The Cricketers Arms

Staff were excellent - very open, welcoming & could not do enough to make our stay comfortable. Room was excellent (other than hot water issue) & breakfast very tasty - especially the sausages....

When we arrived the hotel was struggling with hot water supply, their attitude & willingness to swap rooms & provide an alternative room (in the morning) for a shower was superb, so much so that the problem really did not affect us! If not for the 'shower' issue the rating would have been a straight 10. No doubt if & when we visit the area again we will stay @ the Cricketers Arms without hesitation.

We had breakfast and in all the places we have stopped its the only place where everything in an English breakfast was cooked how it should be. The dinner we had was spot on later in the evening once ordered it came quick and efficiant The room was spotless as the wife always does a "4 in the bed" impression when she walks into a room and thought how clean it was. Andy was the perfect host and gave us loads of advise regarding the area and how to get to Endley End House for the concert we were going to, basiclly he was a genius !! I would highly recommend this pub for a visit and we deffinatley be revisiting in the future.

Our room No. 3 was lovely, this was the 3rd time that we've stayed there and that was certainly the nicest room we've had.

Check-in on arrival - you check in at the bar, when we arrived the bar was busy and it took a long time to be seen to, the girl seemed to be a bit confused, first she told us that our room wasn't ready and that we couldn't leave our bags, the next minute it was ready, the whole procedure seemed very unorganised and time consuming. Breakfast didn't start until 8.00am, we had to leave at 8.00am as my husband had to get to work, so there wasn't time for us to have breakfast. Most hotels we stay in the breakfast normally starts at about 7.00am so it was very disappointing when we realised that there wasn't time to have breakfast before leaving.

Breakfast choice was good and freshly cooked, plenty of parking, staff were very polite, we had a meal in the cricketers on our first night, service menu and quality of food was excellent . There was a portable fan in the room which was great as it was very warm during our stay. Location was good too as we were easily able to get to Duxford air museum,cambridge,and visit friends in braintree

Only one small thing the room could have done with some dusting, otherwise nothing else to complain about, would definitely stay again & recommend to friends

The breakfast was very good with a couple of quirky twists(cricket themed names and bubble & squeak sausages). The room was very quiet especially considering how busy the pub was. Location was great (on the village green) with some nice local walks. Our host , Andy, was fantastic and made us feel very welcome even managing to fit us in for a table at zero notice on 2 busy days. The food was way better than you would expect from a village pub and well deserving of the AA rosette it has received. A big thankyou to all the staff and we will be back.

Everything was great. Andy, Jacob and all the staff were really friendly and funny. Our room was very cozy and comfortable. Cricketers Arms is perfectly located for our dog as surrounded by countryside and walks. Pub is very dog friendly. We had the best fish and chips and everything else in the restaurant was delicious. We did have a small shower dilemma but received a very yummy compensation to make up for it😋 Thanks guys.

Everything was excellent . Cannot speak too highly of Jacob , Kia and Andy all of whom looked after us very well indeed. We enjoyed every moment of our stay . I didn't catch the name of their colleagues but they where equally very welcoming and helpful. Dinner was excellent, accompanied by the outstanding Malbec. Breakfast was first rate and vey well presented. Ambience of the Cricketers is first rate and its clearly the local "go to" in every sense for the village .

great location about 15-20 mins from Stanstead airport in lovely quiet village with lots of lovely walks from the hotel/pub. comfortable clean room with great shower in en-suite. comfortable king size bed. Excellent cooked breakfast included in price. staff very friendly and helpful. nothing too much trouble. we had evening meal in the restaurant which was excellent. you can also leave your car there whilst on holiday in safe car park behind the pub with security cameras. They arrange taxi to take and collect you from airport. Very reasonable price.

The moment we arrived we were met with a very warm welcome from the Landlord and staff as if we were "locals" and felt so at home. The beer (Timothy Taylors - my favourite!) was excellent and went down very well with a superb evening meal. The breakfast options too were imaginative and tasty. Our room included a bedroom with a separate lounge with a settee and plenty if space which was great.

The in-bath shower was our only negative - the flow rate was poor, and to run a bath took forever.

Lovely location on a village green. Very quiet and relaxing. Room was very large, comfortable and airy. We booked at very late notice, half an hour before arrival, having previously checked into the Cross Keys in Saffron Walden, where the room was tiny, hot and very noisy. We felt very fortunate to discover the Cricketers Arms and would definitely stay here again. Breakfast was decent, but we didn't have an evening meal here so cannot comment on that.
