Very clean. Excellent staff. Lovely food. Very close to the sea.
Room was cold on arrival after a 51/2 hour journey, heating had been turned off, so had to ask for a heater supplied by the night porter who’s was very helpful. Went to the bar after an evening meal but couldn’t stay as it was cold. Stayed in a room on the top floor room 22. The shower had low shower pressure

This was an unexpected gem. My mum and I stayed in 2 single rooms. They weren’t cramped as single rooms often are, and they were spotlessly clean, and well maintained. The bathrooms felt like they had recently been renovated to a good standard. I couldn’t find fault, no wear and tear whatsoever. Breakfast was delicious, served hot and freshly cooked to us at the table. I much prefer that to buffet style breakfasts where the food overcooks in heated canteens. Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable. The hotel is not right in the centre of Whitby, just a 10 minute walk along the seafront, so it’s quiet without being too far away from the centre. I’d definitely stay here again.
The decor is a little old fashioned and understated but it’s not faded or worn and I wouldn’t change it because it adds to the charm of the place.

In a quiet location about 10 minutes walk into Whitby. The hotel was very clean and all the staff were friendly and attentive. Fresh towels were available every day. We were B&B this was served in the resteraunt where the staff took your order and brought it to the table. There was a good selection of cereals, Yoghurt and fresh fruit salad before the traditional English breakfast.
We were in room 27 on the top floor, in the bathroom the toilet was between the bath and the wall and it was a bit of a tight squeeze. I'm only 5 foot 7 and there wasn't a lot of room for me. So a large person might think to ask for a different room.

We were in a deluxe double room number 22 on the 2nd floor. The room was tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. It was very cold our room but the heating wasn't on, reception brought us an oil filled radiator up to our room as soon as my Husband informed them, she was so helpful. I am on blood thinners hence feeling so cold. We had the 3 course meal in the hotel restaurant which was lovely with coffee to follow included in the price of £28. The staff waiting on again were lovely. The bed was really comfy and the room huge with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and bottled water, a nice sized tv, a built in wardrobe and a huge mirror on the and a hairdryer. Breakfast was served from 7.30am to 9.30am with a good choice, we had fresh fruit salad, toast, tea and then WOW the full English. This was the best full English we have had in a hotel or a B&B., quality ingredients and plenty of it.
The only small thing was the shower over the bath had no pressure.

Single room but it had a bath which I always appreciate and plenty of hot water. It was a small single room but pleasant and comfortable. Liked the tea facilities right next to bed as allowed me to make a morning cuppa without getting out of bed. Room also had a fan which was appreciated as weather was warm and muggy, Staff attentive especially in dining room and it was nice to place my order quickly and have meal served very promptly. All breakfast choices were delivered to the table and didn't have to do any self service.
Evening meal was adequate although I did enjoy it as very hungry. Good tuna fish cake starter and although the vegetables were fresh and well cooked I thought the beef and yorkshire pudding could have been of a higher standard. Yorkshire pudding was rather overdone but still got eaten lol. Entrance was slightly outdated in decor but was clean and didn't bother me.

Very warm welcome when I arrived and helpful advice about local amenities. The room was very clean and comfortable. I didn't have dinner but breakfast was excellent and the serving staff were also first rate. The hotel is about ten minutes downhill walk from the centre of Whitby and just a couple of minutes from the West Cliff area. Parking was available but I parked on the street as I arrived late enough and left early enough to make this possible.
I was sent a lot of terms and conditions which made me expect a rather 'nit-picking' approach but the hotel wasn't like that at all. The three course dinner looked good and was good value but a single course, which I what I wanted, was rather expensive.

The breakfast was good, the room was spotless and the staff were friendly, helpful and really great.
There was no lift and we had to carry our bags up to the room and this was not made clear until after we had booked. We are not young and could not possibly have carried our cases up the stairs so we had to resort to taking things out of the cases and putting clothes and overnight essentials in carrier bags. We stayed 2 nights and, because of that problem, we would not have wanted such inconvenience for any longer. That was the only mark against an otherwise lovely stay.

The hotel is well maintained and comfortable. The staff in all areas were excellent. The restaurant is comfortable and spacious serving great food, all meals served including breakfast with good and varied choice, the dinner menu is changed daily.
The bathroom was a little tight whilst well appointed. Whilst the weather wasn’t hot, the room was quite hot requiring windows to be left open which meant early morning disturbance with noisy seabird’s.

Location . Best area in whitby to stay I would say as just a short walk/cut through to town centre . But in a quiet location. Had parking area there was space when I arrived. Also in area where promenade and beach is. Classic traditional British hotel.complete with a actual key to the rooms . I booked bed and breakfast one night I stay in a lot of hotels and I can’t think Iv had a better breakfast . Quality the service spot on. Cooked to order I will take up the evening meal option if I am up this way again .
Nothing to dislike .

Nice quaint little English hotel in a very peaceful area of the town. Good clean room - as a housekeeper myself, I give your team 10 out of 5 stars. Lovely breakfast and high-quality service. Loved that the staff had no judgement having a Gothic guest.
It was a bit far from the town centre to walk in big Gothic boots (not an issue for the hotel though). I didn't love carrying my heavy suitcase up and down the stairs. That's only taught me to travel light. I would have also liked more options for dinner, like fish and chicken.
