Everything! The friendly welcome. All staff were lovely. The interesting old building. Fab decor. Our room was gorgeous, with a huge & lovely bathroom. All was clean & tidy & well maintained. We felt completely comfortable & relaxed for our one nights stay. Only wish we'd booked more nights.. oh & the port & Curly Wurlys in the room were a very nice touch! Thank you so much to all at The Tickled Trout.

Only that we didn't book more nights! We only stayed one night as our stay was a stop over en route to another destination.

Great location for travelling to Leeds festival/York city centre, literally 20 min drive either way. Lovely country feel, the pub is so cozy. The room was a great size with a very comfy bed. Huge bathroom with freestanding bath which I loved! Loved the decor also! You can tell a lot of effort had gone into modernising. The staff were so helpful and friendly, especially Katie (owner/manager) who made sure we knew exactly how to get into the property after the pub had closed. She also kindly posted my AirPods back to me when I’d stupidly left them in the room! Great choice for breakfast, the full English was delicious! Would most definitely stay again.

Nothing.

We were staying for a wedding 11 miles away. We chose The Tickled Trout because it has a good reputation as a foodie pub. It was very convenient to our wedding venue, and so suited us perfectly. The room was lovely, the bed was very comfortable, the staff were happy and relaxed. Our breakfast was very nice, and our evening meal was superb. The pub is obviously popular in the locality - and we can see why. We could love to have the Tickled Trout as our local!!!

A quiet location in a village. An old pub making the most of the available space inside and out. Beer garden with open and enclosed space. Its own car park has plenty of space. Well staffed with very helpful people. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and dinner menus offer a selection of dishes, local where possible, and cooked and presented to a high standard. Well done.

Niggles really, rather than dislikes. Room could do with a couple of door hooks to hang outside coats. Maybe a small bedroom chair. TV at an awkward angle in relation to the bed. Niggles really, rather than problems. You don't go there to watch TV.

The rooms were very comfortable and had lovely large en suites. The beds are big znd 2 of our 3 rooms had roll top baths. The third room had an excellent shower. The restaurant is really good and we enjoyed dinner. A very good breakfast. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The location is a lovely village which we found easily and is only a few miles from Rawcliffe park and ride. A descent sized car park. It is lovely for a weekend away with an excellent restaurant and so close to York.

We liked everything though it would be nice to have a chair in the rooms.

amazing location at edge of quaint village. Accommodation was very comfortable and clean, lovely pub area and beer garden but our favourite was the dining room and the food were to die for. I had the pork belly starter and the beef and ale pie for main. my wife had the crab tian and the whole turbot. all the food was delicious. There was a great choice of seafood. The wine list was impressive. The breakfast was incredible too. All the staff were fabulous.

while the food was lovely and we have absolutely no complaints I would urge the owners/chef to consider, given the country theme throughout the entire pub, that they introduce more game onto the menu like venison, pheasant, duck, partridge or even grouse or rabbit perhaps?? Also, how about a good old lamb shank? Lamb Henry is a good choice. Pork shoulder with Bubble and Squeak would be an awesome choice.

Beautiful location in tiny peaceful village at the end of a dead-end road leading to a beautiful bridle path and footpaths across fields. Hedgerows full of wildflowers and cow parsley – idyllic. An amazingly well-run pub with a friendly, personable manager for whom nothing was too much trouble. Excellent staff, all well trained - a rarity in these days of staff shortages. Pretty much impeccable. Bedroom and large bathroom both spotless and very comfortable. Absolutely silent at night as no passing traffic. Our food was excellent too and we bought a pot of their marmalade to take away with us.

We liked everything and thought The Tickled Trout was a real find. We hope to be back soon and will certainly be recommending it to our friends in Scotland who like to break the journey to and from London.

travelling from Devon to Scotland we needed a 1 night pit stop around York. the TT inn provided a great experience. the room was large with a huge bathroom. A fabulous bath and walk in shower were much appreciated. a balcony lead off the bedroom. the bed was comfortable (on the soft side) and was made up with quality linen. we enjoyed a very tasty meal in the downstairs bar (oysters, prawn cocktail, scallops, risotto & steak). no room for dessert. all staff were very friendly and lead by a hands on manager. Breakfast excellent and included in the price.

would have liked a bottle of water in the room. The complimentary port looked nice but we didn't indulge!

Clean tidy and picturesque. Food was amazing, I am Dairy Free for medical reasons and there was an option for nearly everything on the menu. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room itself was perfect with a good sized bed and very comfortable. We had a roll top bath and a walk in shower. We have already decided will be going back next year for a longer stay, I found this by chance on booking.com after walking out of another hotel we were using as a stopover to a final destination. Brilliant find, I can’t recommend highly enough.

Staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful, providing fantastic service. Quiet rural location. Towards the end of a no through road so no traffic noise whatsoever. The homemade black pudding was the best alongside a lovely cooked breakfast. We enjoyed home smoked trout and salmon too. The pub/restaurant and rooms had wonderful character and charm and decorated so tastefully in a complimentary way. The planting and surrounding spring blossoms were beautiful too. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Would highly recommend and definitely happy to return.
