lithograph. I love being by La Boqueria, my favorite food destination in the City, aside from a couple of Michelin restaurants. However, there are three very good Michelin restaurants around the corner. It's also convenient getting a taxi whenever you please. The hotel also arranged private transfer to Andorra---which was also fantastic service.

Nothing. The air conditioner did not work properly in one room for the first night, but the hotel upgraded the very next night for the duration. Travelers should keep in mind that you are staying in THE tourist area, so you can expect some street hustlers, etc. However, even with some late World Cup nights, we felt safe just using common sense. And the other luxury hotels have similar issues as well and can be difficult to get a taxi.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very tastefully designed and felt luxurious. The breakfast was very good and a lovely start to the day. The rooftop terrace had a fabulous vibe in the evening for cocktails. It was very easy to walk to key tourist attractions, it was easy to get a taxi and the metro was straightforward.

I shared a room with my daughter and before we booked I checked the hotel website and TripAdvisor to check that the bathroom was private (i.e. enclosed). It looked like the separating door between the bedroom and bathroom was a mirror. Unfortunately when we arrived we found that the door was clear glass. (The shower and toilet were both in cubicles within the bathroom with partially frosted glass.) The reception staff were very understanding when I requested a single sheet to be hung over the door for privacy and the issue was solved. Also the toilets are unusually high (good for the elderly) and the toilet seats are uncomfortable.

An excellent hotel with great facilities . All the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The breakfast was top class with a freshly made hot menu and an extensive cold buffet. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, great view from our 2 balcony room, spotlessly clean bathroom and plenty of hot water (bath robes a nice touch too) . The roof top bar has beautiful views and a great little plunge pool. I could easily spend a weekend just enjoying this space alone! The hotel itself is uniquely designed, I particularly loved the central spiral staircase and reception area. I would not stay anywhere else in Barcelona other than this hotel

Beautiful little hotel right on La Rambla - central to everywhere with all the key spots within very easy walking distance. Very cool inside - both temperature and style. We booked Jewel Suite - Room 601 - very stylish room - lovely Jacuzzi on a private balcony - the balcony is effectively split in two halves with one side having a day bed and small table and chairs, and the Jacuzzi out on its own section. Very comfy bed. The mini bar is re-filled everyday and you are encouraged to use it - plus we had a beautiful chilled bottle of Cava in an ice bucket waiting for us on arrival.

Since you're right on La Rambla it can be a little noisy at night.

great location and amazing roof terrace.

overall we had a great time. on our last night the barman at the roof terrace was quite rude because I’d used the stairs from our room on 6th floor to get to roof terrace, but apparently this was for hotel staff only. there were no signs to say this. it was a shame as we were going to have a drink for our last night but decided not too. The barman on the roof terrace for the other two nights of our stay was lovely (great grey beard and very friendly!) bit unfortunately this particular barman was very rude.

Location was great - right in the city centre. Easy access to all the tourist sights. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Room was comfortable - comfy bed and space to move around. Nice touch of a bottle of Carva on arrival and chocolates on the bed every night. They even closed all the blinds and almost 'tucked us in' for the night whilst we were out having dinner!

Room was advertised as having a hot tub - it was a spa bath (which was nice but not as expected) and the view from the small terrace was limited - I couldn't see over the wall without climbing! And when I did, it was the side of another building to look at rather than the view over the city. Pool on the roof is also very narrow - not really a pool but somewhere to dip your feet! I did expect the suite to be bigger for the price but it was comfortable and nicely decorated/equipped.

Our room was not large, but very elegant and cosy, and everything, from lighting to shower (the biggest shower head I have ever seen!) was in perfect working condition. The hotel is very conveniently situated on the Rambla, and since our room faced a smaller side street and a church (no neighbours), it was remarkably quiet. The rooftop terrace had a small pool, a bar and a view of many of the landmarks of Barcelona, so we went there every day. Above all, the staff at the reception desk was extremely helpful and kind - for instance, they helped us find a very nice restaurant with a gorgeous view of the harbour for the night we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. The whole trip was a pleasure, and the hotel played no small part in that.

There was practically nothing to not like.

We loved staying at Hotel Bagues. Probably the best stay we have had in a long time. Our room was perfect, clean, good size. Staff were incredible. Rooftop was the perfect place for us to have a few friends over to have drinks on the first night, since we had issues with our flight and had zero sleep. It was quiet enough for us to catch up but still have the atmosphere of La Ramblas below us! Also a great place to enjoy the sunset.

Lighting in the room is not great for doing make up but a minor issue

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Bagues. The location is in the middle of La Rambla so is surrounded by the market, cafes and restaurants. You walk out the door and you are in the thick of the action. The staff were amazing and Irene gave us the best recommendations of places to eat and visit. We only ate at restaurants she recommended and were never disappointed. The rooms were very nice, clean and a good size. The beds were particularly comfortable and they had the great pillows. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Barcelona. Also make sure you have a drink at the roof top bar to see the Barcelona skyline.
