We had a comfortable nights stay in the garden room at the Turks Head. The kingsize bed in the bedroom was excellent and garden room is a great space and very reasonably priced. The breakfast was very nice with a good choice of cooked breakfast options. Staff very friendly and on the whole a nice visit.

My daughters slept in the living room area. The sofa bed wasn't very comfortable at all so we decided to use an airbed we had brought with us rather than risk them sleeping badly. Would recommend they upgrading the sofa bed as it seems old, difficult to assemble and mattress very thin.

The breakfast was very tasty and good quality and friendly service. Dinner also was excellent and reasonably priced. The room was much bigger than expected, comfortable bed and large leather sofa. The wine (merlot) though, not good. The pub very crowded and busy but huge outside garden area. Parking not a problem. all the staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly. The lady (Gina) was the only person serving behind the bar even when the pub was crowded. It was amazing the speed at which she worked and not at all flustered; quite amazing.

The only annoyance was that as the room was above the pub, the low frequency noise from the ( I assume juke box) was irritating but stopped at closing time. Breakfast starting at 8.30 was rather late especially if you needed an early departure the next day. Also, before arrival, we wanted to book a table for dinner at 8.30pm, only to be told the kitchen closed at 8pm!! and this was a Friday night in June so we had to settle for 7-7.30. I felt sorry for visitors, obviously from abroad who wandered in at 8.15 looking for something to eat and told the kitchen had closed. They found his incredulous! Staff told them the chippy up the road might still be open. One visitor said, What time do you have to get up in this country?!

Location is great. In the middle of Rothbury and a short drive to Cragside. Free parking which is very close to the pub. Clean and warm. The bed is comfortable. Staff are really lovely, friendly and accommodating. We felt really welcome. The breakfast and evening meals were good quality, freshly made and substantial.

Nothing. If being over critical it could do with a towel rail in the bathroom.

great location, food was very tasty and the room was spacious. We visited with 2 dogs and were given the Garden Room which opened up to the beer garden. This was very handy for having the dogs and letting them have a runaround (although I don’t think we would like to stay in the summer as I can imagine the noise levels would be quite high!)

When we arrived at the hotel, we were stood in a busy bar waiting for staff to serve customers before we could check in. Front of house although professional, wasn’t welcoming or friendly. The cleanliness of the room could be improved (dust from the beams on the ceiling) and the heated radiator in the bathroom didn’t work. The phone signal was non existent so we requested the wifi password from 2 of the bar staff - both of which were unable to give the details.

Ideal location, have stayed a few times. Rooms clean and fresh.

I would say portion sizes of meals are reducing, probably to try and keep price down. Definite difference in meals from previous stays. We lost power in half of the bedroom through the night for some reason, no bathroom light or sockets. Not good when you wear a cpap machine to breathe at night, obviously not the landlady's fault, but did cause a lack of sleep. Restored power around 3hrs later.

Staff were excellent, helping as much as they could and looked after us very well. Room was spacious and clean and looked recently refurbished. The food was lovely and generous portion sizes.

The room was over the bar which was noisy on a Saturday night (understanderably) and loud voices outside until 1am kept us awake.

Wonderful central location with easy access to lots of walks and free off street parking easily available. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. we had the Garden Room in the beer garden which was very solid and sound insulated even when the garden was busy. Breakfast had a great choice of hot options and the pancakes in particular were superb. We had one evening meal there too which was super quality and priced well. The bed itself was very comfortable too.

The Turk's Head was fine. The bedroom, and bathroom, were spacious. The breakfast was good although the coffee was not - that's an observation and not a criticism. The pub downstairs was good as was the restaurant. The food was good and the portions very large, as favoured by northerners; I'm never sure why The staff were excellent

We really loved staying at the Turks Head. Very comfortable and clean, very friendly welcoming staff, almost like a family. The menu of food gave us excellent choices from traditional to imaginative and vegan, or low calorie. The setting is just lovely, in the middle of the very beautiful little town of Rothbury, very handy for Cragside, and not far from Alnwick and the coast. Lovely countryside all around. We will definitely come back to the Turks Head. And stay longer hopefully.

Nothing except we only booked 2 nights!
