great location and staff 👍🤗 tip: the coffee next to the reception is 10 times better than the one in the kitchen. big terrace, huge downstairs basement for breakfast area, games, bar and just chilling out on large pillows. bed was surprisingly comfy for how thin the mattress was. bathroom was all right!

the noise! the windows don't shut properly, there's always a gap. so you can very clearly hear the overground train crossing by every 5-10 minutes. it also kinda shakes the whole room when they pass. it does stop during the night for a few hours, but overall I slept poorly because of that. I don't think earplugs will help you too much, it is very loud.

Best hostel I’ve stayed in. I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm and it was a great experience. Newly renovated + clean bathroom in our dorm. Great atmosphere with a large bar and social area.

No air conditioning in the room and it was quite warm at night and not a lot of airflow. We slept with the window open at night. Fine every other time of the year (just not ideal when there’s a heatwave in the UK).

The room had plenty of light and it was very comfy. I loved the common areas in particular. The whole place makes you feel at home

The fact that it's far from downtown and you need to take some transport to get to the heart of the city... Plus the surroundings at night are not so friendly or at least do not feel so busy

The location is close to everything one would need or want to see. The staff are warm, welcoming and accommodating. The quality of the stay exceeds expectations.

Some rooms are too small to accommodate 6 - 8 beds. This makes it difficult to navigate when luggage is out, lockers are full and everyone is attempting to manoeuvre around the room.

Very clean and modern. En suite bathroom with good quality toilet paper (because that is important!) Best facilities of the hostels I've been to. Also free towel too. Decent wifi available throughout. Also has lifts so you don't have to carry the luggage upstairs. I did not have the breakfast but heard it was good quality (but charges more than some other hostels, makes sense if they actually have protein options).

Kitchen is small for the hostel size - not enough room in the fridge, not enough mug cups or glasses. Also wished it had provided free coffee (have to pay unless you pay for breakfast). Also previous reviews say luggage storage is free but it's not anymore - £2 for 2 hours for small luggage/£3for large luggage. This was a major factor that initially influenced my decision to choose the hostel but it was changed without any other notice for people already booked.

The staff is really nice. All are very smiley and seem open to help. The breakfast wasn't great, not many options, and for the same value you probably get a nice breakfast in a coffee elsewhere, apart from that the place was great. Everything works perfectly and you have plenty of places in the hostel to meet people and hang out. The bar in the basement was also great. Installations are good and it gives you a sense of cleanness and safetiness. Everyone in my room was very respectful with others in terms of light and noise and the bed was ok. Maybe this is the little downside. The bed is just right. I mean they're good for sleeping but you can't move much. The location was also good. Very easy to get to several metro stations and enough night buses get very close to the place too. It seems very safe even at night. A bit lonely in the area overnight but it's very safe I would say.

Breakfast could have more options.

The hostel is perfect for a solo traveller. The rooms are cleaned everyday. You get fresh sheets when you arrive. There's a bar downstairs with very friendly bartenders! It feels very secure as all areas have entry with a card. The bathrooms are inside the rooms, clean, big and perfect! There is also laundry and drying available for 3£ each. Hair dryer could be rented with a deposit of 5£cash. Towels were available for free at the reception. It's close from all the main areas of london and the tube is just 8minutes walking! I had a great stay. I extended my stay by 4 days. (7days stay is maximum). There's a locker, usb plus and light next to each bed. I had nice roommates and made some friends. :)

There's no food available at the bar. People at the reception couldve been more welcoming. The hairdryer should be installed within the bathroom.

It was my 5th stay here at the Wombat's and as usual I was not disappointed. The room is clean, the staff is polite and helpful (we were allowed to change room because of very loud neighbors in our first one), the bar serves amazing cocktails and the location is perfect to enjoy London (close to the Aldgate East station, Tower Bridge, Shoreditch, Bricklane, and some good restaurants nearby).

The pillow was really thin and quite uncomfortable. Unfortunately we had to deal with extremely rude and loud people throughout our stay here. Some played music until very late at night (2 or 3 am...). It's obviously not the hostel's fault but it might be something that i take in consideration if I ever have to book here.

The hostel was in a great location. The room was spacious and had good ventilation and lighting. Close to the tower bridge and three underground lines, it's easily accessible at all times of the day and night.

I stayed in a 6-bed dorm, and the only complaint I had was that the beds were a bit too small and were extremely creaky. If the person sleeping above you turned in their sleep it sounded like the bed was about to collpase. Climbing the bunk was also a fun experience as the bed almost tipped. But if you manage to be stealth and can overlook this aspect, it is a hostel that can be a great stay!

The room is clean. The bed is comfortable. There is an ensuite bathroom and shower which are a huge plus. The water from the showerhead is robust and hot. The finish of the bathroom is neat and clean. You are assigned an automatic locker linked to your card key so you don't need your own lock. The layout of the building is very secure and efficient. You need to scan your card key to enter the elevators/stairs area, then scan it again to enter the living quarters, and once again to enter your room. So it is very safe and there is no risk of intrusion or theft. The 24-hour front desk is always manned and the staff are friendly and helpful and speak many languages. In the basement is a lounge that spans almost the whole area of the building in which you can cook, eat, meet people, work, etc. There is also a functional bar where you can have some drinks and talk to people. It is close to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. You can go for a nice walk along the Thames. It is within walking distance from the nearest Underground station, Aldgate East. The neighborhood felt safe.

The breakfast they offer at 4.99 pounds is not bad but lacking for the price. If they had one or two more simple items like scrambled eggs or roast potatoes, I would have paid for it. Compared to neighborhoods like Notting Hill, there are fewer shops and restaurants in Wapping. But there are still some nice places.
