The Staff were more than friendly and couldn't do enough for us, there was a direct telephone to order a taxi which was there within 15 minutes to take us into the City centre. Having only taken over the property 2 months previously, Pauline is starting to put things in place, and Mel did a great job with the breakfast, We were back after the bar was shut, but we were had no problem gaining access through the back of the building as we were told. The room was very clean,

Could have done with a kettle or tea making facility in the room, coat hangers were missing from the hanging area, (but the previous person in that room had apparently taken them), the bed was a bit lumpy but was strangely VERY comfortable. I know Pauline is aware of all these issues, and has them all in hand, as someone said ' This is not the Ritz' well you aren't paying Ritz prices, for the price we paid, we found everything we needed very comfortable and pleasant service, well done Pauline, I'm sure you will turn the place around with the great staff you have including Toni and Mel, I think you have done a great job in the short time you have been there, this was echoed by the other three lads who we met there.

The size of the bar and how clean it was the locals were very nice too

Didn't get to eat the food we ate out but the staff were lovely rooms a bit small and basic but spotless clean it's a cheap hotel so don't expect the ritz but for the money you pay its excellent value

Upon first arrival it is clear this venue is in a bit of a run down/industrial area, however upon entering the premisis the lady who greeted me at the bar was lovely, directed me to my room and the parking to the rear. When i got in the room i was shocked at how spacious it was, how clean, and how quiet. Room was very modern, bed was very comfy. I honestly dont think you can ask for more given the amazingly competitive price point. I was here for a night out, and it was a great place for this.

The blind did not cover the whole window, and was very thin, meaning a lot of light could get in. I was up fairly early so this wasnt a problem for me, but i can see it being annoying if you wanted a lie in. The free parking, while an excellent bonus, could do with some markings for spaces, i was concerned i may be blocking someone in, but there was nothing to direct you otherwise.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I never had breakfast as I left before breakfast was served but the evening meals were very good and tasty. The room was clean and so was the building itself. You can see it has recently been decorated and it is nice. The room was warm and comfy with a nice en-suite.

I could hear the music in my room from downstairs. Not too loud to disturb my sleep but it could still be heard. There is parking if you're quick to get a space in the rear of the building as there was only 4 spaces I think or after 4.30 on the main road Which was quite busy.

Not the most beautiful part of Birmingham but ideal for my purposes (exhibiting at NEC). I did not expect a 5 star hotel but it was certainly value for money - relatively comfortable, clean and well appointed. Decor was more than acceptable for the location and age of the property. Breakfast set me up well for the day. Would have liked tea making facilities in room but hey- laptop reception and phone reception good. Lots of hot water and relatively quiet bearing in mind its main road location. Good stopping point for driving through - Saltley/Alum Rock is not really a destination! If you are a drinker then the choice of spirits in the bar is amazing

Access from parking area was a bit grim-looking and rather a lot of stairs for those with walking difficulties

A lovely basic double room on the top floor of the Saltley Inn, a pub a 10 minute bus ride away from Birmingham City centre. Very friendly and helpful staff, who helped with bus information to get into the city, helped us take drinks to our roomed and were very kind, friendly and chatty. They madus feel very warm and welcome. Our double room, number 13, had a small night stand at each side of the double bed, one table with a small stool to sit on, a flat TV on the wall, heater in room and en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. Towels are provide along with toilet paper. This room has a window. Several choice of foods for breakfast are available for a fee from 9 to 11 am daily. Tea/coffee is free for guests. Good free WiFi in the entire building. Steps up to rooms, no lift/elevator available. Stairs are very steep. The building; bar, pool room, rooms do not appear to be wheelchair accessible, maybe a ramp at the back of the propety to enter/exit the bar. Bar area has comfy chairs and sofies guests and members of the public. Alcohol served in bar from 11 am onwards. Bus stops very close to the building across a small road. Taxi from Birningham New Street train station to property approx UK£8.

Window in room couldn't be opened because handle was broken. Room a little basic in terms of furnature. Bathroom quite small for 2 people. No lift/elevator to any of the floors. Difficutl to get a taxi on Fridays between 12-2 pm because of local taxi drivers at prare. Bar can get noisy and busy on Friday afternoons and weekends.

For a quick (and, in fact, my first) Birmingham trip a really affordable place with good bus access in order to get to downtown Birmingham. The staff had welcomed me with open arms, check in and out were fairly quick and easy and it was just what I needed for that quick trip.

the hotel had good staff who went beyond our expectations, we were provided with the crockery to make our own breakfast as we left early, one room had a kettle, it would be helpful for all rooms to have tea making facilities . the rooms were comfortable not cramped and clean, excellent shower. there are local shops round the corner which are fun to visit and lots of local take-aways, for access to the city it was well placed, we visited the Common Wealth Games.

kettle in the room,,possibly access to earlier breakfast, a how to access the hotel may help we just kept turning right

Ease of access late at night - very friendly and helpful staff, Room was a good size and quiet, slept really well. Price was absolutely spot on, very happy.

NOT THE FAULT OF THE SALTLEY INN - Due to many roadworks Google maps never sent me the same way twice including to a closed motorway junction...book for reasonable distance to NEC unhappy due to unforeseen circumstances.
