Hillside Bed and Breakfast0

The B&B was very homely and easy to get to. The car park was ok (round the back was a grass area). The owner was extremely helpful when we phoned asking for an early check in. The breakfast was ok, lots of choice which was good and all included. The size of our room was brilliant, very spacious room including tea and coffee area, dressing table area as well as bed, wardrobe and 3 chairs! Overall brilliant B&B and brilliant host.

The bathroom was a little small, especially the shower

The building is beautiful, room was huge (family suite), exceptionally clean, spacious, tastefully decorated. It had everything we needed. We were originally booked into a double but the lovely owner upgraded us on arrival. Good parking behind the building. The bed was big and comfy. Shower was lovely. The breakfast was delicious and had so many options. Will definitely be back.

Sue the host couldn’t do enough. I was touched she remembered I liked earl grey tea and she’d thought about everything like a chargeable torch to walk to the village pub and back! Excellent breakfast with fresh fruit also provided by sue and loved hearing from her about the fascinating history of the b&b a former blacksmiths. Really enjoyed my stay!

Maybe some quiet background music for breakfast and I prefer soap to shower gel but these were only minor things.

Owner was very friendly and helpful. Wasn't anything she wouldn't do for us. Room was what you would want for a week's holiday.. had all you needed. Even with it being a small double there was a small fridge. Put our freezer blocks in her freezer overnight and gave them back at breakfast.

Extraction fan not working in bathroom.

8/10, I stayed early April ’22. Very convenient location in Sandford. A period property. Sue made me very welcome, opening the room and making it available to me early in the day I arrived which suited me since my car had broken down and I was awaiting news from Simon at Fry’s Garage in Tedburn St Mary. The room was very clean, large and comfortable. Sandford is a lovely village and one of the local pubs, the Lamb Inn is superb (excellent food, plenty of good beers and a good choice of single malt Speyside scotch, and very friendly as well!). Sue made the breakfast at Hillside and that was very nice indeed, excellent way to start the day. A very good B&B. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you Sue.

There was nothing I didn't like, Hillside is a very good B&B!

I loved the room I stayed in. Extremely comfortable bed, nicely made and fresh milk and water for a drink on arrival. The owner was lovely and tried to make me have breakfast lol.

The bathroom had pubes and hairs in the shower and on the window sil. Under the toilet seat was a bit dirty. The telly was very dusty. Didn’t like the constant door banging early hours in the morning.

The delicious cooked breakfast served and cooked to order by Sue was really hearty. The wholemeal toast and fresh fruit salad was especially nice. The room with separate private bathroom was very comfortable with a jug of fresh milk provided in the fridge for coffee/tea making. Toiletries in the bathroom provided to use if you are travelling ‘light’. Thoughtful touches.

Nothing, everything was thought through.

Sue was very welcoming and immediately made me feel at home. The little things made a big difference to my enjoyment. Fresh milk, drawing the curtains during a heatwave to ensure that the room temperature wasn't unbearable, and not judging my baked beans phobia. It really felt like I was staying at home as opposed to a B&B. I would whole heartedly recommend the hillside to anyone looking for a fabulous B&B in a picturesque location.

Breakfast was excellent, great service with a large range of cereals, fresh fruit, and a varied range of hot options from the traditional full English to eggs benedict. Plentiful tea and coffee and as much toast and preserves as you required

Could not improve on anything, great service brilliant location for our needs and really knowledgeable staff, who seemed to have the time to stop and offer advice as to where to go places to see. Also good knowledge of places to eat.

Excellent B&B accommodation booked all 3 rooms for family of 2 adults, 2 teenagers (15 and 17). Beautiful, character cottage with comfortable spacious individual rooms. Fridge/TV and supply of drinks welcomed. Good Wifi. Sue was a marvelous host and very friendly. Breakfast of fresh fruit/muesli/toast cooked English and vegetarian was superb. Convenient parking behind the B&B. Rose and Crown pub opposite (open Thurs-Sun when we stayed). The Lamb Inn a short walk away which serves good quality food including vegetarian/vegan options, booking essential as very popular. Buses run from the Square into the city .
