St James Hotel

It was in the town center with lots of shops nearby and a shopping center. From my window I had a view of a church. The room was big,clean and had the essentials for a 1 night in. Hairdryer , toiletries and coffee making facilities. Reception was really friendly. There is a restaurante and bar. I would recommend this hotel. We booked without breakfast, but when we checked in, the lovely receptionist offered us a voucher for a £3 discount on the full English breakfast in case we changed our minds. Next morning we went down for the breakfast and it was really good, nice hot food and it was worth. Full English was great. Easy check in and out.

I just thought the TV (19") I believe could be bigger.

good location and some rooms had been refurbished. I also appreciated they still use real keys for the room, which avoids the usual ‘can you reactivate my key card please’ great parking as well and breakfast available from 6.00 am which helped, I ate every evening in the hotel and the food was excellent and great value.

first night, I asked to be moved due to a really noisy AC/Generator?, apparently this had been going on for some time and had been reported, so not sure why the affected rooms were being used at all. sometimes the staff were somewhat ‘Direct’ in their approach , other than that nothing major

It was a lovely hotel ,rooms were good size had everything you needed . Nice to have use of a kettle and free coffee,tea and milk in room . Lovey good steel deep bath with shower above and gushing running hot and cold water. Clean towels changed when you needed Best ever.Tv with remote and a lovely view out of window looking at Grimsby Minster. Was so close to Town and was easy to walk to shops and pubs! Good parking spaces around hotel and had a electric barrier opened automatic on arriving , used a token to open when leaving given you by reception . So all good .The breakfast was outstanding ,just helped yourself to lots of food yum yum. Was a nice electric toaster and plenty was juice fruit and even yogurt to choose from. Only booked 1 night stay but was so nice we booked another 2 nights. Will be staying there everytime we go back to visit family. Like home from home.

Maybe windows needed up-grading to PVC from aluminium making easier to open. Also bath could do with a new enamel coating. But nothing too serious. Price was excellent so can't complain.

Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Car park was brilliant. Wifi was very very good and extended to the hotel bar (Pepy's) on the corner. The room was fine for my needs, A bonus for me was the bath as I was on a walking holiday. Yes the decor needs a refresh but everything was fine for my needs.

Pepys bar was not air conditioned. No idea why there is an integrated hair dryer in the room. Doesn't look like it has been used in 20 years and in it's current appearance I doubt anyone would want to use it. I imagine it is on some ratings tick list somewhere.

The location was good with a great view of the minster and was situated close to bars, shops and restaurants. The staff, for the most part, were great! There's always one! The cooked breakfast was really nice. The bedroom was clean and big enough for me and my son. Will definitely stay there again.

The only bad thing I can think of is there was a male member of staff one morning who seemed to be very short with everyone who came down for breakfast but the rest of the staff were great all weekend and eager to help.

Undercover parking was available for motorcycles which was great, room was as we expected with a view of Grimsby Minster, room was clean and beds were comfortable, hotel bar was extremely reasonable prices, location was perfect if you are after easy access to the town centre and the choice and quality at breakfast was good, with hot and cold buffet style.

As i have found with most hotels, the rooms were on the warm side even though the radiator was off - there was a fan provided however.

My Partner works at a Best Weston hotel as head house keeper and was impressed with the cleanliness she has this thing were she checks every where we stay, Yes the room was dated but clean staff were friendly and informative the location was excellent, The breakfast was fantastic we were just looking for a break away and will defiantly be back

The room was dated but still comfortable and clean its the only thing I could comment on that wasn't perfect

Room was large, clean and comfortable. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful especially cleaning staff. The hotel had its own restaurant and was right in town so other restaurants and pubs could be visited. Recommend a trip to the Grimsby Fish Museum and trawler exhibition well worth a visit.

The hotel was looking a bit tired and could do with refurbish, but still clean and tidy.

The location of the Hotel was perfect for exploring Grimsby and visiting Cleethorpes. The room was comfortable, and the staff were very helpful. We asked for a taxi to visit Cleethorpes and reception were quick to arrange this. Breakfast was ample and it was hot although the fruit juice had run out it was quickly replenished on request. I would recommend the St James's.

If anything I thought it slightly over priced at £ 122 for two people with breakfast for a one night stay !

The hotel was ok we had everything we needed and the staff were all friendly and helpful especially the young man in the breakfast room who was really busy getting everyone seated and cleaning tables but was really cheerful 😊

It was really noisy through the night with people shouting and arguing outside the hotel so I had to shut the window even though it was boiling hot so I didn't get much sleep 😑
