The Bondgate Boutique

Perfect for my short stay. I stayed in a quiet clean and what one might describe as a cosy room, located at the rear of the property on the ground floor with a very comfy (soft) double bed, small cupboard storage for clothes and a small ensuite bathroom. Good daily room cleaning service. I would however recommend selecting or requesting a larger room if travelling with a partner. For example, the front rooms at the front of the property looked significantly more spacious light and airy.

Would have been nice if the room could be equipped with a small ironing board and iron for ironing clothes, along with a room safe. This was fine however for my short stay, given the excellent location.

I was impressed not only by the room itself but by the little touches which made my stay extra special - not that I used it but they even provided a cork screw. Plus there was a little terrace with a chair and potted daffodils. Again, I didn't use it but the thought that had gone into making my stay special was beyond exceptional, and for a price which was extraordinarily good value. And only yards away from the Playhouse. I travel to many places to see Peter Knight's Gigspanner and this was by far the best accommodation I have encountered. I'd come again, just to stay in The Bondgate Boutique.

The boutique has a fantastic location and is very comfortable. The bed is fantastic and there are so many thoughtful little touches to make your stay more comfortable and made you realise how much the owners care about providing a good service for the guests. It was absolutely immaculate too, and the perfect place to wander out and see Alnwick. We were on the ground floor and initially a bit worried if it would be too noisy (although they provide ear plugs!) but it absolutely wasn’t. I also appreciated the big thick curtain in addition to the blinds, which meant we could sleep properly.

The only thing I didn’t like was that in our room at least the water pump/heater (not sure what it was) was quite noisy and makes a regular noise when using the shower. Not a massive issue though, just something to be aware of.

Very easy to check-in as code emailed for the front door well ahead of arriving and key is left in the lock of your room door. Room was spotless and the quality of furnishing is very much in evidence. Lots of pillows to choose from on the bed. Shower in bathroom was easy to use and hot water came through straight away. Lots of options when it comes to lighting the room be it lamps or wall lights. Wifi easy to connect to and worked well. Nice little touches like a few sweeties as well as biscuits and chocolate mints. Your allowed to park in the hotel/pub next door called the Plough which you enter via a couple of alleyways which might be a bit tight if you have a larger car. Once your in however lots of room.

Bondgate Boutique is in a great location. Just outside the old gate into the town with easy walks into town where there was a wide selection of restaurants and cafes as well as shops, to the theatre/cinema a few yards away and out to Barter Books and the park. Parking next door in The Plough car park works well and as it was raining when we arrived being able to pause in the drive near our entrance whilst bags were unloaded was helpful. The room was compact but adequate. All clean and tidy. Our room at the back was quiet.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was well equipped and very clean. The location was great and the self check-in was very easy. We would stay again.

The room was at the back of the hotel (which was fine) but it only had a small window so the room was dark without the lights on. This would be fine if it's just a place to sleep however, there was a small gap around the door so a night you could see the light from the hallway. Suggestion: There were 2 hand towels hanging on hooks on the back of the bathroom door. We weren't sure whether theses were clean for us to use or left by the previous occupiers. Would be clearer if they were left with the bath towels.

The excellent location,very comfortable well equipped room with plenty of tea /coffee,biscuits.

It’s quite noisy which was expected as it’s on the main road so couldn’t have the windows open at night but they do provide earplugs. Shower and water temperature abit hit & miss ,got scalded on my stomach when it went red hot for a couple of seconds,we did mention it and there was workmen there the next day trying to rectify it .

Well located in Alnwick with the Plough Inn next door, the Playhouse, shops, restaurants, Alnwick Garden, etc just a short walk. The amazing Barters books also just a 2-3 minute walk. I liked the self check in with the key code. Although room small, as advertised, it was perfectly comfortable for 2, well appointed and clean. Little details thought of such as dressing table and mirror located well with plug socket next to it, vanity mirror, chocolates and nice biscuits, fan, milk in a fridge in hall, iron and board, hairdryer. Although room 1 by front door, I was not disturbed and people seemed respectful. Secondary glazing meant road noise was not intrusive. Owners were responsive and I liked that I was able to store my luggage for the morning on my check out day. I will definitely stay here again and it was great value.

Nothing to dislike really. Only point to mention is that en-suite shower head height would be low for tall people but it wasn’t a problem for me.

1) fab location, very short walk to Alnwick gardens & Castle and exploring the beautiful North East coastline 2) Central for Alnwick town, which is very historic market town with independent shops & plenty of places too eat 3) This is a room only establishment but plenty of choices for breakfast. Best value is Barter Books a second hand book shop in the old railway station/sheds and has so much character as well as so many books of all genres at second hand price’s 4) Bed was extremely comfortable and shower had plenty of pressure to start your day, nice toiletries as well 5) Room 3 is small, but suitable for a single occupant, lovely touch of handmade chocolates and sweets as a welcome gift,although an outside terrace, it was a bit basic a little tlc could have made it a bit more welcoming 6) This is also a self service check in, not an issue personally and room serviced daily

We had a small room at the back of the house so we were not disturbed by the traffic on the main road. The furnishings and bedding are all of very high quality and we were provided with lots of small extras ( chocolates, teas, etc) which we appreciated. There are no meals available so we ate at the Plough next door. We parked our car in the Plough's carpark and walked to the Castle and other attractions. We really enjoyed our stay in Alnwick.

We found that the wifi in our room was not very strong. We also had some trouble accessing our room as the code was sent to us months in advance and we had not read that email carefully. Usually, if there is no one present at the location a reminder of the code is sent a few days in advance of arrival. We were able to reach the owner and he resent the code immediately.
