Highgate House

First let me tell you about our stay ( Ray and Marion ,April 14 -16 ) at Highgate house in Whitby , as you approach this beautiful,original Georgian house in its magnificence you know its going to be a beautiful stay ,with immaculate gardens to the front and the splendor of the building itself we couldn't wait to get inside . The interior decor was immaculate and the room was too ,and very spacious (we stayed in the Autumn room ) . The proprietors,Louise and Johnathan were fantastic, as we are frequent travellers we can honestly say we have never met hosts with the warmth and welcome that we got from them while we were there, anything we needed all we had to do was ask . If you are traveling to Whitby we highly recommend you stay at Highgate house you will not be disappointed,don't miss out on this gem. We would rate this 5 star, luxury and beyond .

Nothing ,everything was perfect

The best B&B I've ever stayed in. Met Johnathan on arrival and he was a very welcoming, friendly, helpful host! The building is beautiful to look at and in the perfect location. The decor in the main hallway is beautifully put together and feels very luxurious. We stayed in the Spring room which is much bigger than I expected it to be! Furnished to high level and was extremely clean. Johnathan and Louise bring up a beautifully presented breakfast tray in the morning which is super tasty! Will definitely return the next time we visit Whitby. Couldn't have asked for a better place to accommodate for us! Thank you!

We stayed in the Autumn room. It’s a bed & breakfast in a grade II listed property with all period features. The property is spotlessly clean, very tastefully decorated and the hosts, Jon and Louise are so welcoming and friendly. Their attention to detail is amazing, including how breakfast in your pyjamas is delivered to your room. It was such a lovely touch! The property is about a 5 minute downhill walk to the harbour, with pubs and some eateries en-route. As Whitby’s roads are so narrow, parking is in zoned areas and parking permits are offered by the hosts if required when you arrive. We parked in the shopping zone by mistake, but Jon checked when he was delivering breakfast, so we avoided getting a parking ticket.

I don’t normally write reviews but this is very worthy. We stayed in the Spring Room which definitely had the WOW factor on entry. Luxurious bed and decor. Breakfast served in the room was excellent and varied. Jonathan and Louise look after your every need and I have to say “pay attention to detail” in every aspect. I have no hesitation in recommending the above and will definitely be revisiting in the future. “A jewel in the crown”

Hosts Jonathan and Louise were superb! Friendly and accommodating. I really felt like I was staying in my own home! Breakfast in bed, what else could you ask for? Fine Georgian grand home with all the comforts! Location was great! Right in the heart of town, next to museums, shops and restaurants. Just down the street from beautiful beaches and magnificent views. I felt very safe there…

Owners Louise and Jonathan very attentive and friendly. Property beautiful. Facilities good with plenty of tea/ coffee available in room and replenished daily. Boutique styled bathroom with lots of clean soft towels. Lovely breakfast brought to room each morning and catered for all dietary requirements.

Location very good for town centre but our particular room was noisy into early hours from local bars which did affect sleep.

Highgate House is a beautiful place to stay and our hosts were absolutely lovely; Polly made us feel really welcome. We stayed in the Summer room - it's well decorated with a large bathroom that has a huge bath, perfect to have a very welcome soak at the end of a long day! WiFi connected great, there were plenty of plug sockets and the bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Large TV, hairdryer supplied and plenty of toiletries available too. It was very hot in the room (we stayed during a heatwave!) There is no air conditioning but when we opened the window we did get a little breeze of sea air. We were told that our room was the smallest but once it cooled down we found it lovely and cozy. We would definitely book again when Whitby is quieter as we really enjoyed our stay here.

breakfast was so gorgeous it exceeded my expectations, bacon baps and lots of different yoghurts and juices and coffee and tea! it felt like such a luxury the bed was one of the most comfortable beds ever i want to come back so badly ! you can relax and watch telly on the sofa and go for the loveliest walks along the coast

The house is large and full of history. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished. The breakfast is served in your room and will certainly set you up for the day. The owners were very welcoming and made it very clear from the first moment that nothing would be too much trouble for them. We cant wait to go back.

i dont think you can improve on what is offered at Highgate House.

5 star Hotel experience in a beautiful period building. It really is one of the most stunning homes I've ever seen. Louise and Jonathan are fantastic hosts and make you feel extremely welcome. As I'm working nearby, I'm fortunate enough to be able to go back in a couple of weeks.

I had to leave early every morning, so I couldn't take advantage of breakfast in bed.
