Great little community pub/hotel in a lovely location. Staff were really friendly and the room was pleasantly decorated with a comfortable bed. We had an evening meal there and really enjoyed the food.

Room was a little smaller than expected despite super-king bed, but that was fine as we only stayed for one night. We arrived on a Thursday night & booked the last sitting for dinner due to travel. Staff were amazing & food was great but we did end up eating alone in a massive restaurant room with wedding-y style classical music on in the background which felt a bit formal. Would've preferred to be able to eat in the bar. That said these are small issues & would happily stay again.

The room was lovely and comfortable. Amenities met our expectations and the villagers who own the pub between them had done a very good job of modernising the rooms for guests. Set in a nice little village, so was quiet and peaceful.

A little disappointed in the check in time, as it was later than most other accommodation. Personally I did not enjoy the cooked breakfast. We had to go out in the car to get an evening meal as we stayed on a night that they don't offer an evening meal service, which we had not realised when booking.

Everything! Beautiful classy and very well decorated enormous room with a massive and very comfortable bed. I'd been unwell before I got there but I slept soundly! There was no noise at all during the night and the room was well heated. Views from the room were simply lovely, looking onto the Campsies. There was a lovely window seat which I also loved to sit in and look at those views. The bathroom was huge, beautifully decorated and there were loads of fluffy white towels and plentiful hot water from the powerful shower. Breakfast was fantastic. Kitty, the manageress, came in extra early to cook it, as I'd said I had to leave by 8.30 as the main road in/ out of Gartmore was closing then for major works and I was leaving for Skye that morning. I was most grateful to this lovely lady for going the extra mile to help me...and the food itself, a full Scottish breakfast, was delicious. I also ate dinner with a friend in the restaurant the previous night. Stevie's cooking was an absolute dream: the food was hot, plentiful and delicious, and tasted exactly like excellent, hearty home cooking. Exactly what a guest wants, especially on such a wet and chilly evening. I'd eat there any day of the week if this kind of food was being served up. Delicious! I'd stay again at this beautiful hotel in a heartbeat!

Absolutely nothing! It was perfect. Thanks for a lovely experience in a beautiful part of Scotland.

This part of the Trossachs is hard not to like anyway! We loved the way the pub has been renovated (and is apparently run) by members of the local community. They're doing a great job. We booked a king room - it lived up to the name. It was large and comfortable, the bed was huge, the bathroom was great with a very good shower. Friendly, helpful service throughout, including in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner.

Nothing.

In a small town, Black Bull Inn was a cosy stay with our room being on the larger side. Our room was clean, comfortable, modern and excellently equipped. The breakfast was okay and there is usually plenty of parking in the area. The Inn doubles as a pub / restaurant and the food is expensive, however quite good!

Since Black Bull is in a small town, there is not much to see unless you go a few towns over like to Drymen.

Great location for exploring Loch Lomond park . Staff were exceptional. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We arrived very late. Kitchen was officially closed. Hotel staff offered us a choice of sandwiches. They were great. We were very thankful. Room was amazing. Shower and bed were very satisfactory. I cannot recommend enough. We also had a gift parcel for my brother in South Africa forwarded to the hotel. It was collected passed on by the hotel manager. Thank you so much.

Nothing.

what’s not to like about this lovely hotel?! first of all, we liked very much the idea that it belongs to the community of Gartmore , thus giving it a sense of familiarity and warmth. rooms spacious and very clean, hearty breakfast and a nice, cozy pub to unwind! the manager of the hotel told us about the history of the place and how it ended being sold to the people of Gartmore and we will definitely return!

More than the excellent breakfast, the lively bar, the quiet idyllic location in the hills and the ease of check-in/check-out, we liked the spirit of the Black Bull: bought, renovated and run by the Gartmore community, it truly feels like a place loved by the people who care for it. Legends! Also, from there it is only a short drive to Stirling and Loch Lomond.

Breakfast was lovely. The menu could be more clear/specific about there being drinks/toast/juice etc so there is no confusion as to what is available.

One negative. We booked a table for 2 for dinner. Having been told our table was ready, we were led into the dining room to a table set up for 4 including 4 chairs. I think it would have been more welcoming and professional to arrive at our table set ready for 2 and the other chairs moved elsewhere (little things).

The hotel and pub are in a picturesque village not far from Loch Lomond. The room was very comfortable with a nice bathroom, and there was a kettle with various teas and coffee available. The inn keeper was very friendly and also ran the bar and kitchen. The breakfast was steaming hot and featured black pudding. We saw a rainbow out of the bathroom window, and enjoyed the hot radiators.

Nothing much to dislike. The shower was a bit complex to figure out, so I’d recommend trying it out and getting the water the right temp. before you jump in.
