Lonsdale Guest House

I think for the price paid it was a lovely stay really. The room was nice and clean, we had everything we needed: towels, toiletries, hairdryer. There was even a microwave in the corridor, which we prayed on as we picked up pizza on the way to the guesthouse and it was already cold when we arrived. So, having a microwave to heat it up was a blessing! Breakfast was continental but we were also offered eggs of our choice, so I guess depends on how full you prefer to be in the morning but I had enough of food to kick the day. Staff is lovely and helpful as well.

We had no issues whatsoever.

The welcome greeting was very friendly and helpful. They left a fan in the room which was brilliant in the heatwave. We were left alone as I think they owned at least 2 guesthouses so had our own front door key as well as room key. The continental breakfast included was served next door by very friendly staff. Great fresh coffee. Location was great - a 20 minute walk into the heart of Oxford and lots of shops on the way - an amazing coffee shop across the road and handy tesco, Sainsbury's and M&S too. Very close to local restaurants so could have a drink and walk back.

We stayed 2 nights and no room service, beds remade, cleaned, bins emptied or coffee/toiletries topped up the next day which I've never come across before?

The owner was extremely friendly, managed to park the car in front of the house and allowed us to leave the car all day while visiting Oxford. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was really comfortable. My parents room was much smaller but adequate for a night. Breakfast is in the BB next door, it is continental only with a choice of eggs. The area is full of restaurants and only a short bus drive to Oxford city center. Will definitely be back next time we visit.

The best value for money we had on our whole trip to the UK. Location further from Oxford than you might want but the bus stop is right on your doorstep. The room was large with an extra couch and a private bathroom. All the normal ammenities was provided with the added bonus of hot chocolate with the normal coffee and tee. The breakfast is basic in that it only provides eggs fried, boiled or pouched with toast, cereals and croissants with jam but far better than most "included" breakfasts. Really a very pleasant stay!

Only that it's just further than walking distance from Oxford.

Great value for money and location. It was a quick bus ride into town and the bus stop was very close by. The staff were wonderful and helpful, allowing us to drop our bags early and helping us with carrying them. It was a bonus to have a simple but good breakfast thrown into the price - eggs of choice and then cereals and toast with a large selection of toppings. We would definitely book here again.

Can’t think of anything.

We stayed to attend an event at St Hugh's college and the room was handily placed for that. The room was nice and big, the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space to put away our luggage. In the bathroom the water was warm and the shower worked well.

My only suggestion would be to have the curtains lined with blackout, as there are nice big windows but given it was the summer, it was light very early making it hard to sleep.

This is the second time I stayed there this year. In February we booked two rooms, this time it was three rooms. The lady and gentleman serving breakfast are friendly, kind and helpful. Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

A bit more top up milk and teas if one is staying more than one night. But otherwise everything was 100%!

Everybody was absolutely lovely, very friendly staff. Great value for money the breakfast was brilliant, was able to get cereal, eggs, toast croissants, and unlimited coffee. Brilliant location if you're planning a trip to Oxford, it is only six minutes away from the town centre by bus. The bus stop is 1 minutes walk from the property, costs only £2.

Nothing, brilliant stay

We were warmly welcomed and able to use the room before our check in time. The room was nicely decorated and big enough for a family of three. Ideal location; walking distance to the town centre. Summertown itself is a lovely part of Oxford full of shops and restaurants.

The only negative was that at the check in we weren't informed if breakfast was included in our reservation but otherwise very happy.

The rooms were clean, but were aged, doesnt matter because they were clean. Beds were comfortable. Washroom was clean and functional. Soap, shampoo and bath gel, hair dryer and towels were provided. I loved the fact that they had a very responsive staff. Our bedroom heater was not functioning, the staff immediately got us electric heaters for the room as it was late and they wanted to make sure it doesnt disturb our sleep. The gentleman in the night shift was very polite and even offered us free breakfast as he felt it was not fair on us about the heater. The lady at the breakfast the next morning was also awesome, made sure we were taken care of. The breakfast included eggs, toasts, jams, cereals, yoghurts, teas, coffees, juices. Not the COVID-19 paper bag cold breakfast. There are restaurants and tescos at walking distance. On-site parking is available.
