The Wishing Well

The experience was generally adiquate for our needs and the staff were friendly enough. The food was good and the choice was wide enough for me. The rooms were confortable and clean.

I felt a little selfish for accepting a room designed for dissabled people and in future will refuse it, even if that means finding soemwhere else to stay. Lorries parked outside the room overnight and I was awoken at early hours as they fired up to move on. I was told I could not get a VAT reciept fo the food bill I had to pay at the end. This, apparantely, was because I had checked out only seconds earlier. If I'd have been told this, I would have not checked out until the bills and receipts had been settled in full.

Staff super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Pub food was very good - above what you would expect of a place at this ‘price point’. Pizzas very nice and chips were homemade rather than frozen. The kids loved the indoor and outdoor play areas.

Carpets in the hotel and rooms rather tired looking. Also, not a criticism as such, more an observation: The hotel’s location on an industrial park would indicate a focus on business customers. But the facilities lend itself more to a budget family hotel. I think the ‘trying to wear two hats’ /confused marketing is why it has some negative reviews on tripadviser (which I noticed after booking!) - it isn’t what people expect.

The facilities were great in terms of the bar, restaurant and children’s play area. We were able to park right outside the hotel. Breakfast was good and we were promptly served. We had food in the restaurant and myself and my partner have a mixed review. My bangers and mash was superb but he found his burger disappointing. Staff were very friendly and helpful both in hotel and restaurant. We asked to change rooms upon arrival as we didn’t feel ours was suitable and this was dealt with very quickly and we were allocated another room that we were very happy with. Bath in the hotel room for our child. Room was basic but clean and comfortable and large.

Wifi wasn’t good. Frequently dropped out for long periods of time. The room was far too hot which interrupted our sleep - however the hotel does provide a fan in every room.

Room was large with fridge, sink, worktop a desk and two chairs. Wardrobe space was adequate for our needs buty could have done with some coat hangers. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. Dinner was also good and reasonably priced. All staff were frienmdly, welcoming and helpful. Recommend this hotel to everyone. Will book again.

Lack of coat hangers. Cars in disabled spaces without blue badges. That's it.

The breakfasts were great. Only complaint is lack of decaffeinated tea, had to provide my own teabags. Staff really friendly and helpful. Also had lovely evening meals there.

We struggled with the door cards, they take some getting used to which caused some embarrassment. Nothing else to dislike.

The staff were friendly and helpful. I needed some help with my breakfast order and this was given with great service. Jennifer remembered what I was having and I appreciated the smiles and chat along with prompt service.

I would have liked to have been able to have a room on the ground floor but I did not find out which room I was allocated until arrival but I should have checked that beforehand and requested it. I had paid for an upgrade so I should have found out more.

Convenient location to family clean and comfortable beds

Brought 2x dessert spoons with me which were removed from the room on our last day ? Maybe they thought I had taken them from the restaurant yet there was no evidence of us eating from the restaurant in our room reported though it’s trivial a follow up call would have been nice after our departure

Restaurant was very good, well set out with families area and quieter area for adults only. Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Large play area and plenty of tables outside. Staff were all welcoming and helpful - a real Yorkshire welcome.

Wifi was too intermittent for anything serious. It's set on a main road, which makes it great for travelling, but it's rather noisy sitting outside. As the entrance is at the back off the commercial estate there's no danger to children from the road, it's well fenced off.

The rooms are very clean and spacious, there is a large wardrobe with hangers perfect for properly unpacking everything and not being worried about leaving anything behind. The free wifi is brilliant, I had no issues getting it all over the hotel, and my room was on the corner of the top floor. The staff at reception are really friendly too. I've had breakfast here before too, and you can't fault it.

Some of the rooms are a bit dated, and the duvet was a bit too thin, but that's just being marginally picky.

Despite being outside of Selby centre, this hotel is perfectly accessible on foot. A 30 minute walk will get you to the quiet business park location. Set up very similar to your usual premier inn, the reception has been separated from the restaurant area. I found the staff to be very warm and friendly, the entire property was clean and the rooms welcoming. Comfortable bed, smart TV and en-suite with bath and shower was a nice finish. Attached restaraunt was great quality for the price paid. The dough ball starter is huge!

Room would have benefited from brighter lightbulb as it was quite dark in the evening - a minor issue. The carpets are quite thin, and some floorboards a little creaky which made me worry if there were guests below. The occupants above didn't seem to share this concern alongside occasional noisy children in the corridor. Not a reflection on the hotel, however sound does travel here.
