Thatcher’s Hotel

Lovely building with ample car parking space. Set in a small village with a garage and local pub close by. We had dinner in the bar, which was fine. Very spacious room. Lovely and quiet - noticed very little traffic noise. There's an iron in the room, which was handy.

The only drawback for me was the bedding. The pillows were those very inflexible faux ones that don't adjust well and the duvet got very hot. Really comfy mattress though. If I could offer a suggestion, adding a couple of softer pillows on the bed might cater for different tastes rather than 4 of the same kind. My nephew also found his pillows tricky. Otherwise everything was excellent.

Very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast, apart from the one day when it was really sparse. Three mushrooms does not make a portion. But otherwise excellent.

Rooms are a little outdated and probably need a refurb to keep them in line with other major chains. Very clean though. Bring an extension as the only sockets will be the opposite side of the room by the television.

Location ideal for visiting RHS Wisley, Guildford and Surrey Hills. Comfortable room and bed. Welcoming staff if only a small team. Fantastic Restaurant Manager Madalin (sorry if I spelt your name incorrectly). Couldn’t fault his service and attention to detail. Value for money for one night with breakfast included.

Cold shower but OK if you leave the water running first! A bit more cleaning around shower door wouldn’t go amiss but just being picky as overall very clean room and would happily return.

Due to Covid Restrictions and staff on furlough, lots of small issues, slow service particularly when the blue rinse brigade - coach tours / SAGA louts are staying here. Some rooms very tired, maintenance during close down not done. Food in the restaurant is generally good, however if staying for more than one night, very often the soup of the day (and other such courses) are soup of the week / month - they need a touch of the Gordon Ramsey's, or for a fee I can help them.

Only lunch bag for a breakfast option. Tired rooms. No luggage trolley, some rooms are a long way from the main car park and / or reception. A luggage trolley would make a big difference. Menu options on a five night stay somewhat limited, may use village take out / takeaway or travel into Leatherhead for other options.

we had asked for a early check in as we were attending a funeral. This was done in a very professional manner and helpful. We had paid for an upgrade family room to give more space this was amazing Thank you. we ate in our evening meal. being quiet the bar area was being used not the dinning room this was not a problem. my husband had the steak, he said it was one of the best he had for a while. comfy bed no breakfast early get away.

The grounds were 100% idyllic and peaceful. Wonderfully maintained and spacious. Room was cool and had a beautiful view- my friends room was/had neither but he did have a wonderful brand new bathroom with awesome shower. Staff were great, professional and friendly. So quiet and tranquil. Huge tv in room, towels and bathing items provided. Clean and relaxing environment.

Didn't realise we had to book a table at their restaurant. Breakfast was £15 and only contained a few things in my case. Tasted lovely, though. A few billing problems on checking in and out- we kept being billed for things we'd alreadypaidforor hadn't had. Apparently they have a new computer system.

Room was basic but clean and comfortable. Shower was lovely and warm. Tv was a good size but I only watched a little. Room was quiet. No disturbances from other guests.

Breakfast was disappointing. A cheese sandwich which Had pickle on, a piece of fruit, a yoghurt, and some candies. It’s a pity that, as the price reflected what I would expect for a cooked breakfast, there wasn’t some choices for sandwiches. I don’t eat pickles or yoghurt so they weren’t eaten. To their credit when I told them my dislikes the next day I had sandwiches without pickle and an extra piece of fruit instead of yoghurt. I understood that it had to be eaten in my bedroom due to Covid. But would it have been too much trouble to bring a basic egg/bacon buttie out for guests to take a warm breakfast to their room?

Thought this was an excellent, value for money hotel. Would definitely use again for business and possibly leisure.

Have marked down cleanliness simply because the contents of the bin from the previous room occupant were in a bin liner on the shelf in the bathroom. An oversight on the maid's part, but questions whether there has been increased vigilance during the Covid pandemic. Otherwise, room and linen were spotless.

The bed was very comfortable.

Service at the Restaurant in the evening could have been much better. There was a coach tour staying at the Hotel, and even though we had our Starter first, the tour party were on their Dessert when We were served our Main Course. We did get an amount knocked off the bill when we complained at checkout the next day.

Beds are super comfy, lovely staff. We love the garden most.

Overall it could be cleaner, room carpets need to be changed By mistake, they charged me twice, thankfully I checked the bank statement just a day after checking out and had to call the hotel to explain it and asked for the refund. It was refunded in 4 days. The person on the phone was helpful but should have been more apologetic.
