Good size room Location Friendly staff Good breakfast

Location: on the edge on town (but only 5 mins walk to the Barter bookshop and town) On a junction so could have been noisy, but was in fact, really quiet. Basic room booked so had little expectations; room was fine, good facilities, wasn’t there very much so room shape not too important. Didn’t eat there at night so can’t comment but other people’s food looked good. Breakfast was wonderful; such a choice and such generous portions,.. Great local bar. Staff were really friendly and helpful. There were lovely people serving breakfast and the reception staff were very helpful in allowing me to leave my luggage in reception for many hours after I checked out (so I could see the town) But can I commend Tyler in particular in being exceptionally helpful and friendly.

We stayed in a little annexe attached to the main hotel which we loved, and it had its own entrance. It was really easily accessible, just off the A1, and only 15 minutes walk into Alnwick, past Barter Books which is well worth a visit. There’s free parking at the hotel which saves parking costs in Alnwick as well. We had breakfast included in the stay, which was delicious. There’s a good selection of cereals, fruit, and pastries then you can select from a number of cooked options including omelettes, full English, and porridge. We also ate in the restaurant and had a really good experience then as well. Good sized portions and really tasty. All the staff we saw were friendly and helpful and we’d definitely stay again. It’s ideally located for exploring other parts of Northumberland as well.

The room was comfortable with many of the home comforts we wanted. Enjoyed a good night's sleep there. Hotel is just the right distance from town for us with a good walk to the shops/Castle, etc. It was an excellent location for visiting the lovely Northumberland area and its attractions. We enjoyed the evening meals, and the breakfasts were really good. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. We'd definitely choose this hotel if we visited the area again.

There wasn't really anything we didn't like. The hotel is situated on a road junction, and traffic can be a little bit noisy during the day. The traffic noise did stop later at night and never bothered us. A few hooks for coats would be appreciated in the bedroom and a few more in the bathroom. These would be a nice-to-have but not a deal breaker.

Location is excellent, just a 10 minute walk to Alnwick. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included, buffet and then cooked as well, the dogs each got their own sausage which was a lovely touch 😀. Bed & room were huge, everything clean & comfortable. Cheapest hotel I could find in Alnwick for the dates I wanted. Dogs were made very welcome. We had one everning meal which was good. All in all I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed in room 25 which was accessed through a little annexe door and staircase. Was a bit noisy at night with people coming in/out. Could hear next door a lot too and the traffic from the main road. Didn't have the best sleep just because of the noise. Fragranced toilet paper??? 😄

I can't fault The Oaks at all. Stayed for 2 nights with my grandson and will definitely be returning . Everything was perfect.....room was immaculate..beds very comfy....staff were superb....service and food was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble... Everyone was polite and friendly ....ate in the restaurant both nights and all courses were delicious. My grandsons allergies were catered for exceptionally well, which was a huge comfort and very reassuring. Highly recommended for a stay here....Great location for Alnwick, Alnmouth, and Bamburgh. Thank you, The Oaks....we look forward to seeing you soon 😊

We couldn't have been happier with our choice of The Oaks Hotel for our stay in Alnwick. The staff are welcoming and the bedroom was perfect. Comfortable, Queen sized bed in a large bedroom with table and chairs and large, well appointed bathroom. The room was warm and nicely decorated. It was also very quiet. The breakfasts were amazing - you don't need lunch! We had dinner on our first night and it was of a very high standard. Although the venue looks like a pub from the outside (which it is) don't be put off - you will get a great night's sleep and enjoy some really good quality restaurant food with a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. It's a short walk into the town centre of Alnwick and an excellent base for visiting local sites including Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne as well as country walks. We will definitely return. It is also dog friendly! Thank you for a lovely stay.

We cannot think of anything!

Staff are great. I had some cancellations with other hotels in the area, and when I booked the Oaks, probably due to stress of previous cancellations, I booked it for a day earlier. I did not realise even when I got sent an attendance confirmation request closer to date. I did ask for change of dates via booking.com and that was possible but the message was meant to be sent to the hotel to confirm, which hotel never received. After contacting booking.com and explaining hotel is happy to move the booking but are not getting messages, they said they will message the hotel to confirm. Hotel did not get any messages again. The Oaks accommodated me anyway, and it was the mornings of my departure they finally got a message from booking.com. I am very grateful to both ladies and Martin for taking my messages and making moving the date possible despite communication problems with booking.com. you are great, thank you! Room was very clean and breakfast tasty!

Found the mattress a bit hard but that is personal preference issue

The location of the hotel was perfect. So easy to find and very close to the castle and gardens. Staff were friendly and hospitable and went out of their way to make sure everything was ok. The room was modern and well-kept, with everything you would expect included. The bathroom was lovely and clean and also surprisingly roomy. I particularly liked the complementary shower gel, which smelt wonderful!

The bedroom needed dusting. There was fluff at the bottom of the radiator and cobwebs drifting on the wall behind the bed.

The location to the town is just a 10 minute stroll away and 5 min walk to supermarket should you require provision. The beds were exceptional and gave us quite possibly the best nights sleep.

We didn't like the service for breakfast. We waited for coffee tea & juices for over 30 mins in which time they brought out drinks for a table who arrived 5mins after us, we asked for a mix of white & brown bread and only got white. So the decent breakfast turned up after 15 mins yet we didn't have our toast or drinks, we asked repeatedly about our drinks and toast. Why didn't they serve drinks first is beyond me, the excuse the lady said "it's not me who is dealing with your drinks". We'll she took our order! Shame as the food the previous night was lovely as was the service.
