Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Atlanta Buckhead, an IHG Hotel

Everything was comfortable, and it was an overall very pleasant stay. The breakfast was what I really appreciated. It was much better than I expected, considering hotel breakfasts are not usually great, so I expected it to be particularly terrible considering COVID issues. However, I was glad to see there seemed to be all of the usual fare available, including hot food. I was quite comfortable with the setup of only having one or two hotel staff handling the food items, versus unknown numbers of other guests touching who knows what. I am sure some would find it unnecessary, but I was happy to see some obvious and meaningful effort in place to keep all guests safe. I also noted that the pool was closed for a period of time for cleaning. That was also good to see. I would guess that is part of the normal pre-COVID cleaning and care, but it was still reassuring for me. Being in Buckhead, the area around the hotel was nice. There were plenty of restaurants and fast-food options nearby. Most food options were within a short drive, but some were within walking distance. There is also retail and shopping available nearby (Target, Best Buy, etc.), totally within walking distance. We stayed a week, so, we saved a bit of money by picking up groceries instead of eating out for every meal. There is even a mall not too far away. Where I live, I prefer going to QuikTrip gas stations/convenience stores, so I was extra happy that there was one right across the street. I will definitely be back in the ATL area in the future, and I have every intention of staying at this hotel again.

The only issue we had during the entire stay was that we had to change rooms. Our initial room had lots of ants in it. I went down to the front desk, the staff person immediately offered us a new room, and then additionally made sure we were taken care of and got settled in the new room. That was great service in an unusual but not-so-great situation. He even mentioned that he would immediately get an exterminator out to that room. That did not affect me, but it means there was due care and diligence on his part. There were other instances of the staff being friendly and helpful, so this level of service seems to be more the rule instead of the exception.

Check in was easy. Our room smelled clean when we walked in, and it was. The beds are comfortable, and pillows are as well. Pool is outside and was clean and nice. Breakfast was great and had many options (pancakes, cinnamon rolls, cereal, yogurt, egg omelets, sausage, oatmeal, and more). My daughter even made friends with the lady hosting the Breakfast, she was friendly and made conversations with us.

The bathroom door in our room was a rolling door put in the wall, hard to open and close the door. (See picture) The pool area is loud from traffic, but that was not a big deal for us (others may not like the sound)

The room smelled like cigarette smoke when we checked in. The rear entrance to the hotel was broken.

The hotel is relatively close to Lindbergh Center MARTA station - just 15 minutes walk, or you can take bus 30 or 39 from the MARTA station and it will be the second stop in the bus route.

Breakfast was just fine, however, it will be nice to have a bit more diverse dishes, in case somebody does not like eggs and turkey sausages.

This property was quiet, clean, and all the staff was so friendly.

The drink machine on floor 4 was broken, but there was no sign indicating this or where we could go to find another drink machine. The door to go to the pool we could get back in using our key like we were suppose to. It would be SO helpful if the sign to this hotel was bigger it could be easily missed at night.

The location was great, breakfast was good and plentiful, staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The pool was also enjoyed regularly.

Only one elevator worked, and wait times could be 5 minutes or longer. The beds sagged, and the TV was old and struggled to stream anything. Refrigerator made a weird noise throughout the night. Keycards constantly had trouble reading. The facility was run well, but seriously dated and in need of maintenance and updated equipment.

Hotel was a bit older than the other ones we stayed in on the trip, but had a lot of charm and was well maintained and clean. Staff was very friendly, accommodating and helpful. I liked that the breakfast section was well stocked at all times and clean. It's a nice gesture that tea and coffee bar are always available for the guests.

I had a double bed room but the TV wasn't working so Pam, the custodian on my floor, made sure I got a suite free of charge! That was great customer service 😊 .. I was comfortable in my suite because my room had everything I needed! Hot, upgraded bathroom..big, comfy bed..a nice living room .. everything was working properly!! Also, breakfast was good and well kept. There's also free parking & the hotel was near downtown area!!

There was a dead roach that was stuck on the wall in the living room. Janitorial services should clean up thoroughly.

The hot breakfast is so good scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, biscuits and gravy, if the kiddies want cereal there is some and hot oatmeal in which you can add toppings. Its served daily and have bagels and little things you can grab n go like fruit. The location literally is like 15 minutes from everything! Right across the street you have a Target and little shopping plaza which makes it convenient get items you may need.

Every one of the staff was so friendly and helpful. They seemed sincere in welcoming us at check in and helping with any questions. Housekeeping was helpful with advice on where to eat. The staff here is wonderful.

The room was sufficient size, but the bathroom is quite small. It still worked for us. Although clean and well kept, the rooms could use some updating.
