The location was excellent and very close to the town and lots of Resturants. Parking was available very close by as the hotel had no parking. Blue badge holders are free. The rooms were well appointed ours opened onto the street which was a little strange, it could do with a frosted screen at the lower half of the window for a little privacy without having to pull the blind down. The room was lovely and a very comfy bed with a first class wet room, which did get a bit flooded. It would be good to have a mop or sqeegy handy to scoop up the excess water. It was beautifully decorated with some nice touches, decanter of water, lovely biscuits, tea, coffee. The staff were excellent very friendly and helpful. We ate at the restaurant and the food was first class. The duck breast was excellent. We could not fault this hotel and would definitely recommend it. Lancaster itself is a very interesting city which we would love to explore more. The castle was well worth visiting, do the tour.

Only window and shower mop. Small details!

Staff are lovely! Bathrooms are super modern, clean and luxurious, I loved the soap products, very bouji. Nice big bath towels included. Breakfast was included, good quality breakkie with lots of choice Room was cosy and the bed was comfy. Excellent view from our room, we could see the castle. Really near to the high street and not too far from the station so location was great. Good value for money

We were right above the function room and the night we stayed there was an event happening which meant we could hear live singing and music very loudly from around 6pm to 10 30pm. If you want absolute peace and quiet I’d reccomend checking whether they have events on/ ask to be roomed somewhere away from the pub function room.

Super location, great staff and fabulous breakfast. Great quality food and tea and coffee in the rooms, and lovely toiletries provided. The rooms we stayed in were new and they felt lovely and plush - we were really impressed. The bathrooms were amazing. I would recommend the Borough and we hope to stay again soon.

The rooms we stayed in were fabulous and very clean. The only thing was it looked they needed a vacuum - there were quite a few bits on the floor BUT this could've just been because they were new carpets. There are two quite bright green spotlights in the room that are only on/noticeable when all the other lights are off -- I'm assuming these are for the fire exit. They were so bright I struggled to get to sleep. I like a dark room so not being able to make the room fully dark, when its pitch black outside, was a little frustrating.

Room was excellent, very comfortable and clean with all facilities we needed, staff member who showed us to room was excellent too, very helpful and approachable. Recommend the rooms.

Restaurant was poor, decor a bit shabby, room smelled of ?disinfectant , customer service very poor, had to go find menus and lift cutlery from nearby table, staff hardly came near us, very poor customer service. When checking in, counter top covered in dirty dishes and glasses. No guidance available in the morning on how to check out as we needed to leave early, room key posted through letterbox as no one answered the phone or doorbell. Big contrast between restaurant and rooms. Highly recommend rooms, but not restaurant. Food was basic and over priced.

The location was excellent, a short walk to the centre and all the shops. The building had character and our room was comfortable and spacious with an excellent walk in shower. The king size bed was comfortable and there was a fan in the room which was necessary because of the hot weather. There was also an ironing board, iron and hairdryer in the room. The walled beer garden was lovely and quiet to sit in and got the sun for most of the day. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

We were in room 4 which entailed walking up a lot of stairs. If you had any sort of Mobil issues this would be a problem. Also, the stone step leading down to the beer garden was crumbling in one area and the painted line to show the edge of the step was faded. My husband tripped down this whilst carrying 2 drinks so this is something the owners need to fix. Also a lady in a wheelchair came from inside onto the patio but couldn’t get down into the garden as there was no ramp. We had to pay £24 for parking over the 2 nights and thought the hotel should perhaps reach an agreement with Lancaster city council to offer a discount or provide parking permits for guests.

I didn't have breakfast, but they were quite happy for me to take a banana for nothing, and cheerfully, as I was having an early lunch. The room had a very nice shower and good towels. It was 'round the back' and therefore nice and quiet. I didn't have dinner as I was meeting folk. While facilities were all clean and with a pleasant room, the best thing was the helpful, welcoming staff. People in Lancaster are generally very friendly. They like you to appreciate their under-appreciated (in my opinion) city. It's very interesting without being spectacular or touristy (like York). Anyway, the university is better. It's still a largely working class town/city with few pretentions.

As I didn't do breakfast or dinner, I can't comment on the food. I suspect it would have been 'hearty'. As with most Lancaster pubs, the beer is always good. The wine by the glass was decent and not over-priced. But there wasn't anything I didn't really like. Maybe the soap dispensers could have operated better. It took some pushing to get it out!

Staff were fabulous, really friendly and helpful and we loved the vibe of the place, quirky and interesting with outstanding food and a great selection of beers and wines. Ideally placed for the centre of Lancaster, walking distance to all attractions. Our room was next door to the bar via a separate entrance and overlooked Dalton Square. It was really comfy and we had a water jug with glasses which was changed daily along with the maid service. The room was well equipped and the bathroom and shower were high quality. The bed was huge and SO comfy, we genuinely slept like logs. This is a city centre hotel, so there is external noise from the street and parking is a pain, but it is so well situated to get out and about and the minute you step back into the hotel it's relaxing. We thought it was high quality and very reasonably priced and we would definately return. All of the Staff we interacted with were fab, really helpful happy and friendly and made the difference to us, we really enjoyed our stay.

The noise from the street is unavoidable so perhaps mention it in your details so folk are prepared and you could mention the parking - it's very expensive to park locally so we found parking out of town.

Room was fantastic! we were give the bridal suite which was more than adequate for our needs ! the breakfast was lovely on our first mornin the Staff were a bit all over the place with certain thing not quite what you expect,i.e. side plate , saucers , but on the second morning and a different member of staff it was fantastic service !

Small things like i tried to get some hot water to make a drink and ws told that the bar was shut and everything was locked up, which i found very disappointing.wheer my room was located it was next door to the hotel, and i discovered there was no way to get into the hotel out of hours, whic i found a bit disturbing in case we needed any thing. out room had 2 Tv's but only 1 remote, so to watch TV we had to lie on the Bed, staff memeber could'nt get it too work either!

The hotel is in a fantastic location at Dalton Square and is within easy walking distance to the shops, pubs, supermarkets, clubs, one university campus as well as Williamson Park. The room (Room 1) was beautifully decorated and had a touch of luxury (underfloor heating in the bathroom, speaker in the bathroom connected to the TV, homemade shortbread) and was really nice to stay in. The breakfast was also great, with one of us having the Borough breakfast and the other opting for bacon & maple American pancakes. We also had a drink at the bar the night before and watched the six nations. Really comfortable and relaxing environment and met some nice people, too. The lad from Kendal who checked us in and showed us to breakfast the next day is a great asset to the business.

The room offered some really fancy coffees and tea but very standard hot chocolate unfortunately. A small mini fridge with a little pot of milk would have been much nicer than the UHT milk and I would have expected some bottled water in the room to be a minimum. There was also a weird, rhythmic vibrating overnight that disrupted my sleep - something would vibrate in the walls for two seconds, pause for six seconds and then repeat. This would happen around 7/8 times before stopping for an hour ish and repeating. Couldn’t work out what it was but very annoying.

great location and a good traditional atmosphere with modern/traditional decor. We had the town house which was a couple of steps away around the corner. it was amazing for our two dogs , easy access and a lovely little private back yard. Modern decor with a lounge area going into a bedroom area and a very large bathroom with underfloor heating and large shower. Sunday dinner was really good and presented nicely. Breakfast was £25 for two people.

the hotel does not have its own parking but we didn’t see this as a problem as there are plenty of parking spaces in several car parks around the hotel. we stayed on Sunday and was told by the hotel that street parking around the hotel is free on Sunday but just move your vehicle to a car park before 8am which we did.
