Spa service was excellent Receptionist good Bar staff lovely We had a large attics room which was lovely as an upgrade due to decorating works which was appreciated Grounds beautiful and we had good weather to be able to enjoy them

Waiting staff at dinner was appalling Just plonked bottle of wine down on table Only brought one starter then had to wait for mine which was over cooked near burnt Disscusted that we were as resident charged a service charge Would never ever stay at a Marriott again the be ripped off in this way Food was already expensive for a captive market With limited menu choices Stake served on its own chips extra ridiculous Should have gone to Middletons Not just for the poor service but as residents for two days we require a restaurant as part of our residential fee should not be an extra service on the price of the hotel room

The property is absolutely beautiful and in the most lovely setting. Some refurbishment happening but this was not detrimental to our stay at all. Breakfast was lovely with a lot of choice.. if you couldn’t find something you like, you would be extremely fussy! The leisure area was lovely with a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, spoilt for choice. The staff were all lovely and a credit to the hotel. There is plenty of parking. The hotel is only a 15 minute drive into the center where you will find lots of shops. We had a fabulous stay and would definitely recommend.

Lovely place, fantastic scenery, comfortable bedding, friendly helpful staff, breakfast was delicious. Easy checking in and out. Pool and gym were clean and well maintained and very nice to use without too many people in there.

The room phone didn't work and couldn't get fixed. There was no bin liners in the bins (for environmental reasons is ok) but it made tea bags and rubbish feel a bit wrong. The lamp shades looked like they had seen better days and could generally have been a bit updated. The jacuzzi was out of order during our stay. Certainly an inadequate amount of tea, milk and sugar provided (although reception bought more without hesitation)

The location was perfect and the staff at the hotel were very attentive and friendly. We felt very welcomed during our stay. My children loved the pool and wanted to go every day!

When we were in our room we could hear lots of slamming doors which kept me up every night. It felt like people were in and out of rooms constantly and the doors bang shut which can feel worse at night- making you jump. The dinner menu was lovely but I would have liked to have seen a change to the menu as we were eating there every night- it got to a point where we didn’t want to eat there. The children menu was very limited too.

Location great and room was lovely, building and restaurant nice. Great view from room, nice size room and bathroom and comfy bed. Very clean and tidy.

No herb teas or decaffeinated tea in room or decaf tea options or milk alternatives for breakfast. No vegetarian ‘meat substitute’ products at breakfast. Dinner was lovely but I asked for it to be onion free as I had an onion intolerance, but the meal had leaks in it, which are a member of the onion family, and they weren’t included in the meal description; I also thought this would have been checked with me beforehand. I individually picked all these out as I didn’t want to ask for another meal as my partner had his meal and it would have meant us eating at different times.

Staff were incredible and beyond nice and helpful! Lisa in the health club was so happy and friendly to us as she welcomed us back Always so kind and assists us with everything we need as me and my wife are registered blind! 😀 Lovely and tasty breakfast with lots of variety. Tempo bar is great too, always go there after using the fantastic indoor pool and massive gym! 💪🏼 😀 Room is so good and always kept clean and replenished.

Me and my wife were trying so hard to find anything we didn't like...And the only thing we could think of was...The room could have had more (or brighter) lights. As we are registered blind we need as much bright light as we can.

The location was stunning and well situated to allow us to explore the local area, and there's lots to see and do around there. The friendliest of the staff, they were polite, cheerful and very helpful. The food was outstanding and plentiful, the room comfortable, warm and clean. The Spa and pool area were very enjoyable and relaxing, warm and clean.

The only thing I would change would be the pillows, they are very soft and I prefer a firmer pillow. This is such a small thing that I feel bad even mentioning it, sorry.!! Then there was the weather!! Our visit was during the recent bad weather, and the area was blanketed in snow, very beautiful, but did put some limitations on us!! But we can't blame the Hotel for that!!

Great setting, with lovely views and walks. The room was very grand and was very clean. The restaurant was nice and the seating areas were also very pleasant to socialise and relax in.

The only negative I have regarding our stay is nothing the hotel have done or probably can do anything about. We stayed in a suite (in a sperate older building) and it has 2 or 3 rooms downstairs and 2 or 3 rooms upstairs. We were in one of the downstairs rooms (112) which meant that when the person above us decided to wake up at 6.45am on Sunday morning and walk around, talk on the phone, have the tv on, we heard everything. Being an old building when he walked around it shook our door, like something was banging on it. Again it was 6.45am! To me it was one of those things, but when you come away to relax without having to wake early with the kids, it would have been nice to be able to do that.

Beautiful old historic building and grounds. Currently being refurbished throughout. The rooms and much of the building are quite tired and will benefit greatly from the refurbishment. £10 Uber from the city centre. The breakfast was a little lacklustre and the vegan options were extremely limited, a large chain like Marriott could definitely do better. Pool, sauna & steam room were adequate but a little tired as per the rest of the hotel. The pool loungers were solid as concrete and extremely uncomfortable, poorly chosen.

The room was very spacious and had everything in it that we needed. The staff are fantastic, I phoned a few weeks prior to arrival to ask for birthday decorations and flowers for my wife, Tom was brilliant and followed my request to the letter. Breakfast was excellent with a huge range of items including cereals, pastries, cheese and a full English. The swimming pool and sauna was great to.

When we opened the bedroom windows, the outside wooden windowsill was rotten and falling apart. I had also paid for a room with a view, we was placed in a corner room meaning we had two windows and although we did have a nice view of the golf course out of one window, the view of the front gardens from the second window was obstructed by a tree, I wouldn't want the tree to be cut down but I think those rooms should be slightly cheaper considering. In the room there are four lamps, all are bright and light the room fairly well at night but the room didn't have a main light which left it dark in places at night.
