I really liked the independent vibe of the place, especially the bar area. Full of character and a relaxed atmosphere. Staff helpful and friendly. Good drinks offering. Room no.10 was cosy, clean and quiet. Location couldn't of been better for us.

Definitely a work in progress. The bathroom was in need of a full refurb, but simple things like replacing the tatty toilet seat would immediately help. The bedside lights weren't working because of an electrical problem, but we managed without. I did enquire with the landlord and he said an electrician was booked. Housekeeping didn't come in on the second day, so leaving a sponge and dishsoap for washing the mugs up would be an idea. Our room was off the courtyard up steep steps, I liked the position, but if you have young children or limited mobility you may want to consider this.

The location more or less opposite the Cathedral in the most historic part of the town was very good and it was quick and easy to walk to all the sights and town centre facilities. The bed and bedding were clean, fresh and comfortable. The staff were warm, friendly, helpful and welcoming. There is regular live entertainment in the pub garden which is popular with locals and an added bonus for guests.

We dislike continental breakfasts and had been expecting a full English breakfast option included with the price, so that was disappointing. Currently, this option is only available some days of the week. We went out for breakfast instead nearby. Car parking is not available at the hotel so be prepared to walk there from public parking areas which are up to 5 mins from the hotel.

Fabulous location Room has everything you need and was quite pleasant for a few nights away & for the price we paid it was quite good value for money.

The bar/restaurant wasn't open the Monday and Tuesday we were there which was disappointing & it was basically see to yourself to check in which I think it quite poor .. this has put me off staying again ..a more personal touch would have been better .. but I suppose this reflects in the price .. the 1 member of staff we saw on the Tuesday morning was very helpful and made sure we had what we needed in the room but we only saw him by chance when we were on our way out in the morning

Excellent location, right in the centre of Wells, very close to the bus station too. It is a beautiful building. The breakfast was incredible, really good selection to chose from.

To be honest it was completely my fault. I read that all the double rooms can separate into twin beds so I didn't request it, just assume it. When we went to the room it was not possible to separate the beds. My friend and I have to sleep in the same bed, quite small for a double bed. The room was comfortable but very small. The hotel was full booked so we couldn't change rooms. Remember to tell the hotel that you want twin beds :)

Bar/reception area was nice & friendly. There was live music when I arrived & a good atmosphere. Staff willingly stored my luggage for me pre-check in. My room in easy reach

Bathroom fans were noisy. Fan in Guests room next door to mine was buzzing through the wall for 30+ minutes late at night. I went & asked them to turn it off & they apologised & obliged. They didn't realise that when the bathroom light was on the fan was active. It might be beneficial to post notices about switching off the lights/fans in the bathrooms for guests

The room was a decent size and came with a super king-size bed. Both the bedroom and en-suite bathroom were neat, tidy and clean. The bar area downstairs was also lovely and had live music the evening we stayed, but you could not hear it from the room. The food menu was also very good. The staff member we met on checking in was friendly and efficient and overall we were very happy with our stay. The White Hart is also situated directly across from the Cathedral and just a short walk from all the shops etc. I would definitely stay here again.

Location is excellent, directly opposite the Cathedral and walking distance to the beautiful town. We loved the quaint feel and the history of the building. There was an issue with no water on our second night but we improvised with the kettle and cold water. There was excellent and prompt communication from the hotel regarding a 50% refund for that night which I believe has been done through booking.com so I’m hoping booking.com sends on the refund and I don’t have to go hunting or emailing looking for it.

Few little issues, the heater wasn’t working in our room, just a simple job that may have been over looked by staff, staff provided us with an extra duvet . Regardless of these little issues I definitely would stay here again and would recommend it.

The hotel is under new owners and management. Ignore previous moans and groans and go and see for yourselves. Still work going on but did not interfere with our stay. The management and staff were amazing. Most welcoming and helpful. Room was very clean, with new carpet. Bedding and towels class. Bar was a beer drinkers heaven. Never had so much choice of amazing ales. Two minute walk to the Centre and Cathedral. We will return. If you are looking for a comfortable, homely place to stay in Wells please give this place a try.

Location, right in the middle of Wells and close to all the major attractions. Room was large and airy with plenty of natural light. Good sized bed that was very comfortable.

The fact that there was no water at all in the room all of Friday night nor on Saturday prior to me leaving for the day. I had to purchase water from a supermarket to enable me to have a strip wash, shave, clean my teeth and make a mug of coffee. Also there was no hot water at 06:00 hrs on the morning that I departed the hotel and so ended up shaving and showering in luke warm water.

The location of this hotel is fabulous! The room was clean and tidy. The staff we did see were pleasant and polite. Even though the hotel is placed 200yards from the main square it was so quiet and peaceful. This hotel is located right opposite the cathedral. Lovely! Make sure you also book the Italian restaurant opposite the hotel. Best meal ever! However there are loads of eateries. Would definitely book this room again as the location is fantastic!

There was no air-conditioning in the room so take a fan! Thank god for the decent shower as the room in the 30° heat was not good! Also it advertises breakfast (which we paid for) however the pub is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, which we didn't know until after booking. Saying that there are plenty of places to eat and drink on the doorstep of this hotel. There is no parking. We parked in Waitrose and had a 10min walk to the hotel. £6.50 is all day and it gives you up til 6.30pm. Overnight is free. However you will need an early morning stroll to put a new ticket on the car as the carpark charges from 9 on the dot!
