Owl, Hambleton by Marston's Inns

The breakfast was very nice with quick, friendly service. The location was nice and easy to spot. Staff helped with any questions that we had and were welcoming. The room was cozy but nice and clean, my girlfriend and I were just passing through so only spent one night here but we enjoyed our short stay here.

The toilet flusher didn’t appear to work at first but we realised that there was another flusher put in underneath the towels. (It was a push flush). The room we stayed in was in an out-building, there was a sign directing us to our room number range but it would be handy if the door into the hallway had those numbers on it too just to point the way a bit clearer.

The beds were comfortable. Things like tea and coffee making ingredients were plentiful. Plenty of towels. Lovely hot water in abundance. Nice restaurant. Very pleasant atmosphere. Cleaner was helpful when we shared our concerns.

Our toilet bowl was discoloured. The bath plug tended to leak. We found the bath very slippery but when we told the cleaner, she brought us a nonslip bath mat. The restaurant was lovely but quite pricey, especially for drinks. The main road outside was very busy with lots of heavy vehicles passing .

Overall the stay was very satisfactory. The breakfast and lunch was excellent quality. The choice of sandwiches was a bit limited though. We had a minor issue with the toilet seat but it did not detract from our stay. Would not hesitate to stay at The Owl again

A couple of the side lamp didn't work and the bathroom sink plug was missing but again this did not detract from the stay. We report the issue to the staff but as it was the weekend they were not in a position to resolve it before we left

Located just above the restaurant, this hotel wasn't short of anything exceptional. During the evening, I nipped downstairs, went for a pint and just 1 minute away, was able to access my room. The next morning we were relatively late to breakfast, our own stupidity not checking the breakfast timings. Fortunately, their staff were able to accomodate our breakfast needs and draft us up an amazing all day breakfast - A breakfast that I can compare to ambrosia, the food of the gods. I’d highly recommend it to anyone. (Bonus points for the sausages!)

At some point during the late evening, it got a little rowdy downstairs. Understandable due to its location above a restaurant.

Easy check in at the bar in the Pub. Accommodation is across the free car park. Key to entrance , our room was upstairs, room 18. Clean, bright and extremely comfortable. King size bed with a thick comfortable mattress and white cotton bedding. A kettle, mugs, coffee, tea, and sugar are provided. Modern on-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. There is a fan in the room and the windows open with fitted restricters . Very quiet and had a peaceful nights sleep . Hand keys in at the bar on leaving.

Everything was perfect!

Quiet room, comfortable and clean. Great location to see family.

Family room on 2nd floor a bit much when travelling on own with children and carrying all the luggage and getting two small kids up the stairs too. Would be good for breakfast to be included given the price paid for 2 rooms. I asked for rooms to be together but my mum was placed outside in an annexe to the main property which was a shame but at least she was on the ground floor which we had requested too.

Rooms are clean and spacious and beds are comfortable. Breakfast is outstanding so much choice. Evening meals are really nice and good value for money. Staff are lovely will do anything for you. I will be now using this as my place to stay for work trips.

I was on the ground floor of the out building and the sound proofing is not great. Need to install the soft close on the main doors to stop them banging when people leave rooms and the transfer of noise through ceilings is quite loud. The Wifi on the ground floor was non existent in comparison to my previous week where I was on the 1st floor and it was absolutely fine. Next time I will be asking for a 1st floor room to avoid the noise.

Quiet and comfortable which was very important as we were exhausted having moved house. Friendly staff, especially given some significant kitchen constraints.

Impossible kitchen situation. ‘No Gas’ at breakfast so no fried eggs. Evening meal ‘No fans’ so platter selection could not be fulfilled. We ended up driving elsewhere for an evening meal when we actually wanted to relax and both have a drink without worrying about driving. Very disappointing.

The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was excellent and both the public areas and room were good and well presented. I would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone.

Nothing really only minor disappointment was we could not get breakfast at 07:00 on Saturday morning so we had to leave before chef came on duty. We fully understand why breakfast moved back one hour for the weekend but it would have been good to know in advance.

Rooms were remote to the pub, which if you retire early means any noise does not disturb you, excellent. Larger range of time to have breakfast between 8am and 11am. Room was very clean, with plenty of Tea/Coffee to make yourself. Hair Dryer in Room. The staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Food in the Restaurant was superb, cooked and presented perfectly. Great selection of ales, larger and other drinks available. Breakfast items were all cooked perfectly, excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Hand wash above the sink & bath had ran out. One of the bedside lights did not function. Outside door slammed shut when guests were coming in/out (probably just requires adjusting). Apart from those couple of points above, excellent all round.
