Staff were fantastic, very helpful and always had a smile on their face. Food was wonderful. We are both nights and had breakfast both days and found we had plenty of choice. The beetroot starter was one of the best starters I’ve had!

We were in a upstairs room. It could do with a refresh, it’s looking a bit tired and worn. A bit of a deeper clean would be good; like high cobwebs, curtain needed sewn, inside shower could do with a deep clean. Small things but to me they make a difference. Won’t put us off going back, we had a great weekend.

Plenty of choices on the dinner and breakfast menus.Food nicely prepared and presented by pleasant and quietly attentive staff. Our garden suite room was clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The garden area had a lovely outlook over the valley and was tranquil even when the adjacent restaurant was busy.

Two minor niggles about food service during our stay. Halfway through our four-night stay the continental-style custom of welcoming diners to their tables with a small amount of complimentary bread ceased. Thereafter it became a chargeable menu item. We weren't unduly bothered by this but the change of policy midway through our stay did give us the impression of penny-pinching. The other slightly duff note was that when we sat down for dinner every night, and for one of our breakfasts, the waiter/waitress would first tell us which menu items were unavailable. There was still plenty of choice but this happened more often than it should.

This little pub totally blew me away. I booked as was in area for work at 5 pm on booking .com.was cheaper than premier inns and other hotels. Food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious.I had pie mash and vegetables and was thoroughly amazing food. Sticky toffee pudding was fantastic too. The room was very comfortable, very comfortable mattress and a nespresso machine. Boiling hot power shower and lovely views from my window. Will definitely be coming back and bringing my wife next time.

Everything was bloody brilliant, cannot fault it.

Aside from the one issue, the location, the food and the staff were without exception excellent, extremely dog friendly and very comfortable beds, we highly recommend The Carpenters arms and will certainly return

In our bath room, (room 4), the under floor heating was so hot to the touch and was unbearable to stand on for more than a few seconds, reported this on several occasions and was told that unfortunately it couldn't be rectified, I did check with other guests who didn't have the issue in their bathroom, it is now with the maintenance team to resolve, that is the only reason for a low score as otherwise the accommodation was fabulous.

Breakfast was lovely. The dining room is very attractive with good views. The location is excellent. Felixkirk is very pretty and very peaceful. The rooms form an L shape around a lovely garden with far reaching views. Really lovely

Only personal taste things. The room furniture was pretty standard, though the room is imaginatively designed, with a huge bed, and high sloped ceiling. The facilities are extremely good.

The rooms are spacious with everything you need with a great extra large bed, large shower and bath, lovey living flame fire and large tv. The food (especially the breakfast) is really good quality and nice they like to use locally source. I so love the little bottles of milk in the fridge and does make me smile :-) if the weather is good you have a lovey garden area to sit in while relaxing with your favourite tipple, lots of parking available and free WiFi works well.

Staff were great. Spent the early evening having drinks in the sun in the garden which is lovely with a great view. Nicely decorated through out pub and the Garden room we stayed in. Made our dogs feel very welcome too and so nice that they are allowed into the rooms and a bed and dish provided for them. Breakfast was great.

Evening meal good too but some of the meals were cold so sent back. Such a shame as nice steak but it didn't appear to have been kept warm or perhaps was put onto cold plates. However staff dealt well with it and food was redone for us. We stayed on a Sunday and although the bar was open everyone seemed to disappear at 10pm and just the staff there so felt a little like we should go to bed early. Not the fault of the Carpenters Arms of course but if you want a later night perhaps go on a Friday or Saturday. Rooms were hot and no way of turning down the heating which we've had before here. Seems a waste of energy to open the windows so a thermostat would be a great addition.

The room was incredibly spacious and had everything there and was very clean and fresh. the garden outside is so lovely and I had a lovely view looking out over the Yorkshire hills. The staff was so helpful and even me being a bit late for lunch sorted me out with excellent food on the menu. A little touches so goes a long way !! so loved the mini milk in the fridge for the tea / coffee.

The only thing I would recommend is the tv on a higher stand so I could see it better while in bed, but could not fault a thing else.

I booked a one night stay for my mum's birthday with little knowledge of the pub or the surrounding area. It was fantastic, I would jump at the chance to stay again and will definitely be recommending to friends/family. The staff couldn't have been more friendly (across the board from bar staff to waiters to management to cleaners), going out of their way to help us and make us feel welcome with subtle personal touches that really made a difference to the overall experience. The pub itself looks brand new and feels modern and clean but with the character you look for in a country pub. We sat in the gorgeous grounds for drinks and lunch as the weather was warm and sunny, and had an evening meal in the pub too. Again, service was perfect and the food and drink was delicious and very reasonably priced. Menu is varied and it was clear that the heritage and locality of produce is a big focus for the group. Breakfast was included in the room with lots of choice (continental and hot) and plenty of tea refills. And the room was exactly what we wanted and more. Spacious, lovely views into the garden and beyond, nice big bathroom and powerful shower with lovely products too. Small touches such as robes and nespresso machine in the room meant it felt v luxurious. Our room didn't have a fire but can imagine it'd be lovely to stay in the winter too. Everything was easy. Very peaceful setting and awoke to birdsong. No noise from neighbouring rooms. I can see why it has won so many awards. Will absolutely be returning.

I was disappointed only by the service at dinner which was slow and poor.
