A lovely, quaint little hotel with exceptional staff who were very friendly and helpful (there was nothing they couldn’t do)! The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed (I slept 12 hours every night, missing 4 out of 7 breakfasts)! The breakfasts I did have were delicious and served by a very friendly and helpful young lady who made the mornings very pleasurable (I am not a morning person)! I was very pleased they provided a public car charger, at £10 per charge it was a little on the expensive side, but even big chain hotels haven’t started providing chargers for guests so this was wonderful to see! I would definitely stay here again as it has become one of my favourite places to stay!

It took a long time for the hot water to run and when it did the pressure was terrible, which made the shower quite a disappointing experience. The breakfast menu could do with a bit more variety, they had the usual cereals and toast bar (it was good to be able to make our own toast) but there were only three breakfast items on the cooked breakfast menu, the rest were various food items on toast, it would have been good to see Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine and poached salmon on there.

1st breakfast a bit luke warm, 2nd was perfect! The actual building, room and garden was lovely. Just loved the feeling of home from home, you was made aware at an early stage that to use the facilities ( kitchen, fridge, washing machine, crockery etc ) as your own. Definitely will be back.

Bit of confusion on if we’d paid or not when we were leaving, staff member had to run after us in the car park to verify that we had indeed paid on arrival. First breakfast was of good quality but luke warm, 2nd made up for it.

The quirkyness. Friendly welcome, informal atmosphere. A large room (called a junior suite) with a separate sitting area. (But beware of the low beams in this mediaeval/Tudor hotel.) Good location, walkable to the town centre in a few minutes.

When the windows were opened (with some difficulty) the road noise was quite high in the rooms at the front of the hotel. But the road can't be moved! A fan was provided for cooling but we do prefer fresh air.

Having a lounge area in our room with comfty chairs, together with a fridge, was great. We had intended to use the garden area as well, but we just never seemed to have the time!

The wooden beam at a height of 5ft, across our room, was an accident waiting to happen. (Thankfully it didn't in the 2 nights we spent there.) I know it was necessary to have it there, as it is part of the building, but it is a danger. That said, we would choose our room again, when we book again.

The location and the staff were very friendly and very keen on sharing. I’ll give an advice on what is in the locality score to the rams. I was allowed to use the fire exit stairs as it was easier to get up and down the stairs with the bags.

Parking was terrible. You had to drive straight in from driving across the road. It was very hard to turn into and find a car parking space this off my wife slightly I rate and stressed when turning into the parking area.

The service was fantastic! They upgraded our room as it was my birthday, the receptionist was incredibly accommodating and friendly and made us feel at home from the second we walked in. She allowed us to even check in an hour early! Breakfast was lovely and there was so many options to choose from. The room was wonderfully clean and comfortable. The location was also great, within 15 min walk to the centre of town. For the fantastic service, and upgraded room as well as breakfast, the price we paid was really good.

The decor in the room was a little outdated, however I think this is the style they are going for, and it was very sweet and quaint all the same. The shower is the only thing I would say needs to be upgraded! But it was all very clean.

Nice and clean room at the back of the hotel. Although as it is situated in town, the noise from the traffic is still a bit present so it's difficult to open the windows at night if you're sensitive to the noise. Lovely breakfast. The bathroom is small with a little shower but it's nice and clean with a good water pressure.

The weather was very hot and the duvet is way too warm to be able to sleep correctly. I would have appreciated to have a thin sheet to swap with the duvet. The temperature inside was very hot and it would have been nice to have an air conditioner. There's a fan in the room but I couldn't sleep with the noise of it and I've had to open the windows before going to bed. Not really the hotel's fault though as I've stayed there during probably the hottest day of the year. On more normal days, everything must be fine I'm sure. Also when I've checked in, the lady told me that she'd save me a spot in the car park as I was planning to come back very late but the spot was busy when I came back. Thankfully there was just one spot left elsewhere so I've managed to park there.

Nice friendly welcome. Cosy room. Didn't take the breakfast but good to have available. Good location, comfy bed. Decent power shower. Decent WiFi. Charming old building. Quiet surroundings during the night. Lovely outdoor seating area. Fan in the room which was really appreciated with how hot the room can get when it's 30+ outside. Had a great sleep overall.

It was a little grubby in places, fridge wasn't fully cleaned, other guests rubbish still left on the right side of the bed between the bed and side unit (biscuit packet and WiFi password slip). Few hairs on the bed that weren't mine, likely cleaners but just a few minor things that could be watched out for.

We loved everything! The place is beautiful. We stayed in Rms 15 and 16 which are "Own access" apartments. It was a perfect place for my son to get ready for his wedding on Saturday, 14/5/22. The staff was always extremely helpful and so very friendly! We had a late check-in and it was no big deal for them! They were very accomodating. In addition, they had irons and an ironing board for us to borrow to press suits that saw a lot of travel in a week. During the week, we had 3 horrible experiences with Vrbo and AirBnb and only ended up at The Abbey because of our "stranded traveler" status with Vrbo (no access given to our original accommodations made through Vrbo.) But that snafu ended up being a blessing in disguise as we would never have found The Abbey hotel!

Nothing - we loved EVERYTHING!

Very friendly welcome to this very quirky hotel. Our room was enormous with a well maintained kitchen / dining area. Shower was ideal. The bed was very comfortable. We had to wait to sit for breakfast due to all the tables being occupied, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had coffee and ordered whilst we waited. Lovely breakfast. Although the hotel is on one of the towns main roads we did not notice any noise.

The bathroom had a little fluff under the wicker chair and there was a fair bit of staining on the skirting board near the toilet. Beware of our upstairs room as the stairs are steep and narrow. No bar although we would not have had time to use it. The car park is small and tight,
