Village Hotel Glasgow

I’d travelled to Glasgow for a hospital appointment, the hotel itself is ideally situated en route to where I needed to be not only that but it’s perfectly placed for the city centre, SEC Campus etc. I’ve stayed in several older design Village Hotels, this one is a breath of fresh air, tastefully designed with great accommodation. The food in the grill was excellent, we both enjoyed what we’d ordered. Excellent front of house staff, a real credit to the management of each department I dealt with. I look forward to trying out the swimming pool and gym on my next visit.

I’m really finding it hard to find fault, but there was one minor thing in my room. No glasses in the bathroom to rinse your mouth after brushing your teeth. It was most likely an oversight, apart from that great hotel.

The staff were very friendly and the facilities were great. The hotel was immaculate.

I booked the superior twin room, for myself, my 13 year old and my 9 year old thinking myself and my 9 year old would be fine to share. However, the double beds are small doubles, which I was not aware of, so my daughter and I were a bit crammed. Also, our room was located on the first floor directly above the entrance, and we were woken up several times during the night with other guests who were out smoking and chatting. I was disappointed that there was no fridge in the room

the breakfast was such a let down , we paid £40 for 2 adults 2 kids it was buffet breakfast - there was such little selection and trays always empty we waited around 30 minutes for them to bring more food out and more bread . definitely not worth the money fire alarm went off when In pool and none of the staff knew what to do , they all just stood around looking at each other then 1 minute asking us to leave then the next to stay , when alarm off we asked if it was ok to go back in the pool and the staff responded with Erm I think so - not very reassuring

Unfortunately very busy at breakfast ran out of lots of items in bakery, yogurts, fruit and hot breakfast foods Large queues a bit chaotic Very few waiting staff although more general managerial staff pulled in Did limit our choices and enjoyment of our breakfast Self service tea and coffees good Needed catering chefs / management to monitor breakfast service and customer flow

Very helpful and friendly staff on reception who let me check in slightly earlier. Good size rooms with comfortable beds and good shower. Windows open slightly, which is always a bonus. Good location for visiting the Irn Bru Carnival at SEC. I didn't use the fitness centre personally but my friends used the pool and said it was really good.

A mini-fridge in the room would have been useful. No glasses in the room, only mugs, Bar prices high. I didn't have breakfast after reading the negative reviews, a friend did and he confirmed the breakfast was low quality and cooked food very greasy, at £12.50 poor value when there is a Starbucks on site.

We booked as we were attending an event in the Hydro, and the Village is perfect being only a few minutes walk away. Staff were very friendly and helpful at check in. The room was nice with a good view too.

The room it felt a bit dirty and run down. The shower wasn’t very clean, especially the tray. The tea tray was a bit dirty and there was a previous guest’s chip left behind in it, not a big problem, I just noticed. Nevertheless, the hotel was adequate for our needs and we wouldn’t rule out returning in the future.

The location was perfect for our concert at the hydro. The staff were lovely, very attentive and welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyed breakfast, lots of choice and was tasty! Liked having access to Starbucks within the hotel too.

When I have previously looked at booking this hotel the price was slot cheaper for one night than it was on the night we stayed. I'm assuming this was due to the concert bring held at the Hydro. Can't fault anything else about the hotel. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again.

Quick easy walk to the ovo/hydro which is just across the road. Bed was one of the best beds i’ve ever slept on, so comfy. Loved the pool and jacuzzi and had free access to it since we had a room booked! Room was very clean, absolutely no complaints there. Had no noise bothering us so we had amazing sleeps. Parking was cheap, only £15 for 2 days. Staff were all very lovely. Quick and easy check-in. Starbucks in the hotel which went down a treat. We had some food at the bar and grill which was lovely! We went into the centre and was only a £6 uber from the hotel! So if distance from the centre is something you’re worried about the trip isn’t an expensive one in an uber. Didn’t have to complain about a single thing the 2 days we were there, very happy!

Only slight complaint was that we had a few drinks before going to our concert at the bar and grill, and was somehow £12ish for a vodka orange and a pint. Not sure how that adds up. 😂

staff were so friendly and helpful from start to finish. we used the pool which was clean and tidy. the pub and grill too was clean. food and drinks were good. even busy the hotel feels relaxed. will definitely stay again here and try other village hotels in the future.

I’m a Starbucks fan so it was great having a Starbucks franchise available however staff within here could do with a reminder of customer service…a smile / welcome is a nice start rather than ‘do you have a name for your order’

The room was spacious and the bed was lovely and comfy. The location was good for us, beside the canal, not too far to walk to attractions and the centre. Loved the pool. Breakfast was good. The reception staff were very helpful.

If you are going out in the centre it is probably a little far to keep walking in and out. Breakfast was tasty but I do feel it should be included in the price of the rooms. Reception staff helpful...but I did have to push to ensure I got the room type I booked.
