Old Bull Inn0

The rooms were clean with comfy beds. Despite being in a pub, it was really quiet. The food was really nice, and breakfast starting at 7 meant we could eat before we went to work. All the staff were really friendly. They even fetched water out for the dog owners who had fetched their dogs to sit outside. The beer garden is really cosy and set back from the road and has plenty of cover for if it rains.

Not me personally, but I’m guessing some people might complain about the parking being limited, but there is plenty of parking close by. We has a large pickup which I usually have problems parking in most car parks so it wasn’t an issue for us.

I stayed in one of the apartments belonging to the Old Bull Inn - the apartments are in an annex building a few steps away from the main building, but I still had access to all the same perks (breakfast, etc) as any other guest. The apartment was absolutely beautiful - spotlessly clean and well-kept - and the Inn's staff were wonderful from the time of my arrival, carrying my luggage over to the annex and up the single flight of stairs for me (there is no lift, so be warned if that's an issue for you), and seeing that I was comfortably installed. I ate my meals at the Old Bull, and the food and service were both excellent. I had a wonderful stay here, and would happily return.

There was nothing that I didn't like, I very much enjoyed my stay.

The historical building. Would have liked to know more of its history as a coaching Inn. Staff helpful. Room generally comfortable. We were out in the evening so sadly didn't use the hotel bar or restaurant. Situation was excellent.

WiFi very patchy upstairs. Pillows uncomfortable. Decidlely lumpy! No bath plug. Breakfast fine but unimaginative in its range. I (Female) didn't like facing an array of shelved magazines at breakfast (admittedly only Sunday supplements! ) with pouting/posing females on the covers. It looked as if someone had deliberately arranged them so!

Lovely staff, really special building and easy access. Perfectly nice room and facilities. Not a cheap option but very much what I expected and I was very happy with my choice.

I felt I was very lucky to get a space behind the pub as there was only one left – a minor disaster avoided, as Royston is a maze of one-way streets and charged car parks. I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't park up in good time! (I know I'd been told that reserving one wasn't possible.) One other really tiny thing – my poached egg at an otherwise excellent breakfast was very overcooked!

We have just had a lovely break in Royston and the Old Bull's central location was perfect. The staff were all lovely and the food superb, very generous portions. We wanted to come and stay again next month but unfortunately there are no vacancies.

Nothing really. The carpark is quite small but we were lucky to get a spot every day after our trips out.

The Inn was excellent for it's age, both in comfort and amenities. Breakfast was always a good way to start the day and the pub was nice for a late night drink. The room was fairly quiet for being over the pub and beer garden. Only wish we had the chance to try a meal, other than breakfast, downstairs.

Though the claw foot tub was nice, it was difficult to get in and out of and might be a problem for those who can't step that high. The shower curtain made you a little closed in.

Stayed for one night in an apartment that belonged to the Old Bull. This was separate from the actual building but not far. If you are challenged with mobility problems then there is no lift and lots of stairs. The aprtment was clean with comfortable beds and all facilities required. Staff were so friendly especially the gentleman who greeted us and served our breakfast (sorry i didnt catch his name but his brother in law was from :-) ) We ate in the bar and the food was delicious and reasonably priced!! Apart from the stairs I would definitely stay here again!!

Just the stairs but that was only because I am on crutches

Its a v old pub, full of history. The hotel bar and catering are extremely popular and the accommodation is dated , but appropriate to the era it was built. The cooked breakfast was lovely and the staff v welcoming and our 4 poster room was huge and high, with effective heating, except in the bathroom.

The decor is in need of refreshing as the window frames around the hotel are flaking and it’s generally a bit jaded.

Location is excellent. Near super market, near coffee place, near bars and restaurants. I have slept in the softest bed in the world! The building was absolutely gorgeous full of character. A tasty breakfast was included in the price. The apartment i've stayed in was very clean and well equipped. It felt like a home.

That I couldn't sleep more hours on that amazing mattress!!!

The breakfast was very good. Well located for easy access from A10 and for onward journey to A1. The apartment was good value for money, beds comfortable and we had a good night's sleep

We found the hotel parking difficult as we came in two cars and street parking was restricted due to Saturday market. However we were able to find pay and display parking a short distance away. The only downside to the apartment was the sofa bed when made up severely restricted the room and made visits to the bathroom challenging.
