Room was large and comfortable. Cosy bar area to sit and chat with a drink. Menu limited but meals we had were adequate and tasty. There was a large conservatory and outdoor eating area at the back of the hotel. Location was great, just out of town but an easy walk into the city centre. Alnwick castle and gardens close, and an easy drive to Bamburgh and Dunstenburgh castles. Beautiful country side.

Bathroom was a little tight for space, but not as small as some. Did not replace some consumables that we used on first day ie milk for tea and coffee. But these were minor things and overall it was a nice spot to stay for 2 nights.

Nice big room with a great view to the west of Alnwick. Bathroom and beds were clean and well maintained. The food in the pub downstairs was great - I had a Sunday roast dinner and it's one of the two or three best meals I had in England, to got with a wedding dinner in the Lake District and the fish and chips from Carlo's in Alnwick.

The biggest issue I had was mostly my own fault. Shepherd's Rest is on the edge of town, but I didn't realize when booking that it's uphill all the way from the center of town, which made it a bit difficult to get there dragging my luggage after me. If you can, take a cab or drive yourself up to the place, it'll save some stress and shoe leather.

Amazing very friendly staff. 10 mins from alnwick town and then your in beautiful countryside. Very friendly cows near by. Great room. Spacious everything I needed for travelling alone. Felt really safe. Booked up again for August. Think it will be my go to place to stay. Easy access to everywhere on foot or by bus. 10 stars review. Thank you. 🌹 Anne 🌹

Totally adequate accommodation. A lovely friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are great, and the breakfast is excellent. The room was clean and was equipped with everything you need for a short stay. You can access the room without having to go through the pub but I recommend a cheeky beer or two, next to the open, log fire, in the bar.

Nothing to dislike.

A Mahoosive thanks to Susan Clare Lewis and the girls serving in the bar! We had another fantastic stay with you. Must also give a huge thanks to the chef..fab food..cooked perfectly and presented beautifully.. we just can’t fault you or anything about the pub. The welcome and friendliness is top notch..didn’t want to go home but know we have to so that we can return to enjoy your hospitality again. Thank you..all of you, for giving us three pretty fantastic days! Kind Regards and best wishes to you all. Daniel and Colette Popovici 😎

Nothing..only that we had to leave ..

Friendly staff and ideal location for a night out in Alnwick Nice size room for 3 adults

2 single beds squeaked every time you moved. We were not given a key for the front door so when arrived at midnight, we could not get in. Only had a key for our room.

Lovely owner Sue, down to earth

As much as we paid for full breakfast Had 8 different foods on the plate , tomatoes not grilled or cooked ,poor sausage , bacon not crispy. Think if they cut it down to 5 items and cooked well Would be excellent 🤔

Staff were friendly and we were able to park at the pub before a short walk into town - saved parking!

The boiler made a loud sound whenever we flushed the toilet or had the hot tap on. No major issue in fairness.

Bed was comfy and clean. Breakfast cooked to perfection.

Bathroom area was small. Breakfast consisted of a full English, no cereal or toast (apart from on your plate). No fruit juice offered and no one around to ask.
