Brackenborough Hotel

Everything aside from the service in the restaurant was fantastic. Wonderful surroundings, delicious food, friendly reception staff, clean rooms, live music etc.

Poor service in the restaurant while staff stood around behind the bar looking at something on one of their phones. 15 minute wait for a drink to come over which I eventually just had to ask for, espresso brought out followed by another 15 minute wait for dessert. Girl audibly saying "she wants another espresso - you can do it" to another member of staff. I worked at a wedding the following day who also said they were going to get married here and didn't because of the slow restaurant service so it seems this is not a one off.

Set in a quiet rural location, with well-appointed rooms (we had a ‘luxury double’) Very good restaurant, well-cooked evening meals and breakfast (full English, or other cooked alternatives, plus a wide selection of cereals, croissants, and juices). Large onsite car park, smooth check-in, aided by using the pre-check in system online. Broad selection of draft beers and decent wine menu. A special mention to the carefully curated music playlists, both in the evening and at breakfast, which complement the relaxed, yet discerning, vibe superbly; nice work! The Brackenborough’s real ace-in-the-hole, though, is their superb team of people. From reception to bar, restaurant and cleaners, everyone you meet is warm and welcoming, and go above and beyond to give you the best experience during your stay; absolutely outstanding service!

Our room had a fancy whirlpool bath, with shower over. Consequentially, the shower is not as good as a separate one, and you have to step over the bath to get in. Pillows were very thick and a bit lumpy, but had I checked beforehand and flagged to reception, I’m sure they would have replaced them. The outside seating area could be better organised (there is plenty of room to expand the seating area into something really special) The smoking area is not very welcoming, and once again, a fairly easy fix.

Members of staff were friendly and helpful, The restaurant was nicely decorated and the food exceeded our expectation - the buffet part of the breakfast was well stocked with a variety of cereals, pastries, juice etc and the hot breakfast was freshly cooked and enough to keep you going for a morning's exploration of the area. Suppers were very good, imaginative and with a good choice and again, freshly cooked. There was a range of tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits, in the room which were replenished each day. Bath/shower were good with plenty of hot water.

The room was very clean and spacious but was a little tired and basic. The bathroom likewise was very tired and with a cracked toilet pan - though, again, was spotlessly clean. The toiletries consisted of shampoo and conditioner, no hand wash or shower gel and when we asked about shower gel at reception we simply got more shampoo, though they did bring a couple of small hand soaps. We went into Louth and bought a shower gel from the chemist.

The food was excellent, no complaints at all, the staff was friendly, chatty and always had a smile, the atmosphere of the restaurant was quite relaxed and cosy feel, we ordered breakfast to the room in the morning as we wanted a cheeky lie in, and it was fantastic ordered two full English, coffee and fresh orange juice, and left us full for the day, the room was very clean, a good size with a comfy bed, the hotel is in a quiet location just outside of Louth centre, we would definitely go back and recommend.

The only negative me and my husband had was the shower ran hot and cold slightly, and the room was plain and basic, but we did order a standard room,

I stayed here for work & I had a free upgrade to a luxury double room due to my genius level. The room is very spacious, great décor and great bed. The Bathroom has a TV in the wall, spotlights & Jacuzzi. The lady at Reception was friendly, explained where my room was located and the closing time of the restaurant. On this visit I was unable to take advantage of the many facilities available here.. on my next visit I will be arriving a bit earlier to spend more time time there. It is located three minutes away from the Fairfield Industrial Estate.

The WIFI was a bit slow in the evening, possibly due to high usage. However, in the morning I used it perfectly fine.

Breakfast service and food was excellent. Especially the cooked items. Tracey was on restaurant duty both mornings, and her guest service was exceptional; everything we ordered was just right! Perfect.

The steak was delicious for dinner, however the accompanying red wine and beef jus sauce tasted unpleasant, bitter and burnt; when taken away by the server, I did suggest that the kitchen might like to try it before serving to another diner and anticipated that we might get some feedback, but we didn't.

EXCELLENT STAFF - VERY ACCOMMODATING. - FOOD WAS LOVELY - PARKING WAS EXCELLENT - OUR ROOM WAS VERY NICE AND BED VERY COMFORTABLE. BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT AS WAS DINNER. HAPPY ATMOSPHERE IN RESTAURANT WITH VERY NICE STAFF. NOTHING TOO MUCH TROUBLE

Would have liked a small fridge in the room as room was plenty big enough- the spiders and flies in room and bathroom. Also killed two moths near wardrobe area. A large drawer unit would have been nice to store belongings

The staff were extremely helpful. Loved how the hotel had been decorated in readiness for Christmas, made it look magical. The breakfast was great, many choices..I had the full english which was delicious and friend had eggs benedict. The communication with the hotel was quick and informative. Beds comfortable, blackout curtains, tea/coffee facilities, bottled water, several power points. Thermostatic shower/bath. Shower gel and shampoo supplied. Within 30 mins from Donna Nook seal sanctuary. Shame we only stayed one night.

The only thing I could fault was that we could hear everyone's toilets flush from inside room, tho didn't keep us up.

The situation was perfect - quiet but near enough by car to the town and the grounds beautiful. The staff extremely helpful. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious, extensive choice and always cooked to order and hot. We didn't sample the dinner but the food definitely sounded and looked very good. Overall a very enjoyable comfortable stay and you won't go wrong with a stay here and would definitely stay here again if/when we are in the area.

There wasn't really anything to dislike.

Firstly, the friendliness of the staff was excellent. The young waitress who served us during the afternoon tea booking was great. The standard of all the meals including afternoon tea, an evening meal and both breakfasts was exceptional. The hotel restaurant and the bedroom were attractively decorated and interesting. Being a dog friendly hotel was also good for us.

Nothing really. I did notice some dust on some of the decorative items in the window ledge in the bar/restaurant.
