The Crown Hotel, Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire

Would definitely recommend this hotel. After a disaster at another three star hotel, the Crown Hotel was a great place to stay. I couldn't believe it was only a three star. Pool/Spa/Sauna etc. Great location for visiting places in North Yorkshire. Breakfast was great choice and quality. Would definitely go back again. Lovely receptionist when we arrived. Friendly restaurant staff and very efficient. What we thought was going to be a dreadful anniversary break at the other hotel, turned out to be a great break for us. Thank you to all the staff.

Drinks probably a little pricey.

It is a great hotel brilliantly located for the A1. Boroughbridge is a charming town full of historical interest. There is a good little pool and really good bar and restaurant facilities with a great menu.

Two small things, look out because some of the double rooms have double beds and some king but that isn’t apparent when booking. We were able to switch our group around (we had four rooms) but if you just booked for yourself you might not have a choice. The staff were all brilliant apart from one chap in the restaurant who seemed pretty fed up and wasn’t very friendly (and cleared the table in a hurried and noisy way including dropping cutlery).

Room was lovely and clean, plenty of room in superior double, breakfast was great and staff very friendly, there is a swimming pool with jacuzzi which we didn’t know about but would have used if we had known

Meal time was a bit strict, on second night after a long very wet but enjoyable day racing, we were only given 55mins to get showered, changed etc before dinner, this spoilt the experience a little given the fact that there were many empty tables and few guests arriving for dinner all the time we were seated, the same thing happened again at breakfast, so be prepared to be controlled with eating and have to rush Also be aware this is a card only hotel, you cannot use cash, it’s nice to have the option, didn’t really effect us, but it clearly did some of the other guests Lastly the evening dinner menu is very limited on choice

We had a fabulous newly decorated room in the stable suite.. Staff were very helpful and the common areas of the hotel were bright and newly decorated. The breakfast was freshly cooked and served piping hot. One of the best I’ve ever had.

The bar service was a very slow and there was a new barman who needed more training on cocktails and gins but was left on his own. There were lots of staff on at breakfast but they needed more managing to improve service. There was no orange juice one morning and I had almost eaten my breakfast by the time I received some brown sauce. Overall though it’s a great hotel and we will be back

The staff were welcoming and attentive. The service in the restaurant in the evening was very good and the menu contained a range of choices that would suit most customers. The smoked trout dish I had was very tasty. The single rooms are of a good size, clean and comfortable. Guests can choose to shower or have a bath. The books and games in the room are a nice touch. There is a nice lounge on the ground floor and a coffee/ tea room that guests may wish to spend some time in, too.

This is an old building. If you have noisy guests through the wall, you will have difficulty sleeping. TV noise and loud conversation/snorers in other rooms can be heard at night.

We booked a large double for two nights over a Bank Holiday weekend. When we arrived we were told we had a free upgrade to the Stables Suite which was in a separate building over the old stables which are used for storage and as a pump room for the beer in the bar. There was a bit of noise from the outside beer garden and at night the pumps in the stables were a bit noisy. In fairness there was 2 sets of earplugs in the room. . The suite was beautiful,. We had a luxury bathroom, a lounge with TV. Coffee machine, tea making. Extra large bedroom with another TV. The decor is modern eclectic with a medieaval theme. The bar and restaurant were lovely and relaxing. The staff were impeccable, polite, not intrusive but there when you needed anything. The breakfast was delicious and the whole experience was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Not much really

Breakfast was very good. Dinner was a little pricey but of very good quality. There was a good choice, and the specials were changed frequently.

People congregated around the bar, making it difficult to order a drink. In the current Covid situation this seemed unnecessary particularly when there was lots of space in the lounge and dining area.

The hotel was lovely as we're the staff,all very friendly. Decoration inside the hotel was very nice,bedroom just my colour and bed very comfortable. Food in restaurant was delicious,husband had full English this morning I prefer croissants but sadly they weren't available.however I did have eggs benedict without sauce and was done to perfection. Location was excellent for the town,we had a walk round this morning ,plenty of choice of restaurants,delis and coffee shops All in all lovely

No lift in the hotel,my husband does have some mobility issues,I should have asked for a ground floor room.

Such a beautiful hotel so much to look at I could have spent all day looking at the pictures and ornaments. The staff are very courteous, professional and welcoming. Dinner was divine and the bar is relaxing and the background music helps you unwind. The room what can I say it’s the little things I won’t spoil it for you. Very clean throughout always someone cleaning something as you move around the hotel. Breakfast was amazing I could have eaten it twice over if I had had the room. The pool looked clean and very inviting unfortunately we didn’t have time to try it out as check in is at three and we couldn’t get access prior to check in but it in no way spoilt our stay maybe something to look at though to give guests full use of your facilities.

Couldn’t use the pool facilities prior to check in and after check in at 3 it was too close to dinner reservations.

The staff were all very friendly. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and continental selection plentiful. The bedroom had been done up but the bathroom hadn’t. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. There was a big wedding on at the property and it didn’t cause us any disturbance at all which is unusual and great!

The bathroom hadn’t been done up so it was in a bit of contrast to the bedroom. The window in the bathroom didn’t shut so there was a bit of a draft but we were always in a rush so didn’t have time to report it (room 32!)
