It's a busy local pub with great rooms, we didn't sample the main food as we were meeting up with family in the evening before a local wedding the following day but the ales (from Harveys the brewery you can throw a stone to from the pub door) were of top quality. Comfortable rooms spacious and well appointed, we only took breakfast on day of departure but was provided was simple and enough. Staff were friendly and welcoming, excellent local advice was provided on parking and taxis when asked. The pub closes down at 11 so there is no late night noise but there is guest access out of hours to the rooms.

There isn't really a lot that could be improved, the simple continental breakfast perhaps could be upgraded to a full cooked offering but with only 6 letting rooms it's a service model that is not financially viable for a 7 day a week operation. If you're that desperate for a full English or its many variants there are plenty of options less than hundred yards away on the main street,

I booked a room at The Dorset for an overnight stay for a work meeting the next day. It is such a lovely pub with bedrooms in a quite part of Lewes, and close to the shops and restaurants so you can go and explore all the local offerings. I had such a lovely warm welcome from the two members of staff Davina and Lilly, who greeted me upon my arrival. I was checked in quickly to my room and was briefed with all the information I needed for my stay. My room was large and airy and spotlessly clean with fabulous bed linen and lots of clean soft towels. The room was also well stocked with tea coffee, biscuits and toiletries everything you need for a comfortable stay. A continental breakfast was also included in the room booking with fresh toast & croissants made and served to your table by the lovely Ian. The Dorset is such fabulous value for your money and they really pay attention to all the little details that make a stay with them perfect. The pub also has a good food menu and a great selection of ales beers and wines and a nice outside area so you can relax and enjoy a summers evening with a drink. I reaĺly cannot recommend The Dorset more highly and I will be back to stay again very soon. Thank you Team The Dorest Penelope x

Excellent location, perfect for us. Clean spacious room with large window and very clean bathroom with toiletries. We arrived at 12.30 hoping to change (we were going to Glndebourne) and the room was ready by 1.00. We had a couple of drinks and a light lunch. The staff were friendly and very helpful regarding my wife's food intolerances. Continental breakfast was more than adequate with alternative milk and gluten free bread available. We wanted a pub B & B in Lewes as close to Glyndebourne as possible and the Dorset was exactly what we wanted. All in all a very nice pub with a lot of history.

Nothing.

The room was small but had been advertised as such. The facilities were somewhat basic but functional, for example there were no glasses provided but there were tea/coffee making facilities. The location was excellent, very near Cliffe/Lewes High Streets, as a result the parking is in a public car park across the road which was reasonably priced. We could see the Harvey's brewery from the window! We had an evening meal which was very good, the cheese and bacon chips was enormous! The included breakfast was continental but for the price the whole thing was excellent value.

No onsite parking but not a big issue really.

The location for us was really good as close to the office and as well close to the city centre. The staff has been really polite. As well in general the place it's really caracteristic. You have different rooms from really small one to really big. In general also the small room is ok, but just for one person. The room is in general clean and confortable. We had the chance to have lunch and dinner in the donwstair pub and the food and service was really good. Also after dinner there is nice place to relax a while nearbie a fireplace. The breakfast was included and it was ok. I was hoping in something more to be available like eggs, backon etc. It's a continental breakfast with warm toast. Despite the pub downstairs we had really quite night and a really good sleep.

Actually the wifi connection despite included into the price it's really slow and not stable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived at 12.30 but were still able to go to our room. We had a very tasty and reasonably priced lunch in the bar. Our room seemed to have been recently decorated and the bed was very comfy. The weather was extremely hot but the fan provided made the room acceptable. Breakfast was above expectations. Previous reviews have described it as basic. It was a very acceptable continental breakfast with a choice of cereals, milk ( also oat milk), yogurts, fruits, fruit juice, a choice of toast or croissant and tea or coffee. The location was easy to find, parking opposite in a pay and display car park worked well and it was just a short drive to Glyndebourne.

The curtains in our room were tired and due for replacement, but did the job. Everything else was good.

the room was clean, functional had everything you’d need. but as a person of disability the room was on the small size in length so it wasn’t easy to get around the end of the bed. Perhaps I should have said on booking and I may have been allocated a slightly larger room? As a lone traveller you’re not often given the cream of the crop of rooms, I had a key for the room and a late pass card which was ideal for my needs. Breakfast wasn’t up to much: cereal was cornflakes or gluten free cornflakes, I don’t east cornflakes!

apart from the stairs, but it’s an old building so I wouldn’t expect a lift.

Local pub with 6 rooms. Friendly place. Serves food but not on a Sunday evening. Location is excellent. Stayed here so we could catch the ferry from Newhaven at 10am. Took15 minutes drive to the ferry terminal. Several restaurants on the high Street for evening meal (We ate at Zorbas which was very good). Room was clean, bed very comfortable, furnishing adequate. Heating working so was warm. Parking possible in large car park opposite the rear entrance. Its free on a weekend and 6pm to 9am so we were lucky in arriving late and leaving early.

Nothing much to dislike for the price. Would be good if cleaning out the shower drain was part of the cleaning routine but nobody likes doing that, ha ha.

the staff were very welcoming on arrival and always cheerful and helpful at breakfast. the continental breakfast was ample with a good choice of teas, cereal, yoghurts, muffins etc. warm croissants and fresh toast also available. our room was bright and airy with plenty of space. good to have a proper coffee maker in the room. shower was very good. friends ate their evening meal in the pub and were very happy. although warned that the pub was open til 11.00 it was surprisingly quiet.

the shower screen needs to be cleaned of limey residue more often. the bed was a bit hard and could do with a mattress topper!
