Beautiful location my partner & had had stayed at a different hotel the previous night but wanted to exatend our stay so found this hotel for £175 I believe which was more then we wanted to spend but we couldn’t complain the gentleman who checked us in offered us a upgrade in the annex it was charming.. breakfast was great too

No bath.. the previous room I had chosen had a Bath & the gentleman kindly upgraded us to the annex & I didn’t have the heart to say I wanted a bath because of his kindness

The property is an older building but well maintained and the decor ecstatically pleasing. The room is an average size with an en-suite bathroom and shower, perfectly adequate for a couple visiting the area. An Ideal location for the town with local amenities and the beautiful cathedral just on the doors step.

If I have to make any constructive criticisms it would be that the tv remote turned the tv on but nothing else. This wasn’t a problem for me to just use the controls on the tv but may be an issue for others. Breakfast was lovely too.

The location is perfect. Close to the Cathedral and all the places of interest but in a quiet street. The atmosphere is one of calm and comfort. The staff are helpful and charming, and so were the other guests! Very much a homely atmosphere. The breakfasts were delicious and there were plenty of choices. Plenty of parking spaces behind the house.

When we visited the street outside was being dug up in order to lay cables so Wi Fi was a problem. However, this was not the fault of the hotel and the staff were trying to rectify the situation. There is a narrow entrance to the parking area, difficult if you have a large car. These things did not detract from the overall pleasure of the visit.

Breakfast was very nice. Room had lots of character and it was reasonably quiet.

The duvet was slightly too thick and it was quite warm in the night. There didn't seem to be any alternative sheet provided to use with the duvet. Whilst there is a small bar area it didn't seem to be being used. There was a bell to ring for service if you wanted something at the bar but the bar area had no ambience, no soft music etc.. and the other residents didn't realize it was open. We were encouraged on booking to go to the pub on the corner which made think as to why have the bar if they didn't want people to use it?

A really beautiful small Hotel ideally located for exploring the lovely town of Bury St Edmunds. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and we were made to feel as if nothing would have been too much trouble for them, the service felt very personalised. The rooms were exceptionally clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing and there were so many different options to choose from.

The entrance to the Car Park was quite tight.

Breakfast was well presented, service was outstanding, food quality was superb, professional table service, all excellent!! Room was very comfortable, everything I needed was provided and very clean. Location was great, close to the town centre, car parking at the hotel. Very professional and helpful staff.

Narrow spiral stairs leading to my room on the second floor. However the hotel staff helped with my case, taking it to my room.

Located in the centre of town plus you're provided a private parking space off road, a real benefit as a residents only restrictions are in place in all the surrounding roads. Breakfast was excellent offering a good choice on menu, with the full english being freshly cooked and brought piping hot to your table. Abbeygate offers a good range shops and restaurants with the occasional outdoor market days. Literally around the corner from the hotel, make sure you visit St Mary's Church, with its beautiful stained glass windows and very long nave.

Rooms are adequate, with ensuite. If you're used to a king sized bed you'll need to request, as the room only had a smaller double bed. Hotel is situated very close to the Greene King brewery, so be aware there could be a slight smell of hops in the air, but not too unpleasant.

Bed was very comfortable. Shower was lovely and hot. Plenty of wardrobe space. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were all lovely and welcoming. In a great location and very safe when walking back late.

The only thing was that the bathroom was a little tired looking but not enough to put us off going again. When we got there the room was cold but they explained that was because they had had all the windows open to air everywhere. It was fine later in the evening.

Nice welcome from the proprietor, with offer of tea and biscuits on arrival. Dedicated parking at back of hotel was excellent. Breakfast was excellent and well presented. Room was comfortable and clean.

The room was up a very steep and narrow staircase. We did not have warning of this, which could be a problem for some guests. Bedside lighting was inadequate. Why do so many hotels not provide good reading lights?? Room a little on the small side for the money, but very comfortable.

Excellent breakfast, and all requests immediately fulfilled. Parking easy, and the ambiance was lovely, We had a smaller room than last year, but it was still very comfortable and unique. Location wonderful- almost right next to the Abbey Gardens and within minutes of impressve sites, good cafes and restaurants and interesting little lanes full of fascinating buildings and small independent shops that have vanished almost everywhere else.

Can't think of anything.
