Hyatt Place London City East

The hotel itself was great, the facilities were good, the staff was super helpful, and the room was cleaned and tidied on a daily basis

Location is convenient as is in Central London and near the tube but it generally didn’t feel very safe. I appreciate these may have just been coincidental, but one evening, there was a break in at the Tesco Express nearby. The next evening, similar thing in another bar/shop. You could hear police and ambulances quite often…

The staff were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble for them. They were so friendly and helpful. The location was very good too, with 2 tube stations close by. The room was a good size, very modern.

The heating system! Minimum temperature was 19 degrees and that's too hot for me, especially at night. Maintenance came out but there was little he could do. Also, it was great for 2 nights but there's very little storage space for clothes. There are 3 small shelves, 2 of which I could only just reach They weren't very generous with toiletries either - I had to ask for soap, which in these Covid times isn't very good

Everything was good. Staff were very nice. People here are complaining about the location not being safe but I had no problems walking around both during the day and night. I guess it's because it's the typical muslim area. Not to worry. Importantly, we forgot a wallet with documents and money in the safe, and the staff were very professional in handling the situation; the wallet was sent to our home back in our home country. The Front Office Manager was very very kind in solving this issue.

Breakfast was a bit too crowded, maybe the breakfast area was a bit small for the amount of visitors but it was ok.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. I’d forgotten my toothbrush and after calling reception at midnight they sent one up straight away. The roof terrace on the 9th is also a real gem, when I booked I didn’t even realise it had one but was one of the highlights of the hotel. Great location, rooms were lovely and clean too. Would absolutely stay here again.

Clean, good beds, nice bathroom.

The small fridge in the room was really loud - at 56dB, it‘s significantly louder (and intrusive) than the noise level that is deemed acceptable by British councils (which is 24dB). Our TV didn‘t work and wasn‘t fixed by the hotel although I brought it to the reception‘s attention on the first morning of our stay. I couldn‘t call reception as the in-room phone wasn‘t connected.

The hotel is beautiful. The rooftop bar has an amazing view. The staff are friendly and helpful. A bonus for me was having Starbucks next door and a Tesco 2 doors down. Close to Aldgate East station as well! The TV was really big and the bathroom/shower was nice.

When we checked in we were asked to pay a £200 deposit (£50 a night) which isn’t mentioned on Booking.com or their website. Fortunately this is optional. We stayed for 4 nights and didn’t see housekeeping, so our room wasn’t cleaned which meant we had a big ‘rubbish bin’ build up at the end. The room was really warm. The windows don’t open. The air con/fan didn’t work but still made a lot of noise.

We loved the size of the room. Considering how small the vast majority of reasonably priced hotels in London are, the room in this one was perfect. Easily accommodates two people with suitcases without the room becoming too crammed. The room was also reasonably quiet, facing the alley behind the hotel.

I am going to nitpick here, as none of this was a big deal. At night, there are these small ambient green lights which can't be turned off, probably as part of some security system. They were a little disturbing the first night, got used to them later. Second, the closet could have been at lest slightly larger, as not all our clothes fit in. But again, no biggie, esp. considering the room was more spacious thanks to that.

Brilliant location, only a 3-5min walk from Aldgate East (Zone 1) tube station and well serviced bus stops. Got a Tesco and Starbucks right below too. The room was clean, bright and airy and the staff were wonderful! Felt extremely safe as a solo female traveler too.

The damage deposit of 50GBP is per night rather than a total amount (which is what I had expected); didn't bother me because they refund it upon checkout but worth keeping in mind. Also, checkout time on Sunday was PACKED so worth adjusting travels out of London since check-out might take longer than expected - I waited about 45 mins to be seen.

Awful smell of drains coming into the hotel whilst sat in the reception . And at breakfast a certain young female staff member lurking over you whilst eating to reclaim an empty glass, no manners.

I've stayed here a number of times and I keep coming back for a reason... I love this place! The staff are just so good - so pleasant, helpful and friendly. They have always made the extra effort every time, it really makes a difference. And I just feel so comfortable every time I stay here. The restaurant and bar are great as well. I love the beds, and the TV is good for casting your own content to. I love the location because Brick Lane and Whitechapel are like a second home to me, so staying here is very convenient when I'm in London for work. Thank you Hyatt and all the team at Hyatt Place for another great stay :)

The mini fridges in the rooms are a bit weak and don't really keep things cold. I appreciate very much having the fridge, would just be nice if it worked better!
