The location was very good where we were. Just 5 minutes walk into Whitby We managed to get a carparking space. Which was a bonus. Checking in and out was very good. The staff are very friendly and very helpful and kind. The hotel is very old but lovely at the same time The breakfast was very nice.

I didn't like my bed too firm, our floor boards in our bedroom creeked, the bathroom there was molder everywhere, the TV no single, I couldn't really watch it. Disappointed with the TV and bathroom. Because for the price you pay for your room. It shouldn't be like that. It was off putting, you can get a seaview hotel with the same price you pay for cheaper and a better room. And it's not haunted I am a medium, I just wasn't getting it at all. The traffic at night gets very busy, you need ear plugs Will not be staying again

Superbly located hotel with great staff and lovely breakfasts. The bar and lounge were very quiet and nice paces to spend an evening. The tea/coffee facilities in the room were excellent and the bathroom was really good. A bulb had gone when we arrived but as soon as we mentioned this to reception they sorted it out for us, well done and thanks.

Our room was in the annexe which was very well located just a few yards from the main hotel but lacked the ambience of the older building. Our room was a great size but the decor was a little tired and lacking a few finishing touches that would have elevated it - perhaps a few more pictures & framed mirrors more in keeping with the main hotel?

Excellent location, literally a two minute walk into town with good parking, breakfast was very good and the staff were polite and helpful. We've stayed in the main hall before, this time we were in the annexe. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable with a large en-suite. Be prepared for some floorboard squeaking from upstairs if you're in the ground floor rooms, to be expected in a building as old as this. It's a little more pricey than some, but you're paying for character, location and good parking. Would definitely recommend, great place.

No real issues, enjoyed our stay.

Staff were really friendly and helpful, esp the manager (Mike) who went out of his way to help. We requested a room change as we were very disappointed with the room we were given and we were given a second room which was amazing. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The four poster bed was a great touch, as was the comfy seating. There was a plentiful supply of tea, coffee, water and hot chocolate, and biscuits too. The location is great, only a short walk to the harbour and town.

The first room we were given was a bit small and needed updating. The decorations/paintwork and furniture were rather shabby, as was the grouting in the bathroom, which was quite mouldy in places. Also there was scaffolding right outside the window, because there was ongoing roof repairs being done, which meant there was a possibility that we might get workmen walking about outside our window! We felt this room was not good value for money, and not acceptable to us, therefore we asked for a room change, which was given without any trouble.

Beautiful oldly worldy stone building , great location, no hills to climb, the staff are so kind and helpful they make you feel so at home . The four poster room we booked was lovely. It was a big room, very clean and warm with plenty of tea coffee sugars etc.... having their own car park round the back was brilliant. Very nice cosy little bar with a good choice of drinks... I love prosecco and they had both pink and white in small bottles 😉 The breakfast was fantastic plenty of choice and really good quality food . We loved it and will definitely be back !!!

There was nothing we didn't like !!!

Really good facilities with onsite parking which is important in Whitby. Room was a good size and on the ground floor which was great. Breakfast was good and the staff very friendly.

Very little not to like except for the small bit of black mould on the one side of the bath. (a little bleech would sort that out). The bed was large but not very comforatale as it was a bit hard for our preference.

Everything was brilliant. Food was lovely, with plenty of choices and well cooked. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Fantastic LARGE family room with super bath. Exceptionally clean, but best of all was the building itself with so much history attached to it and beautifully set out throughout.

The only thing missing was a lift, but this would have spoilt the uniqueness of the building so was quite happy to cope with stairs.

Loved the relaxing atmosphere when we arrived after many hours of driving. We had a Gin & Tonic to revive us. Our room was on the ground floor so it was nice to sit outside. There was ample parking which was a great boon, as parking in Whitby is a nightmare. We were a few minutes walk from the town which was lovely. The breakfast was fantastic - what a choice. Fresh fruit, cereal, lovely bread, and one of the nicest things was little pots of conserves. The cooked breakfast was ample and lovely. There was nothing not to like.

There wasn't anything that we didn't like, we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Gorgeous hidden gem located a stone's throw from the harbour. A mini- stately home with all beams and wonky floors you'd expect. We had 2 rooms booked: one in the old building packed with charm, including a four-poster bed; the second in the annexe but no less comfortable - a hige family rom with room to swing a giraffe!!! Both rooms had everything you'd need with a great bathroom and a very generous amount of toiletries and tea/coffee items. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of personalisation available and, of course, local produce! A wonderful stay all round and we will be back!

A minor thing - the bed was a little soft for my liking.
