Overall a fabulous stay. Staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The products in the bathroom were full size which is more convenient (and probably wastes less plastic). The breakfast was good but a bit limited for £17 compared to prices outside of the hotel (10 minute walk away). There were almost always taxis in front of the hotel, which was very convenient!

Floors of the changing rooms by the pool weren’t very clean but the rest of the hotel was spotless. We also had a 1pm checkout but the staff tried to come in to clean 3 times between noon and 1pm - just a small miscommunication I think.

Breakfast fab and lady on checkout lovely.

The chap couldn’t find our booking on arrival and then realised we had already been checked in as I had advised the hotel in advance we would be late due to our incoming flight. This wasted time at 4am when we just wanted to get to our bed. He was polite, however. At breakfast I put a pancake into the toaster and was, I felt, aggressively “pounced” on by a member of staff, which gave me fright and made me jump as I thought something bad had happened and then shouted at me for not reading the signs saying not to toast them which I explained I hadn’t seen. Not the way to speak to guests! I actually think this lady was the kitchen manager.

Seeing as there was apparently several events going on in Glasgow when I stayed there all the usual hotels I stay at were already fully booked. With the Crown Plaza being right beside the Hydro Arena, and actually having rooms to book, I took it. It cost more than I usually look to pay, but splitting the cost with a friend made it affordable. And I am really happy I did. This is an exceptional hotel and my nights stay was the best. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. Everything, bar one thing (which I will mention below) was PERFECT. what else is there to say!

I just do not get it when hotels do not have windows that you can open. Yes, the air con worked, but it was noisy and I like to get fresh air in the room. That's it. That's my one gripe! I cannot fault anything else.

We drove to the hotel and there was plenty of parking available and a good rate of £9.50 for 24 hrs. Our room had an exceptional view on the 10th floor, we absolutely loved it and of course it helped that it was a sunny day! We upgraded to a suite as it was a special occasion and the extra space was great. The bed was super comfy and the whole room was spotless. Access to the Executive Lounge on the 15th floor was brilliant and we enjoyed the view from there whilst we had a drink and a bite to eat from the selection offered (included in room price). There were plenty of soft drinks and tea/coffee available throughout the day in the lounge. The staff that we encountered during our stay were all lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was tasty, with plenty of options for us. We were down quite late for breakfast (10.30am) but there was still plenty of food on offer and it was fresh. We'd love to return one day if the room rate is suitable.

The cost of the room I would say was very high. Due to multiple concerts happening that weekend in Glasgow, it was difficult to find a reasonably priced hotel. We decided to fork out the extra since it was a special occasion but I wouldn't normally pay what we did for a room. These two are very minor points as probably to do with personal taste rather than something the hotel is doing wrong. The furniture in the sitting room wasn't particularly comfortable - more aesthetics than comfort but I think that's a personal thing. Coffee machine at breakfast time is pretty poor in terms of coffee quality but again that's perhaps a personal preference.

General cleanliness of hotel much improved since our last couple of visits (post covid) Similarly staff seemed better trained, more polite and friendly than our previous couple of visits (post covid). Overall much improved and we were more comfortable in the hotel having previously started to question if we would continue to use the hotel. Excellent location remains a key factor for booking.

Queues at busier times (check in, post ovo event) seemed excessive - staffing issues? Breakfast seemed a bit chaotic and short staffed - dirty tables in main restaurant area resulting in us having to sit beside bar - too far from buffet - shortage of staff to clear tables? Pre arrival email enquiring about a restaurant reservation remains unanswered. Disappointed kippers no longer available on the breakfast menu. They were a particular treat.

The location was a big factor for choosing the hotel. The breakfast in the morning was a game changer after a gig night out. Also staff were very polite and always helpful.

The hotel itself was very dated, furniture was old and falling apart. The room view wasn’t as expected and that’s what we paid for. The room itself stains on seats, carpets and curtains and the dust in the room was wild. So much dust on drawers, bathroom sink and under furniture. The worst part is definitely the lack of clean air in the rooms and hotel. The air con made a hell of a racket on like a jet engine all night and felt like was just swirling the dust. Sleep wasn’t great and allergies were just going mental and no windows for ventilation. Ended up heating the bathroom to calm them down. Everything creaked at night doors, lift and rooms not great. Told staff in the morning just told High rise building not safe and let cleaning staff know for £200 could have been better.

Been here before staff are really helpful. Nothing too much bother. Room was ok size. Superior king. Nice views. Complimentary items. Fridge. Nice walk along clydeside.

Bathroom in 1611 needs a bit of attention to it. Didn't like the temperature of the breakfast. Went down about 9.20am. Everything I tried was just warm and no more. The haggis was dismal. Nowhere near hot enough. A lot of money for 2 breakfasts. I would score it 4/10 huge disappointment. We stayed here a while back post covid and were served a beautiful breakfast. Still unnerves me about the amount of hands using the same utensils that are lying in with food at some dishes. The only really hot thing was the coffee and toast. The location is not ideal if you want to eat in city centre. Taxis are expensive to get into city. But brilliant if you are going to concerts.

It was fantastic that we received a discounted upgrade for the room which was part of a special birthday celebration. We loved the late check out and the lovely little touches -i.e. chocolates and a nice note for my belated birthday. We really loved the access to the VIP lounge on our floor - it was excellent!

A bit of a challenge that the room key cards did not work on 3 occasions over one day, and also for the lounge one of the times. We had to come all the way down on the lift each time to have them re-programmed and it put a bit of a downer on things to be honest.

The hotel was what we would expect for price we paid . The reception staff were ever so helpful. Pillows on the bed a bit to hard but hey ho everyone is different and I know you can’t accommodate for that. We still slept 😁. Breakfast was great probably the best breakfast I’ve had in a hotel for a long time. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

To be honest the only fault I would have was the car park spaces were too small as I have a van and I had to take up 2 spaces as if I had squeezed into one me and my wife wouldn’t been able to get out and we are not overly large people. I did comment at the reception to another couple who seen me park up and I told them the same and they totally agreed with me but again it wouldn’t put me off staying again

The breakfast was exceptional, the beds were comfy, it was great to have hot chocolate sachets in the room, nice soap/shower gel, spacious room. The water temp in the pool was lovely, and the sauna/steam room very nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and quick at reception for check in and out.

The pillows were lumpy. There were no shower caps which was disappointing, the room temp was a little too cold for me and our milk/coffee/tea was not topped up. There were no 'do not disturb' signs to hang on the door. The pool is very small and dated and the jacuzzi was closed which was disappointing. A coffee machine in the room would be amazing
