The location was excellent, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were very helpful. I needed a fan, and they delivered it straight away. The room was clean, and the pub was very welcoming with a good selection of drinks. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Next time, I would bring my fire stick for the TV as a lone traveller it would have been nice to be able to watch TV. With a bit of updating to the rooms, this hotel has the potential to be fantastic.

The bathroom in my room was very outdated, and while I was having a shower, the bath filled up with water. So, I was unable to rinse out the bath after I used it. The same happened with the sink while I was brushing my teeth. For the price I paid for the room, I expected it to be a bit more up to date. The bathroom was very outdated, as was the TV. Also, a cooked breakfast option would have been nice. Although the continental breakfast was ok. Lastly, compared to other hotels, I've stopped in for the same price check out at 10:30am is very early. So, a late checkout option would have been great.

I booked out this hotel for family and friends to stay in following my wedding. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful in the booking process and did everything they could to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The hotel only offered continental breakfast, but given that we had booked out the whole hotel, they agreed to do a hot breakfast on a pre-order, which was fantastic! Our family and friends also enjoyed the restaurant and bar the evening before, both areas of which are nicely designed and have a nice ambience. Some of the rooms are quite old-fashioned in terms of aesthetics, but The Lansdowne is such an old hotel, and the majority of the hotel has been recently refurbished. This also didn't impact the level of cleanliness and the quality of service, which was great. Also don't be put off by the lack of parking as there is a big car park nearby you can pay and display at, and it's very reasonable. Would recommend The Lansdowne to all looking to stay in Calne!

An excellent breakfast, much nicer than cooked. Nice variety of different foods, tea and coffee. Plenty of choice of where to sit, no queues anywhere.

Everything was nice and perfectly adequate apart from the shower over the bath. It was definitely a health hazard as very difficult to use the shower due to how it was located. As the ceiling was sloping due to what seemed as if slope for stairs outside the room, you could hit your head , knock yourself out and have a very nasty accident. If it was a largish person both in height and width I can't see them being able to use the shower. This was Room 206. Next time I stay I will not accept that room if shower still the same. Rest of room was perfectly acceptable.

A lovely place, nice old fashioned area and shops. The only downside was it being holiday and Friday/Saturday summery nights there was sometimes a high volume of merrymaking. Calne is a lovely place with a beautiful park near the hotel. We went out for dinner because it was quieter, but the hotel menu looked delicious. The breakfast was continental- good selection of cereal, toast, biscuit/cake coffee etc. People seemed to be very satisfied. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.

The only downside was it being holiday and Friday/Saturday summery nights there was sometimes a high volume of merrymaking. There were no faults with the hotel itself that I could see.

Nice large room. Small but vey clean bathroom, works well. Towels worthy of 5-star hotels. Very comfortable bed. Just a continental breakfast, simple but ok. Great places nearby for full English breakfasts at reasonable prices. No parking on site, but very nice open-air parking just 3 minutes’ walk. First 60 minutes free and I think free during the night. Car was safe, we had a lot of stuff in the car. Possible to park in front of the hotel for loading/unloading.

Coffee at breakfast could have been better.

Spacious rooms, well located, easy enough to find free parking for an overnight stay on a nearby road. Breakfast was a simple continental breakfast but fine. Staff were a little bit preoccupied but it was christmas eve morning when we had our breakfast so they were probably busy with other things.

The room was very hot - heating on full blast and our window wouldn't stay open by itself. Tried to turn the radiator down but it was still very warm. We arrived to a very busy bar full of people (23 Dec), not surprising, but the noise didn't really travel to our room upstairs so that was fine.

Me and my partner only stayed for 1 night last minute and wish we had longer there! The room was lovely! The bed was very comfortable and great shower, the decor was lovely too. The receptionist was very helpful and kind, as we had to leave before breakfast was served she offered to leave us some breakfast bits in a bag to collect on our way out. I thought this was a great gesture. Overall we had a lovely stay and would stay again

as we only stayed for 1 night last minute it was more than what we were expecting. There could be more parking options, but we didn’t know the area so maybe there was more and we didn’t know about it. Other than that there wasn’t anything else to not like.

Friday night dinner was absolutely exceptional, we chose the more expensive menu and throughly enjoyed all three courses that we each had. The Shiraz wine that the waitress brought went well with the meal and afterwards by itself.

We would have preferred the option of having a cooked English breakfast, rather than just Continental. I would also prefer to eat my breakfast in the restaurant rather than the bar area, it wasn’t at all comfortable or convenient.

I loved everything about this hotel. From the outside it looked a bit drab but once you stepped over the door and got the history of it, the outside was in keeping with the period of the hotel. Our room was lovely and certainly big enough for 2 adults. Breakfast was continental but had lots of choice. Dinner was good also and a menu to suit all tastes. I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again. We had our car but there was no parking at the hotel. There was a pay and display carpark about 200 yards away and for all day parking we paid just over £4. Calne Town Committee (or something along those words) paid for the first 2 hours and parking from 6.00 PM to 8.00 AM was free. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days and wished we could have stayed longer.

I really do not have anything that I didn't like about this hotel.

I thought the hotel was atmospheric and the room and en suite were very nice. Clean. Good tea and coffee making facilities in room. The staff were all very helpful. There was no problems with noise from other rooms. Nice location in a quiet, small country town. No parking on site but parking nearby. I would consider staying again.

Just a small couple of points. Breakfast on the Saturday didn't start until 8am and I feel this could be earlier. As I had to leave earlier I didn't have breakfast so cannot comment upon that. Being a Friday night and on main street in a small town there was some occasional street noise and the member of my family who stayed in another room said there was a lot of noise from customers in the beer garden at the back of the premises. However the noise reduced towards and stopped at closing time. This may not be a problem in winter with the windows closed and persons not drinking outside. There was no noise from other rooms. Having said all this it was not a problem and I would consider staying again.
