Green Man by Chef & Brewer Collection

Located in a comfy small town decorated with cute cottages and a peaceful atmosphere. Despite being next to Green Man pub it was very quiet with no noise from the outside or other rooms, even on a busy firday night where the pub is the loudest. The room was immaculate and well maintained with a large soft double bed not too cramped, personally finding it quite comfortable, with a stunning mix of somewhat vintage and modern decor. You can plug USB into TV to watch whatever you bring on it if you don't want to watch cable. Personnel was friendly, helpful and inviting. The lightbulb in the room was not working and the staff were quick in identifying and solving the issue. Every day the room was cleaned, the towels and coffee sugar and chocolate treats replaced daily If you're travelling to London via public transport it can be slightly pricey, however the train and bus stops are no more than 10 minutes away, making travel between the two places not terribly difficult with at least one change required, hence a perfectly feasible location to stay for a holiday around and in London.

There was some small noise of doors opening from the hallway that bled through to the room. The lights were on the dim side which I personally didn't mind however if you're going to be doing makeup you might wish to bring an illuminated makeup mirror. USB plugs on the sockets on one side of the bed were not working and the larger showerhead within the bathroom could do with replacing as some spouts were not working or were angled to pour water at approximately 45 degree angles instead of straight down, however the smaller shower head that can be grabbed was in excellent condition therefore it was not a big issue. There does not seem to be any elevators to upper floors so be mindful of that if booking should you be in a wheelchair or struggle walking.

Nice quiet location with ample parking facilities. The staff were welcoming and friendly, whilst the room was a good size, very clean and well decorated, with tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom had a good size walk-in shower, instant hot water, whilst there were nice soft bath sheets. The breakfast was included in the room rate and there was a wide choice available. Equally, the choice and quality of the food in the restaurant in the evening was very good and despite a large number of diners the service was quick and efficient. Would most definitely stay again when in the area.

A beautifully renovated, traditional, little hotel with a very nice pub and garden on the outskirts of London. The blackout curtain is so super! Excellent location! I tried the bus and the train from here, and I even walked to Harlow town twice, all was perfectly convenient for me. Delicious hot brew coffee bags in the room. Friendly, helpful and kind staff in the hotel and in the pub. Loved the hairdryer in the room, it's a special one.

• Banging doors. • Very hard bed. • Very warm in the room (beginning of May), must be hotter in summer. No AC. • Loud cleaners. It should be an important task for cleaners to be quiet. • A small fridge would be handy.

The bedrooms were very nice. Lovely decor. The lamps gave it a cute quirky vibe. The ground floor rooms we had made it really convenient to bring our stuff in from the car and to go to the restaurant. Our breakfast was included and restaurant was really nice and pleasant with a decent choice of options. They catered for my daughter who needs gluten free pretty well.

My daughters found the lighting a bit dingy for putting on makeup and getting ready. Apparently it was better in my room so they ended up getting ready in mine. Other thing is the beds were quite hard and the pillows could do with being a bit better as quite uncomfortable. Two of us brought our own pillows but my other daughter said the hotel pillows made it hard to get to sleep.

The staff, room and restaurant were great, would definitely come again. Nice choice of drinks in the room, and as coffee drinkers when we'd drank it all, the staff kindly gave us more. Lovely friendly staff in all sections, who were very keen to help and went above and beyond to help us. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and the restaurant and food was very nice.

The hotel, bar and restaurant do not take cash. And when booking we hadn't seen this in the information. The restaurant was very warm, and our waitress told us that as a listed building air con was not allowed, but maybe some fans would be nice to cool us and the staff down!

Lovely, clean room helpful, friendly atmosphere and staff Decor was beautiful. Good quality coffee and teas were a nice touch. The bed was comfy and clean, with good quality furniture in the room.

The room was very dark, the ambient lighting was a bit too much, and felt quite depressing at times. I think it would benefit from the option to have a brighter light if required in the main bedroom, especially as outside the window were huge trees blocking any natural light from coming in. In the bathroom, a brighter light, possibly a daylight bulb, over the sink would have been good, especially for the ladies to help with makeup application or for the men shaving

Friendly, polite and helpful staff. Dog friendly room fantastic. All other rooms well decorated clean and tasteful. Meals in general good and excellent proportions. Excellent tasting and good proportioned evening meals. Tasted fantastic.

Rooms a bit dark for when I needed to see to get ready for a wedding and grandchildren thought the dark was a bit scary. Breakfast was generally excellent apart from the salmon and poached egg meal. The salmon and egg was presented on the toast and made the toast soggy by the time it was served ( would have been better on the side so i could choose to butter or not). Also the egg was hard and should have been runny. It also was very very strong tasting of vinegar which was not a pleasant but was still edible. But generally the breakfast for 8 of us was good

The position of the hotel makes it an ideal stop over before catching a flight from Stansted Airport, without having all the "fuss" of airport life, and being less than 30 minutes away from the airport itself. Good sized car park with security cameras and a well laid out outdoor seating area extremely well furnished. Room was well laid out, comfy bed, and good cooked breakfast. All the staff were extremely polite and helpful.

Two things made my rating only very good. Firstly I was told the Green Man had just undergone a £3 million refurbishment which had been well done except the bedrooms had no air conditioning. My room was very uncomfortably hot, making sleep difficult even with the window open - hay fever sufferers beware. Secondly at dinner, good meal, we were sat adjacent to the entrance to the toilets when all the other tables "for two" remained empty!

Fantastic Room located on the first floor, I did not see any lifts. One of the comfiest beds I have slept on in quite a while, the room was cleaned apart from one day ?? Ensuite bathroom was a real treat with a large walk in shower, sink and toilet, with toiletries supplied for the shower, and hand wash and moisturiser next to the sink. Tea coffee hot chocolate etc provided, Hairdryer Iron and ironing board provided in the room. Also a desk and chair, a open wardrobe with hangers and bedside tables. Breakfast was well cooked ( Full English), and i had a evening meal in the restaurant, and they have certain courses which you can choose from, three courses for £17.99, which were also very good value and well cooked. WI FI i did not use, as i have my own dongle, and the phone signal was very bad in my room, i have voda and EE and i had to go outside to use both. Parking on site with security cameras dotted around, and the accomodation is next to the pub, and very quiet during my stay there. I would go back there again, but the prices fluctuate, so not always affordable in my budget.

While the overall stay at the Green Man was very pleasant, some of the staff were not very well mannered shall we say, but not all only the odd one for some reason, and not just once, but apart from that i would go back again.

The property was clean and the food was good.

its hard to get hold of the reception or the restaurant as there is no direct line. Anytime you call them you to through an automated response machine that takes forever to transfer to the reception. when you are finally transferred to the reception, they do not answer. i had to call them 15 times in order to book a table for the restaurant. the location is good but a bit far away from the main road as there is no bus going there. Water in the shower was not that warm, it was not fixed even after i told receptionist about it.
