Beautiful Market Town hotel, friendly staff, very comfortable room with good décor and spacious shower. We ate all of our meals in the restaurant and the food was excellent and competitively priced. Tables outside were available to sit, have a quiet drink and watch the world go by. The local buses stop across the street in the Market place for easy access to York which was only £4 return. Wished I could have stayed longer and will definitely be back!!

Very few negatives, the room was quite warm but it was the height of summer and the large window allowed the sun in throughout the day, the room was also situated above the kitchen area so probably absorbed the heat rising through the ceiling. No air conditioning available but the room was furnished with a fan to circulate the air.

Lovely clean room, much larger than expecting as we were given a family room instead of the booked double room, so it was nice to have the extra space. Bar is lovely and quirky with open and secluded areas which is a nice balanced layout. Lovely thick bouncy carpets throughout the hotel area. Staff all very polite and pleasant.

Breakfasf was a bit disappointing. I had the traditional breakfast without several items by request and asked for an extra slice of black pudding. I think they should rethink their black pudding portion surely it should be a slice not half a slice and maybe also consider their sausage choice as it was inedible with an overpowering preservative taste, which someone in our party mentioned the previous day. I also received an extra fried egg which I hadn't requested but it was a nice thought if it hadn't been undercooked with runny egg white on top. They weren't of course to know I'm not an egg fan and runny egg white is stomache churning to me. However, my partner had eggs benedict and enjoyed it.

The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. It had all of the usual facilities and a super-king bad. The bed was huge and so comfortable. At lunchtime we both had a hot, roast beef sandwich with chips and gravy, absolutely superb. The beef was cooked to perfection and dunking the sandwich in the gravy was a taste sensation. There is a great selection of craft ales in the bar. Breakfast was absolutely excellent and all of the food items were of excellent quality, way above supermarket brands and it was again, cooked to perfection. All of the staff that we met were friendly, polite and helpful, an absolute credit to the establishment. All in all a perfect overnight stay.

There was nothing that we didn't like.

Loved the restaurant and the food was delicious. Very friendly staff who looked after us very well. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and the room was quiet despite overlooking the Main Street.

It was very crowded and busy in the pub when we arrived and we weren’t used to having to go up to a bar with our suitcases to get booked in. The bathroom could have been cleaned better. Marks on our bathroom shelf throughout our stay. There were never any spaces in the car park so had to park on nearby streets. Currently lots of roadworks around the market place.

The beautiful choice of style has kept with the era of time with all the class you could ask for, from the wall paper in the ladies toilet to the walking stick stand at the front door. The beer was cold. The wine had breathed. Food was delicious, the choice of 2 on the menu was a perfect idea. Up the stairs to an over night stay where the decor continued, Clean stylish and most of all comfortable. Breakfast is included in your room price. The choice from full English to my love eggs Benny Toast cereal porridge yoghurt juices and tea and coffee. There is nothing I can say about the staff they could not do enough to make you feel welcome. I think the best judges of a great venue are the patrons we met so many people laughed and chatted, great all round experience. Have been travelling for 6 weeks and is in our top 3.

I didn't like that we never found this little gem earlier and only had a one night stay, heading back to London. There is nothing negative I can say.

Comfortable rooms, beautifully furnished and decorated with clean and modern en-suite bathroom. Nice selection of complimentary drinks. Friendly and helpful staff. I ate dinner in the dining room and it was absolutely delicious.

There was plenty of choice for the inclusive cooked breakfast including Full English. I chose Cinnamon French toast as I only wanted something smaller. This is such a minor criticism because it was delicious and really well (freshly) made but it came on the plate with nothing else. No fruit (garnish) or syrup. Just 2 slices of French toast. So as delicious as it was, I didn’t finish it as it was a bit monotonous.

The breakfast was very good. The dinner was exceptional all four of our group commented on how delicious the meals were. The rooms were all clean and comfortable. The staff especially the evening ones couldn’t have been more helpful to us. We arrived later than anticipated but the staff went out of their way to accommodate us for dinner.

The only thing we noticed in room 5.. Was a lack of table coasters and a tray for the tea / coffee making facilities which would protect the wooden table tops in what was a freshly refurbished room.

The staff are friendly and cheerful at this traditional village Pub/Hotel. It has a warm and comfortable atmosphere in the Bar. The food and service in the restaurant is excellent, both for evening meal and breakfast. The room I had on this visit was in the outside "courtyard" and it had all that was needed: I like to have a bath and a TV! There's no problem with finding a nearby parking space.

The bed was slightly on the hard side for me. The venue is perfect for me, as close to family. However, it's several miles out of York for those who are looking for City activities.

Great location in Easingwold. On the main square, handy for local shops, market and cafes plus it has a carpark. The George is run fantastically by Paul and his team. He came to the car to take our luggage to the rooms on arrival. Our rooms (8 & 9) had recently been stylishly refurbished and had super bedding, toiletries, tea/coffee/biscuits. We booked the evening meal which was so good we booked each evening. Breakfasts were excellent and in general nothing too much trouble. The hotel is obviously well supported by friendly locals too both in the bar and restaurant which says it all. My friend and I usually have a couple of breaks during the year and have stayed at several hotels up and down the country. We felt the George was second to none. The chef/s are extremely talented and create a first class delicious menu. Try the amazing Sunday lunch! Food and service excellent!
