Callander Hostel

Absolutely fantastic location. We staying in one of the glamping pods at the back of the main hostel building and it overlooked a beautiful field, mountains and river in Callander. The pod was quiet, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. It's super close to the main town high street but set back far enough that it's quiet. There was 1 parking spot per pod but they have additional parking spaces so we didn't have any issue parking our 2 cars. I only spoke with one person from the hostel who came out to check that I'd gotten into the pod ok which was appreciated. Otherwise we were left to ourselves. There is a sweet little allotment as well on the property.

The hostel is in a nice location with a terrace and garden facing nature, the mountains and the river. Some rooms have mountain view, the room I was in was facing the street. I liked the decoration of the room, the bathroom was simple but good and the room itself had a beautiful high ceiling and was very cozy. When checking-out I could leave my bags behind the reception until the afternoon.

There was no staff in the hostel, I had all information to let yourself in by door codes. That was not a problem, but know that you might not be able to address questions directly. I did meet someone in the morning when checking out. The kitchen and comunal area is rather functional than pretty, but there is enough space to sit and eat. The garden is a better choice though, as there are tables, as well.

We stayed in one of the Glamping Pods. They are new and therefore sparkling clean and super cosy. You have everything you need in your own private space, including and inside and outdoor seating area and a view over the fields and hills. The kitchen is well equipped for a short stay so we were able to buy food at local supermarket and cook ourselves up a feast at “home”. Would happily have stayed longer.

A lovely little hostel with a 2 minute walk to the Main street with shops, bakery, cafes and pub. Everything was clean and tidy. Kitchen facilities were top notch! Everything you need was provided! Lovely fireplace to sit by, books to read, amazing rates.

Shower wouldn't always stay at same temperature, switched between a bit too hot and lukewarm but nothing dramatic.

We really enjoyed our stay - the tranquillity of the place (the hostel, Callander & the surroundings), the beautiful scenery all around, the spectacular view from the window of the room, the beautiful outdoors... The staff are very very friendly and helpful 👍. We definitely recommend this place!

We missed TV 📺. It would come in useful, especially if you're staying for more days.

A great location, lovely mountain view from the car park, beautiful old building, plenty of games to play with and a fantastic football table! Nice and soft white towels. The duvet and pillow cases were very clean and nice cotton.

The bedsheets was not that nice, found some hairs and I don’t think it’s pure cotton like there rest of the bedding. The bathroom was clean except the mouldy bit on the shower door ( right at the bottom).

Check- in was a bit iffy. Saturday afternoon with reception unattended was a bit of a pain. We'd travelled from the Highlands and had had no signal since early morning so we couldn't get access to the codes for check-in. Maybe I should have kept a closer eye on previous emails or something. Luckily, I managed to lean into the building, access the hostel WiFi and get online for the codes. Perhaps we'd been warned about this? One key in security box, but we were two! Reception attended and front door wide open on Sunday, however, and Alastair there being very helpful and capable! Thanks for that.

Very good value for money. Lovely building but refurbished inside to a good standard, we stayed only one night with 2 children under 5, but I could stay a lot longer as we had absolutely everything in the room we needed, very spacious room and bathroom, everything was clean and fresh. Very spaces shower, instant warm water with good pressure. There was even a fridge in the room with fresh milk, tea and coffee facilities. The communal area was great too although we didn't use it as only stayed for the night. There is no staff after 4pm but they were very friendly calling us before check in, giving us all the details we needed. I would come back any time and recommend to anyone. Thanks for the nice stay!

My family and I lived in Callander until the late nineties and I still occasionally visit the town. Callander Hostel has been the best accommodation I've had on any of these visits. Staff very friendly and helpful, kitchen and lounge facilities clean and fully functional, bedroom cosy with, in our case, an amazing view of the grand mountain Ben Ledi which looms benevolently over the town. Great central Callander location near all amenities, and an ideal base for exploring the Trossachs. A bonus is the hostel's association with the Callander Youth Project, which was set up c.1997 for the benefit of the town's youth; any profits from the hostel go towards CYP and the betterment of the local community.

Gorgeous little self contained pod in a lovely area. Everything you need in kitchen area. Nice comfy bed. Feels private. Good heating system. Convenient check in, we were left our key in the key box on arrival. The staff kept us well informed through emails and we were allocated our own parking space. All very convenient and made our stay very easy.
