The room and bed were very clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included in the competitive price.

The appearance was let down by fixtures and fittings that were tired and damaged. A little more time and effort in the bathrooms by the cleaners would improve the look there (especially the calcified taps) but otherwise, everything else was lovely and clean. External issues were the road noise (obviously). but also dogs barking at a nearby kennels. There is very little run in from the A1 and no slip road at all to get back out, needing a big gap in traffic.

Artie, the lady on reception when we arrived, was very accommodating. She was friendly and could not do enough for us as a family. Artie took an interest in our stay and took time out to speak to my grandson with regard to his Harry Potter trip. If you arrive and she is working, you will be very well looked after. The breakfast is basic. However, it fulfils requirements, and there is a cafe opposite that welcomes pets and offers food. We had a dog and a puppy with us, and there is an amazing field at the back of the hotel to walk your pets. It is safe to let them off their leads due to the bushes fencing it off, and at the time, there were no animals present. We were well looked after and considering how close it is to Harry Potter studio Watford (40 min). It was well worth the money.

There was nothing we disliked. When the TV remote didn't work, we got a new one to use. There is free WiFi available to use. Therefore, my grandson could watch his films on the tablet without any difficulties, and we could enjoy sleeping in bed whilst he was on the sofa bed. The only thing I would say is I broke my back 2 years ago and the bed was uncomfortable. However, that is no fault of the hotel.

Older motel-like accommodation, friendly staff, very clean & comfortable room. Basic self-serve breakfast of tea/coffee, juice, choice of cereal, toast & jam was more than adequate. I'd requested a quiet room, and it was.. Well back from the main road - it was unbelievably so. Bird song in the morning rather than traffic :-) Hotels are expensive to me, but I'm happy with value. In short I was very pleased with the cleanliness, quiet, the comfortable king-size bed, and the room's spaciousness. The room had a couch too. Btw., the Cafe-style restaurant which shares the same car-park has lounge seating and was convenient for a snack in the evening. Just 4.5 miles from Old Warden Aerodrome - Shuttleworth collection this hotel was just right for my attending their open day / flying display.

Breakfast room was just three x4-seat tables in the foyer, the order / layout of the self-serve counter was awkward, but with patience worked. If it had been busier then 'breakfast facilities' could have been frustrating. The shower in my room was over a bath - which was very round-bottomed, and so a tad unsteady (for an old man) to stand in. A hand rail and a floor mat would have helped. Nothing was 'a problem' though - I feedback only so the owners might realise.

The standout for me were the staff at Redwings. Having travelled from Australia we were given a warm and supportive welcome. There was a lot of lighthearted banter and laughter in the hotel and all up the culture of support and care which the staff gave for free over and above the room service was outstanding. The onsite restaurant was also a great addition and again the staff there were superb. Special shout outs for Anne the manager, Arti and Paul who looked after us so well.

We acknowledge that the hotel is somewhat 'faded' and is in need of more care. That said this hotel is exactly what it advertised and is not claiming to be anything more. For the location with such proximity to London and for the price I would not expect anything more. If it's a flash suite and high-end facilities, you want then this is not the place for you. Ultimately it is the staff that make this place special and that is worth more to us as travelers than a flash bedroom suite and meaningless courtesy gifts. Thank you to all staff who made it such a memorable and enjoyable holiday. See ya all down under!

Location was pleasant, with wild rabbits and outside seating and free carpark with plenty of space available when we stayed. It was clean and room was reasonably spacious. Ensuite bathroom with bath. Basic breakfast of cereals (6 to choose from, to cater for different tastes) and white or wholemeal sliced bread, jams selection, 2 types of juice, tea and instant coffee - all self-service. Cotey's restaurant in grounds, adjacent to hotel was an added bonus, serving cooked breakfasts, snacks, drinks and evening meals - very friendly, bubbly staff there and catered for children.

Not enough plug sockets. Staff appeared a bit sullen. Breakfasting area was in the entrance foyer, with only two tables for four, so had cramped feel and only 2 families could be seated at once.

The hotel, whilst a tad dated is very comfortable and the room rate is spectacular - such value for money, why pay more? I got a very friendly welcome, directions to my room and info about breakfast. My room was clean and the bed very comfortable with a selection of pillows. The heating was individual so the room was soon just as I like it and not too warm. The TV and wi-fi worked very well and there was no noise from other rooms or outside - perfect! There is a large car park shared with Cotey's Restaurant which really is a find. The hotel provides a free continental breakfast in the foyer but Cotey's, just a short walk across the car park is a lovely bright, warm welcoming place where the food is really very reasonably priced and is freshly cooked to order, served piping hot and tastes delicious - superb - Master Chef lives here! Dinner was more than delightful and the menu is different, varied and leaves you spoiled for choice, likewise breakfast. It is open from 8am to 10pm so always ready to welcome diners. The hotel and restaurant are right on the A1 so a perfect location, even if you are traveling in the opposite direction, it's not far to the roundabout to turn round and it's worth it!

The location is next to the busy A1 Dual carriageway South bound lane, however our ground floor room facing the A1 wasn't as noisy as i expected, and we had the windows open. Plenty of car park space and there is a separate restaurant Cotys in the grounds, which was good value. Staff were very friendly and helpful, yes it is a 2 star rating but this near to London at the price we paid, we were happy.

We didnt have the included continental breakfast, which seeing what was on offer, which looked good for what it is, the seating area for it is a bit cramped, so we went to the cafe that is in the hotels car park.

we have stayed here previously for work and will be doing so again in the near future, the price was reasonable and location suited our needs, check in and check out was simple with no fuss.

we stayed in room 17 the sofa bed was somewhat uncomfortable according to my colleague, mine on the other hand was fine. The shower did not work but we had a bath so this was not an issue, however we did not make a complaint as such the staff did not have the opportunity to remedy it so no complaints there.

have stayed several times before pre pandemic and knew we would be warm and comfortable. Staff are all pleasant especially Artie who was there to welcome us when we arrived and was extremely helpful with regard to information and additional requests. Since our last visit 2019 a new restaurant has opened immediately adjacent which is superb and used by us on 2 occasions for eve dinner.

There is nothing to dislike about the property and will always use it when we travel South to visit family and friends.

it was quiet and the staff are lovely. I was able to bring my dog, and that the front doors are locked at night, making me safe and secure.

it needs updating there are cracks in the bathroom tiles and black mould in the bathroom, the window look like they are rooting. the field behind is lovely but there’s a pile of rubbish that should be removed so dogs can run freely without the owners worrying they are going to get hurt.
