We stayed for one night at the Pier Inn after we left York where we had been staying for a Wedding. Whitby is a lovely place to stay, we were really lucky with the weather, we had a lovely walk round. In the morning we had a lovely breakfast which was included in the price, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We went up to see the Abbey on the hill, you can walk up to it but it is 199 steps to reach it.. We decided to drive up to it in the morning before we set off to Cambridge. The Abbey is well worth a visit and there are stunning views from up there.

Absolutely perfect location and amazing view! Room had everything we needed for a night away. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly and helpful.

Fellow guests sat at their breakfast table complaining how the room we were in were partying all night. This was not us. We were out and about until after 9 and in and asleep by 10. Put a dampener on our night away when they could’ve discussed this at the time with the staff and then would of found in fact it was nothing to do with us at all. Hopefully they see this review and learn to behave like grown adults next time……

The staff were very helpful on arrival, and explained the parking permit in terms of where to park, and gave clear directions to the relevant parking zones. On checking in, the staff member carried cases to the bedroom and was very friendly and explained how to access the hotel after the pub has closed. The room had a fabulous sea view, was very clean and the beds and duvet very comfortable. An extra bonus was the large tea cups, complimentary biscuits and a well stocked selection of hot drink sachets.Breakfast was excellent, a selection of cereals, good quality bread for toast with individual pots of jam, perfectly presented. The cooked English breakfast was cooked to perfection. This hotel is excellent value for money, perfect location, central. I would definitely stay her again

Rooms were clean and tidy, friendly staff- they definitely went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as it was. Great location, short walk to local shops, and a great sea view.

I found it was a little awkward going up and down the stairs, with the kitchen being up there it meant staff were carrying the food down stairs and if your half way up, you would have to go back down to let the staff come down which isn’t a huge problem, i just felt bad for the staff having to carry food and empty plates up and down the stairs which for me is a health and safety risk for the staff. I’m sure this can’t be helped, but i can imagine during busy periods it can get difficult.

The pier inn is a fabulous place. We have stayed there three times now and I’d go back again. The location is very central to Whitby which means a short walk to all the shops, pubs and places to eat.

If I could find something I don’t like. It’s the parking. This isn’t really a gripe but you have to drop your stuff off at the hotel, they give you a free ticket then you travel a short distance to park in the designated zone. I’m fit and able but not good if you’re not. Nothing to do with the hotel.. That's Whitby.

Location very good. Close to all amenities and the sea. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and comfortable and surprisingly quiet considering the location and it being a busy pub. Breakfast very good and well cooked.

Unfortunately we arrived on the last day of the Regatta so could not access the property by road - it was closed off. Had to park in a public car park, although it was only a few minutes walk to the accommodation. However we did not get a free parking permit and had to pay £9.00 for parking overnight.

There was a warm welcome upon checking in and we were helped upstairs with our luggage. The room was pleasant with a view over the harbour. There were a variety of places to eat and drink, although The Pier Inn could not be bettered for food. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and was freshly cooked. There was a minor hiccup with heating but once we pointed it out to the staff it was sorted straight away. We were even offered a complementary meal for the inconvenience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend this place.

Stairs were a bit steep but we had offers of help with the luggage both on our arrival and checkout. Small problem but well worth it for the view.

The Pier Inn is a good value pub with rooms on Whitby's harbour. Lovely views from the front rooms and a decent breakfast. Check in was easy and everything was as expected - good, clean, comfortable room with an en-suite. Please note, as stated on the booking page, there is no on-site parking - the Pier will provide a permit to use anywhere within Whitby under that designated permit letter. The rooms are above a functioning pub, which, obviously, involves noise from punters enjoying themselves, but nothing a good set of earplugs can't block out. We were aware of these points when we booked, so all was well for us.

Location v. Good. Breakfast v. Good. Nice pub nice beer. Excellent value.

Street parking was okay and as described but was a little difficult. Can’t remember being told that the loudest band in England would be playing directly beneath the bedroom. Accept it is a music pub. That said, neither were massive problems, and neither point detracts from the good value.

This place is seeping with history and is a beautiful building right on the front. The pub and restaurant were both lovely and our breakfast was delicious.

Being such an old building the stairs to our room were really steep and spiral. Not for the faint hearted and certainly not for anyone with any degree of mobility issues. Whatever your mobility levels, try not to take too large a case as my partner had the arduous task of carrying it up these stairs!
