Holiday Inn Newcastle Gosforth Park, an IHG Hotel

The staff were very welcoming as we arrived. We stayed here for the great north run and they accommodated us as much as possible. Arranged taxis in to town, had a notice board and a member of staff in reception giving help and advise to anybody needing it, offered showers after the run even for those not staying over. We couldn't have asked for more.

The only thing I'd say is that breakfast was quite expensive. (£13.95 If I remember rightly) and if you only want continental then it's alot to pay. I simply wanted a bowl of porridge and it was the most expensive bowl of porridge I've ever purchased! Other breakfast options should be available.

Reception staff were pleasant and helpful Our 2 rooms were, as requested close together, and nicely furnished with sparkling bathroom suites. We needed to eat in a hurry as we were going out to a party, and so ordered a selection of items to share - pizza, club sandwiches, fries, onion rings and nachos. There were brought to table within 15 minutes, with sharing plates. Food was delicious. Beds were comfortable although one family room was next door to another family with young children who seemed to cry all night so one couple had a disturbed night. Pool was an added bonus allowing us a quick swim in the morning

Breakfast ended at 10.30 - we were informed of this in the welcome letter, but didnt read it properly so didnt realise, and we missed it. This was our fault. However, as checkout was 11 am, and there was still food on the buffet when we arrived at 10.45, it would have been great if we could have been accommodated with a bacon butty or something. Tea and coffee was available from the bar, but not really anything to go with it. Maybe offer croissants or pastries? Or a later checkout / breakfast at weekends.

The room was quite nice and comfortable, everywhere was clean, the bathroom decor was very nice and had soaps etc. The breakfast was very good and the woman on duty there to welcome us into the dining area was excellent. The pool and spa facilities were quite nice.

The pool was a little short as the shallow section was quite long so swimming was a bit limited. The bed was a little too firm and had a ridge at the bottom which made it slightly uncomfortable. It was quite a distance from the city centre but that can't be helped. It was a little pricier than similar hotels, despite the location.

The breakfast buffet was good but although we were down reasonably early, some items were no longer available. If would have been helpful to have had some guidance there on how to use the toasters. The gym was kitted out better than I had expected with a good selection of equipment. The pool liked lovely but as our visit was last minute we didn't have our swimwear to try it out. We did miss the turn off to the hotel as our sat navigation took us on another road and we didn't see the sign at the roundabout- could be improved.

The biggest issue I had was with the pillows which I found to be far too hard. A £50 credit card payment was taken at checking. We were told this would not go through unless we incurred charges. Having checked our bank transactions tonight it appears we have been charged. I will now need to double check this with my credit card company.

Very clean hotel. Housekeeping team is doing great same as maintenance. Reception ok. Grill around jacuzzi would do with cleaning and sauna seat needs fixing. Spa thearpist Jasmine has very strong hands for deep tissue massage. It was great. Breakfast ok. Staff chatted to my child about his toys while me and my partner where filling all our plates. Very nice touch. Bar attendant (short boy) in the evening made me feel unwelcome due to mixing children menu with limited menu. Not serving our drinks and jumping to the other customers instead, being very proffesional with them and ignoring me even when I was standing there staring at him. The other man, tall chaty man in the bar helped this situation appologising for his co-workers mistakes and behaviour, very professional gentleman. Ladies serving food was nice and welcoming.

Good in general, just that staff member at the bar made me feel unwelcome.

We have visited this Holiday Inn on numerous occasions and know that whenever we stay there we come home feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The breakfasts are excellent with a great range of items.

The only negative about our stay was that we were asked to add an extra £50 deposit on top of what we paid just in case we had any added extras. We got this back and just paid the usual cost of the room, but would have appreciated being told about this new feature before we booked as this has never happened before when we have stayed there.

I suffer from dust allergies so hotel rooms with aircon always cause me problems. This entire hotel and especially the bedroom was spotless. Not a single speck of dust on the aircon unit or anywhere in the room. All the spa facilities worked , the sauna and steam was super hot and again no mould which is hard to maintain in an indoor pool area. Big choice for breakfast which was good quality and even had vegan options for my wife. NO problem here if you have any food allergies. Staff were excellent. This is the best holiday inn we have ever stayed in.

Nothing, from reception onwards this room was excellent.

From the warm Northumberland welcome to the friendly farewell the staff were all lovely. A friendly, polite, corteous and extremely helpful team - there is much this team could teach others.

The cost. The hotel accomodation charges were considerably higher for this weekend than others. There were two pop concerts on nearby and all the other hotels we costed were also very expensive. If I didn't have a business commitment on the Saturday we would have selected a different weekend to stay.

Our room was quite spacious, beautifully clean with extra pieces of furniture I maybe didnt expect, eg bureau with office chair, armchair. Bathroom was modern and bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet style which is perfect for people with a good appetite. There was a spa, gym and pool available for useand the location was just off a main route but far enough to have no background traffic noise. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Couldn't have wished for a better stay. Would definitely recommend and would have no hesitation using again.

I found nothing to dislike.

Our overall experience exceeded our expectations. Staff we met were all very respectful, friendly and helpful. The whole hotel was clean and we were very happy with our room. We were encouraged to report any issues and were confident anything possible would be done to put things right, if needed. My wife & I look forward to returning for another stay.

EV parking is being exploited / misused by some non-electric vehicle owners. Despite ample sinage it seems like this is not being monitored or enforced so expect it to be a continuous issue until resolved.
