The Continental Hotel, Derby

Comfy room, recently all refurbished. Food and choice was good and staff were very very friendly and helpful.

Shower over bath pull up lever was stuck. TV remote had no back but worked fine. Didnt realise the hotel didnt serve alcohol, and fancied a glass of wine after a busy day. The lassi was lovely and someway towards mitigating the no wine. Restaurant didn't take contactless payment, although hotel did, and seems unattached from the hotel despite being in same building. I had to go back to room to find a payment card. Luckily thankfully and unusually I had one! Hotel had a bad reputation from previous incarnation which isn't deserved now.

From the moment I arrived I knew I was going to have a great stay. The receptionist was warm and welcoming, a little surprising as I arrived at a late hour. My room was clean and comfortable, if a little dated, although the bed was extremely comfy and the shower powerful. No traffic noise to be heard as I had a room at the rear of the hotel, which offered views over the city. Breakfast was plentiful and great value for money. The real gem was the adjoining hotel restaurant which was exquisite, with great food and excellent service. I stayed just under a week and couldn't fault anything at all.

The staff were really friendly and accommodating, the rooms and hotel were very clean we liked it that much we booked for a second night through the hotel it's self nothing was too much trouble. I come to derby every few weeks to see my partner and will definitely be using the hotel again

The only thing I can say that wasnt good but was not staffs fault was the room above us had very squeaky floor boards and bed and someone was having a good time woke us up around 11pm after that went quiet but then got woken again at 6am but as I sat this is not hotels fault and will not put me off booking here again

Hotel is nicely decorated and stylish. The amount we paid was very good value for money with the breakfast included. The room was nice, tidy and clean and the bathroom was a nice size.

The breakfast was lovely and the other reviews make it sound terrible. The only thing that let it down was there was no sausages and when it's an English breakfast, that's one of the main things your meant to have. As I'm doing keto there was only eggs and bacon to eat so sausages would have been very welcome. Other than that we had a lovely stay. We stay in derby quite frequently and we will definitely book this hotel again.

The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. The staff was exceptional and they helped me with baggage. Huge carpark which is a must for me. The breakfast was full English with a elegant style of continental. Beds were comfortable and bathroom nicely decorated with all needed. Food was exceptional Indian and English. Overall lovely stay with beautiful welcoming staff. 5 stars for quality and treatment.

There's nothing to dislike as all was exceptional for cleanliness and good room and customer services.

I don't often take time to write a review these days but I was really pleased with this gem! Clean, comfortable bed;. A peaceful nights sleep; a fan restaurant on site. Low cost. Free parking and Breakfast included. Good value deal. 15% off in their very authentic asian fusion restaurant, where I enjoyed a delicious and very impressive biryani ! Wonderful! Highly recommend! It's a good location too, 5 min drive into Derby city centre, easy reach of Pride park, on a bus route .and close to motorway links., I felt it was great value for the money spent.

Breakfast was included but was not their best feature, I was offered a "full English" cooked breakfast but told it's not their "specialty" so I just had toast and a drink, which was fine for me and I had some tinned tomatoes with it . Certainly didn't put me off returning as everything else was very good. Especially for the price,

For all those people who are giving poor reviews and expecting to stay in the Savoy with a Michelin starred breakfast...get a grip, for £46 with breakfast it's good value for money, not the best breakfast in the world but it certainly isn't the worst, we have stayed in hotels double the price and this one is much better, it's clean, staff are polite and a beautiful restaurant(alcohol free)...if you want a drink there is a shop 30yards away just take your own, which they don't have a problem with and even give you the glasses to drink. So in summary if you want a clean hotel for a cheap price whilst in derby you can't go wrong

People who give poor reviews expecting to stay in the Savoy The only real thing we didn't like is your ID being photocopied

The staff customer service Shreeta was exceptional I had a function to go to on the Sunday and there were no hair dryers available as they were all out with guests. Shreeta went above and beyond contacting housekeeping to get me a dryer. She is an asset to your staff team as is the new young tall guy at breakfast. Staff including cleaners all helpful and caring. My room 102 was spacious bed comfy lots of storage space.

That lift still is not working and no ramp outside front entrance stairs steep..i have a bad knee

Nice modern reception with lovely desk staff. Lovely complimentary English breakfast included with a range of juices, tea/coffee, muffins, pastries to choose from. Clean bathroom. Comfy bed with clean sheets and extra pillows provided in the wardrobe.

Room wasn’t anything like it was advertised, not bad but not how the pictures show either. Room was extremely outdated with old built in furniture that you could tell hadn’t been changed or even updated in at least the last 30 years. A lot of dust in the corners etc and the built in hair dryer in the unit didn’t work either. The window to our room was also smashed and hadn’t even been attempted to be fixed or even boarded up. The toilet seat also wasn’t attached to the toilet properly and my partner nearly fell off of it when going.

The room was much nicer than expected, modern but basic, which I expected. The bathroom wasn’t amazing, but was clean and did the job well. The shower was nice. The staff were really friendly, and even offered me parking at the front of the building when I couldn’t find parking at the rear.

It wasn’t clear there were two levels to the parking they offered, and it was very tight! The rooms and foyer were very warm, although I opened a window when I arrived and by the time I left and came back the room had cooled down sufficiently, just worth noting.
