Dinner was super delicious!!!!!!! My husband had steak pie and I had belly of pork, both served with veg, potatoes, chips. Perfectly cooked and steaming hot. Breakfast was a good ol English. All very good and great value for money. Efficient and friendly service.

It's an old traditional village pub building, so 5* chrome & glass impeccability isn't possible, but it's maxing out its village charm and modernising as much as possible. Comfortable and clean with squeaky floorboards etc, which just adds to the charm. We loved it but if you want high modernity, it won't appeal. It was busy, which isn't a surprise as it's well worth a visit. We were en route to Scotland and would definitely go there again.

The proprietors very kindly allowed our family to get changed for the races earlier than normal check in time, which was much appreciated. We were recommended a taxi service to use - excellent A lovely large family table was provided for an evening meal after we returned from the races, the meal far exceeded our expectations. We slept extremely well and had a great hot bath in the morning. Breakfast could not be faulted, great service, freshly cooked more than enough.

There was nothing we didn't like, however the outside garden space and the rooms could do with a bit of refurb. However that said we would not hesitate to return.

This is an old country Inn not a Premier Inn and was exactly as I like and expected. The floorboards creaked and the walls not straight which added to its charm. The owner, Chris and all his staff were superb, all helpful with nothing too much trouble. The breakfast and evening meals were fantastic and he does keep a superb pint of bitter one of the best I've had. Overall if you like real country inns you'll love this, if not don't book the Bay Horse.

Nothing that comes to mind or worth bothering about

A traditional country pub that was packed with locals! We only stayed one night as we were in the area for a competition and it was ideal for our needs. We received a warm welcome and were quickly shown to our rooms. The decor is a little tired in some areas but it was really clean. We had an evening meal, traditional pub food but very well presented and very tasty. We ordered breakfast before going to bed and was able to request what time we wanted it, in the morning it was served piping hot and again really tasty! The landlord was very welcoming, giving all the information we needed.

A little dated in areas but absolutely nothing to complain about. The bed was a little hard but I was so tired I slept like a log!

A very pretty building gave a super first impression. The village we were in was lovely, ever so peaceful. The pub was, in the very best way, brilliantly old fashioned, being a real pub (in an old coaching house) with very well kept beers, good food, conversation and not music in the bar and a really nice, clean, tidy and warm room. Very effiecient checking in process, landlord Chris was precise and helpful in explaining everything (on a very short notice, Sunday evening booking). Exceptional value for money & we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Bay Horse to others. Next time we head to Yorkshire, we'll be back too.

Nothing not to like.

lovely little pub, rooms are nice size, clean and comfortable, hairdryer and tea and coffee in room and quiet. The gentleman who I assume is the owner was lovely. The full English breakfast was fantastic! Tasty ingredients, hot food, hot plate, lots of toast, orange juice and good coffee served in a caffè tier.

Would have preferred an earlier check in, latest breakfast was 8:45, would have liked just a little later. The shower was very weak, not a big deal for the one night I stayed but if it were longer, it would have became annoying.

very original and quirky place. Squeaky floorboards and dated decor but this suited the place to give it the character it has. all rooms had essentials required and the beds are very comfy. the staff were absolutely brilliant and helpful, especially Scarlet (waitress). she was very informative, pleasant and interacted superbly with all the customers. such a experienced worker for being so young. the food was one of the best I’ve had, there was 8 of us eating together and it a single complaint for any reason.

didn’t bother me but if you are a light sleeper the squeaky floorboards will keep you up….only if someone else is walking about in their room or in the corridor. asleep the location is a few miles from anything else, this also was no problem as it was chosen for that reason.

This Inn was what an Inn should be like. A small village of some 450 souls quite a few of which came to the Inn whilst we were there demonstrated how valuable the Inn is to the local social scene, The general atmosphere was really great and with all the old but appropriate décor it exceeded our expectations. The food was very very good and with the quality of the Breakfast added to a most enjoyable experience. We will definitely be returning.

Due to the age of the Inn there is nothing that can be done to eliminate the creaking floorboards outside the bedrooms without a lot of effort and funds. Not a detraction to our returning

Booked the Bay horse as a stopover on our way to Scotland.. friendly welcome on entering, shown to our room and facilities explained. Having been a long day we decided to stay in and have a meal and a drink rather than go out. What can I say? The homemade steak pie and fish pie was to die for. Food was piping hot with accompanying vegetables cooked to perfection. Due to the large portions we decided to share a dessert. The ginger pudding was a dream, again a big portion. Nice selection of beers and spirits. The room was spacious Although the building was 350 years old it was clean and tidy. The bed was very comfortable. Excellent value for money.

For a ,350 year old building you would expect the walls not to be plumb and a few creaking floorboards.
